    I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, to be honest. The first time I went there, although I had an appointment, I had to wait 3 hours just for a checkup. The people behind the counter are very rude. Also, they don’t really speak English, so there’ll be many misunderstandings. I’m under the impression that the person that updated my prescription was new staff, so I had to go back a second time to correct it (and obviously they charged me again for that). The doctor was the only acceptable person there. Nothing special though, just a regular doctor. Please don’t waste your time and money here

    I feel so grateful that both IPL and LipiFlow treatment are available here🥹 both are not covered by insurance though. The set (four-time IPL ➕ 1 LipiFlow) cost 60,000 💴 in total Dr. Toda was very patient and she gave me kind suggestions to take care of my eyes. Also, the best thing is that they prepared detailed docs on each treatment so that you can learn the rationale behind🤓 Hopefully after the whole treatment, myマイボーム腺機能が段々良くなる🙏

    I went to this clinic because their website says they are foreigners friendly but none of they staffs speak english, none at the reception and none at the examination room, the staff who examined me was rude, impatient, she acted like my presence was a inconvenient for her , maybe she doesn’t like her job, maybe she doesn’t like foreigners, I think she doesn’t like both. I never been so mistreated in a clinic/hospital in my life, never in japan or any other country. I don’t recommend this place to anyone, it was a complete waste of time, money and patience. I’m not even sure if my prescription is right because my presence was bothering the person who examined me, now i have to pay to do all the exams again some place else. So save yourself from the worst experience in a clinic in japan, go some place else!

    As a keratoconus patient, my experience at MinamiAoyama Eye Clinic in Japan was disappointing despite the friendly and helpful staff and doctors. The clinic's hybrid lens technology is outdated, overpriced, and unsatisfactory. Their policy for fitting the lenses only offers a partial refund if the fitting fails after four attempts, while patients would typically receive a full refund or other lens options if the fitting is unsuccessful. After living with keratoconus for over two decades, I believe the lack of knowledge among Japanese ophthalmologists regarding current hybrid lens technology prevented the doctor at the clinic from achieving the proper fit. In contrast, the United States-based company that produces the lenses I wear offers different types of hybrid lenses for various patient conditions, which are not available in Japan. Japanese ophthalmologists appear to be unaware of available hybrid lens options for different patient types. The doctor at the clinic even thought all hybrid lenses were the same and was surprised they couldn't achieve the right fit. It is unacceptable that Japanese keratoconus patients must accept subpar treatment due to complacency among ophthalmologists, who prioritize revenue-generating procedures over providing better ocular options for patients. I am venting about my experience, but it is a shame that patients in Japan are denied access to better ocular options. It appears that all services at MinamiAoyama Eye Clinic are more expensive than at other clinics in the area, likely due to the clinic's location and the higher income of its clientele.

    I had LASIK surgery here 04/2018, price as you may expect was about 30% more than average. As I knew nothing about LASIK I figured it was worth the price. Location and clinic are nice, nurses and doctors polite. After treatment my eyes refused to open, they still discharged me, I wandered the streets unable to see then returned where they put some drops in my eyes and I made it home. Had a nap then wow 4K vision! I can honestly say this was a fantastic investment. Be warned the aftercare isn't free and they do seem to milk it a little. Overall very good through

    I did my LASIk in here and absolutely recommended it. From the pre-surgery examination, during the surgery to the post-surgery. They always are very considerate, warm, and professional. In addition, l know zero Japanese, but most of the staff here can speak English. Especially the doctor director who operates on my surgery can communicate with me in English fluently without the language barrier. Overall, l recommend people who want to do LASIK or have similar eye issues to come and visit here, especially foreigners who do not know how to speak Japanese but want to LASIK or other types of surgery in Japan.

We had no appointment of course, but the allowed us in right after their first appointment and the doctor (Iyama-san, apparently a part-time doctor who works elsewhere on other days) was extremely generous.     I've been Dr. Toda's patient for over 4 years, and I had IOL surgery here this past month. I have several vision concerns (I see the opthalmologist at least 3x/year). I have found the staff, technicians and physicians responsive and attentive to my specific needs. It helps to know what you need and to be collaborative in communicating with the staff if you don't speak Japanese. (Or bring a friend with you to translate.) Dr. Toda, surgeon Dr. Miki and other doctors speak English very well, and I have felt listened to during consultations. Dr. Miki has a gentle hand and she calmly spoke to me during the surgery as I requested. I received VERY detailed instructions in English for pre- and post-operative care that were easy to follow. All the necessary disclosures were shared - e.g. there is no guarantee that IOL surgery will result in perfect vision - but so far my results are great. I am grateful that Dr. Toda suggested the surgery, as my life has completely improved now that I don't need eyeglasses or contacts anymore. Dr. Murat said to me during my follow-up, "Have peace in your heart that your vision is improved." I appreciated that sentiment, too :-) I've been through many exams for years here, at another Tokyo eye clinic and in the USA. While this is a busy practice and it takes more effort for me as a non-Japanese speaker to communicate, I find that this clinic is thorough, accommodating, well-lit, pleasant and organized. Plus it's open on weekends and takes Japanese health insurance. I highly recommend MinamiAoyama Eye Clinic, and wish them all the best.

    I underwent elective ReLEx SMILE laser surgery on both eyes with Dr Ikuko Toda, who I couldn't recommend more. She has been one the most serene, steady and calming doctors I have ever had the fortune of encountering. As eye surgery can appear daunting, I was quite nervous about the procedure: she immediately put me at ease by explaining everything methodically and clearly, before, during and after the surgery. This may be a more expensive clinic option compared to the others in Tokyo, but it's more than worth it. Particularly for an English speaker, the process requires clarity and I wouldn't suggest you doing it with a non-English speaking doctor as you really need to be able to follow instructions. The laser part is quick and painless, with the very technically challenging removal of tissue afterwards the only thing that causes mild discomfort, but it's all over in 1 minute per eye. I so appreciate the meticulous work of Dr Toda and her surgical team: 1 day after and I'm typing out these lines, my vision almost recovered, for which I will forever be grateful.

The booking was very easy, the staff was very friendly and communicated very well in english. The doctors were very professional and answered all my questions. I had first a pre-examination to know if I was able to get lasik ( I was) and then a final examination 2 days before surgery. The surgery was one week after the pre-examination. Now my vision is great. I totally recommend this place if you want to get Lasik.

    I have done orthokeratology lenses for two years, and then decided to undergo a lasik surgery. I have been satisfied with this clinic since the beginning, and can highly recommend it. Since this clinic has many doctors, I could get multiple opinions before my surgery. This consensus was very reassuring. Now my vision is perfect and without secondary effects, which is even better than what I was hoping for 😀

    The junior doctor who was checking bifocal sight was laughing at a senior person who was reading the English language paper they gave her rather slowly. Disrespectful. The doctor probably forgot her job ethics. This happened 26th Sept morning session. Purpose was to check vision, not to laugh at non native senior citizen who is making an effort to read to check her vision. I wouldn’t want to go back here, let alone recommend it to anyone

    Good thing is they inform the patient of pros and cons of LASIK without overemphasizing the benefits. I was keen to get rid of specs but after the discussions and briefing I realised I can do without a surgery. It's risks outweigh the benefits in my case. LASIK is not for everyone. Certainly unnecessary for many with minor refractive errors.

    I have been to this clinic at least 4 times and every time, they are consistently on-time (they manage long wait times well), friendly and the doctors, I feel, are very good. They speak decent English and I feel very fortunate that I found them, and I live nearby.

    Really don't understand all the negative reviews. This clinic is very foreigner-friendly, with the staff and doctors speaking English. The doctor was quick to explain my condition to me in a friendly manner, and was overall very pleasant to talk to. The wait can sometimes be a bit long, but it's due to the amount of people attending the hospital, which further proves it's quality.

    I found this clinic in Tokyo and I decide to go because its English Speaker. The doctor was good, even with short time for consultation. She found a infection in my eye. The problem was when I got the blood test, the nurse was too rude, almost took my arms instead of the blood. My arm was bleeding so hard after the needle and after 6 hours I got a big hematoma. I think she was on the rush or just don't know how to do it well...Just be careful when you take blood test.

    I had great experience with Dr Tatematsu. My son had severe dust allergy and at local clinic he was seen for 3 min and no further explanation what to do after week of medications. Dr Tatematsu spoke great English and did several tests on initial appointment, she explained her treatment plan and when to follow up with her, and after 4 months my son eyes finally got much better. I'll definitely come back here for myself as well, if needed, even though it takes time to travel from Hachioji.

    From the first consultation to my most recent follow up appointment, all of the staff I've contact with have been kind in every interaction. My main doctor Ikuko Toda was very clear and concise for any question or concerns I had and I appreciate that the most. Post operation, my eye was uncomfortable but not painful. Just make sure you follow the procedure for the eye drops and you'll be fine.

    The staff helping me was nice, but wouldn't really listen to me even after a lot of back and forth. I walked out with a prescription worse than I had before, and I felt very unsatisfied.     I underwent Lasik surgery here. After doing some research online, I wasn't 100% sure of getting this surgery in Japan, but after talking with the doctors here, I decided to go for it. The main reason why I choose this clinic is that the information about the surgery is available in both English and Japanese and that they had already performed this surgery to a high number of foreigners. Being our facial structure different to the average asian, the technique to operate is different and I wanted a surgeon with experience performing the surgery in this way. The process is very swift and the surgery itself was really quick and painless. You feel lots of discomfort and lots of pressure in your eyes while they are performing it but as I mentioned before, is painless. After resting for 20-30 minutes I was able to go back home by myself, my eyesight getting better by the minute. The first day I felt a heavy light sensitivity so I decided to take a nap. The next day I started feeling better although for the first week or so I wasn't able to see sharp under low light conditions. Which is to be expected. It's important to know that all the checks before making the surgery are free, but from the very next day check you will need to pay. Which is not important nor expensive but took me by surprise (specially the next day check) At the moment of writing this review it's been almost a month since I did the surgery and I couldn't be happier with the results.

    I am so grateful that I found this clinic. They are so warm and welcoming. Each visit they try their very best. Several of the technicians and receptionist can speak English which makes medical procedures so much more comfortable. Even the staff that don’t speak English will try to find a way to communicate with you using easy Japanese and translation devices. The Doctor I saw each time is very fluent in English and was able to explain and answer all of my questions. I felt confident enough in this clinic that I used them for Lasik eye surgery. Again I was grateful for the English speaking abilities and wonderful care. Each step was presented to me calmly and easily. The procedure was quick and painless although a very discomforting sensation. Now three months later and fully healed I am so happy I spent the money for the surgery. Even though I am moving out of Tokyo I will consider making at least yearly visits for a check up at this clinic. My only small complaint was just how expensive the surgery was but the service and kindness of all involved go a long way to make up for it. Thank you!

    Staff is very professional; some doctors can speak English and informational material is available in English too (still, a good command of Japanese makes things much easier). Information and advice given tracked with the one received from other clinics when consulting about refractive surgery. While the surgery was scary, staff did what they could to put me at ease; pain was felt but very slight.
