An immaculate and elaborate gallery with a very easy to follow flow. Lots of amazingly curated art and history going hand in hand.

Huge collection of Japanese relics, as well as some Korean, Chinese, Indian and Egyptian pieces too. Many fascinating historical objects, including almost 2000-year-old swords and armour. A real gem for Japanese history buffs. On the downside, the rich collections were let down by the haphazard curation and fell into the common old-school museum trap of just showing a bunch of great objects on shelves, without presenting the visitor with a clear thread through history, events and culture tying everything together. Also, the layout of the museum is confusing. Upon entry, one does not know where to start in the huge compound of several major buildings, and progress through the exhibitions is not clearly marked.

Spread over 5 floors, this gallery gives a bird eye view on evolution of Buddhism in eastern and South East Asia through statues, murals etc. A bit of Iran, Egypt is also covered through the clay pottery, mummies and murals. Gold interested in Asian history and cultural evolution must visit this place.

Museum complex with different buildings. A lot of information to read also in English. They have a reduced price for students (around 420 Yen instead of like 600 Yen). There was a coffee and pizza car on the square in front of the buildings. There are lockers so you can put away your bags. The small lockers required 100 Yen to use but you get your money back.

This is the most interesting part of the museum, containing the exponates referring to the asion history. Combined with good eplanations in 4 languages, this exhibition leads you through the ancient asian traesures of history from the early stoneage to the 20th century.

Some interesting Asian artefacts though it is not a big museum like the Metropolitan museum or the Louvre Museum. The restaurant in the museum serves good quality food no need to go to Ueno town centre.

Nice museum. The katanas were cool. There was also Chinese and Korean art in the building to the right. There's a nice garden/pond area in the back. Don't miss it :)

Lovely building. However, underwhelming interesting historical artefacts for a National museum. Seems each museum is for specific purposes.

I thought the size would be small similar to most museums so I planned a visit of 30min-1hr. But this is huge and I ended up spending 2+hrs. This is so beautiful museum

Beautiful exhibition. No entry fee is required to visit the general exhibition for under 18 years, even from overseas. Just show bring an ID to prove.

Large museum with lots to see, but nothing that blew me away. For me, the coolest piece was probably the mummy (not for the feint of heart).
