Government civilian TAD to Yoko for a short time, staying in Yokohama (one hour train ride north) due to limited lodging close to base. I came down with a sore throat and cough, so I called to determine if I was eligible to be seen at the hospital using my Federal Employee Heath Benefit insurance. After being bounced around on the phones, I was told I would need to come in person to show my DTS orders and they would determine eligibility but I may still not be seen that day. Ended up finding a hospital out in town and using google translator to receive care. Sad that a Marine Corps veteran and DoD Civilian has to jump through hoops to determine if they can be seen for a sore throat overseas. ***Ended up being Coronavirus. Sure wish I could’ve been seen instead of walking all over USS BLUE RIDGE spreading COVID-19***

Great staff who are helpful and friendly. They provide a variety of services here that aren’t available at some of the smaller Japan bases. This place is old and seriously outdated. I’m surprised it’s still up to code in some places. The layout is beyond horrible and there could be better signage. Luckily the staff always helps you find your way. It’s too bad the staff have to work in such a decrepit building.

The most lacking ER experience I have ever had. They took triage information via loudly from across the room in front of other patients. Luckily, I was there for my 3-year-old son who doesn't have a concept of privacy. The nurse and doctor were great. However, the individual who triaged us was incredibly unprofessional and impatient when taking my son's temperature. Another health care personnel came in after the appointment had finished and we were being discharged and hooked him back up to the blood pressure machine for seemingly no reason as she fumbled to do so. After being discharged and told that nothing was wrong, my son later got worse. I had an over-the-phone pediatrics appointment which was great. I was told during this appointment that if he developed a fever again to bring him in. The appointment line was closed and was transferred to the ER. After explaining everything, the woman on the phone's response was "so... what exactly is your question?" The same woman who hooked him up to the BP machine at the end of his last appointment. She was more than unhelpful to a laughable degree. She gave me two numbers to the nurse's hotline, both of which were "no longer in service" and different from those provided via the hospital quarterdeck. Again, other than the one RN and doctor who saw us, no one else could be bothered. I would expect more from an ER staff who at the time was servicing a whopping 2 other patients. -Unorganized -Terrible bed-side manner -Unprofessional

In March 1970 I arrived at this Naval Hospital. I was sent here because of a wound received in Viet Nam. The hospital military personnel were very friendly and courteous. I felt the stress leave me. There were some Japanese ladies that worked in the ward I was in and showed the hospitality of warm human beings. Very helpful and concerned for my well being. The perfect way to say goodbye to a war. Thank you Japan.

Civilians and contractors are not a priority in the hierarchy of the system although we are an intergrate part of supporting the local community and the mission. Get quotationd on policies on what they cannot do. Worlds greatest navy would not support those who support. Oct. 2023 Space Available for appointments take over 2-3 weeks. Think twice if you need maintenance health visits.

Poor Customer service, poor billing office. Culture is as bad as it gets in there. Starts with Leadership all the way down.

Horrible. They sent me an invoice a whole year later. Get it together. I've asked them via email multiple times LAST YEAR if I had any outstanding charges and they said nothing. Thank Goodness it did not go to collections! Now I have to worry about trying to get my previous insurance provider to pay for it since I was covered by them at the time. Thanks Naval Hospital Yokosuka, NOT!!!! Worst experience ever! Fire everyone and find more competent people to work there!!! Everyone drags their feet here, obviously!!

I would say they're ok. In person they treat you nice but phone services are horrible. Sometimes there's nice person and helpful person on the phone service. Specifically dental clinic phone service was horrible. They just hang up the phone if you're not worthy of be in their system??? I think those people should get fired and learn their lessons.

I Thank God every day now, for the U.S. Navy Commander who ran the AA "Dry Dock" recovery program there in 1981 -1982. U.S. Naval Medical personnel are the best in the world in my opinion and experience. Also had all 4 wisdom teeth out by Navy Dentist in MCAS, Yuma, 1983, practically painless.

Has many of the medical services that one can expect at one of the many overseas military locations. All of the medical practitioners are pretty knowledgeable as expected. Base sits on Tokyo Bay so the scenery is very nice.

Dental hygienist M.A. gave me the best cleaning of my life. Checked every tooth and went back to double check her work. I wish I could take her with me back to the states. Thank you so much!

This hospital is basically a glorified Doctors Office. They aren't able to handle anything especially with children a year and under, they will always send them out in town two another hospital. Also, if you want to bring your child home but the Japanese hospital wants to keep them they won't listen two you. They are more worried about saving face with the Japanese hospital then what the parents want and what really is best for the child. If your child gets set out two a Japanese hospital you will have know say in there care you will just be told whats going two happen even if the Japanese hospital needs your consent for something and if you don't give it your child will not be able two leave.

Should have a sign or bigger sign for free mask available by the entrance….. forget to bring my mask with me so I walked in there with hat cover my nose and mouth to ask for one mask from the front desk but getting yelled by the male corpsman. Felt like he can be more gently and respectfully when he talks to me.

NBHC SASEBO - Consistently exceptional customer/patient service. A diverse group of young talented professional Corpsman. I know the only way that happens is dedication and pride on their part and awesome leadership.
