For the English reader there are only really 2 bookstores in Tokyo that you can rely on, one next to Tokyo station - this one, and the Kinokuniya in Shinjuku. It’s a good respite from the rest of the places if you are traveling in Japan and need a rest and also have a craving for an English environment that is not totally infested with expats and tourists. You can also watch the bullet trains pull in and out of Tokyo station in the cafe next doors, another favorite of mine. The food is not bad but service can be slow during busy hours. Don’t compare it with NY or London bookstores though - it’s just a good physiological haven for those in and visiting Japan.

Woaaahhh BOOOKS. And not just 日本語! Head to the 4th floor for tons of English books! Also some German and French. And it's not just 1-3 shelves; it's like an entire floor. I stayed for many hours and looked at the Harry Potter and Beatles books. There's other stuff up here too, like a stationary store and random art events.

Maruzen is a precious large-scale bookstore in Tokyo because bookstores are in danger of extinction now. They have a wide assortment of books and magazines, especially this store is famous for their large stock of English books. There are various kinds of English books and magazines including technical books on the highest floor. Maybe there are only two bookstores for foreigners in Japan, here, and Kinokuniya in Shinjuku. They also have cafes within the bookstore.

Great bookstore for all book lovers. Books on display are always selected with taste. I appreciate the variety of the books, with Japanese books, mangas, but also manuals to learn Japanese language and bi-lingual Japanese/English mangas. Atmosphere is calm and peaceful, despite the library is very central to Tōkyō. Sometimes you can also enjoy some exhibitions at the kids book floor, with original works shown!

This is one of the best bookstore that i have visited. The 4th level has an extensive collection of 'english' books. There are also a section with lots and lots of pens- from Acroballs to Rottrings to Mont Blancs. Kawaii cards and postcards are also available. Then there's a nice restaurant at the 4F and a cafe at the 3F which has a nice view of train tracks and you can actually eat your sandwich while watching trains go by. And if you are a tourist and your purchases reach 5k Yen, it becomes tax free.

Incredibly well stocked bookstore with 3 Floors. The 1st is business and IT and AI. 2nd is Hobbies, pop culture, manga, magazines DIY, special interest and self help. 3rd is the foreign language and stationary. There are books for language study and guide books for the JLPT exam. The section for Japanese literature in English is huge. I wanted to buy the whole section almost. If you love books please go to this store! You can spend plenty of time here since there is also a cafe and toilets inside the store. It's really worth your while!

Millions of books are served you here. It's not only the japanese books, but also English books on the top floor. Luckily, I occasionally visited this place to see "Sherlock Holmes exhibition". It's near the train station. You will see the sign and walk along the way.

Perfect place for book lovers even if you can't read Japanese, I was looking for a fabric book cover for all over places in Tokyo including Loft and Tokyu hand, and end up got them here. They also carry a lot of English book on the top floor also a lot of accessories during my visit I found many discounted interesting books

I love the collection of English books here. One of my favorites when I go to Central Tokyo as I lose track of time wondering which book to checkout at the cash register. 💙

If you love books and you're in Tokyo, you should check this place out. You can find novels, manga, and the top floor has books in English for foreigners. The staff was friendly and helped me find some Japanese books I was looking for. I bought the entirety of Lord of The Rings in Japanese!

Amazing store! It is a library on several stores and the last one is a stationary one. I loved all the products that I could find there, season thematic, as well as lots of Harry Potter stuff, many options for calligraphy items that I was primarily interested in. Totally recommend visiting this place

Really nice stationery and pens in this bookstore. By the time I got here I'd already spent a small fortune at the Maruzen Nihombashi store so it was just to look and admire and make a note for future visits. I think this store is more modern than the other one.

If you love bookstores, stationery, quiet cafés AND train spotting, this place is perfect for you because you can get all of these within one single location! The bookstore is huge and offers both Japanese as well as English books. ☕️ There are two cafés: one of them is a quiet zone right next to the bookshelves, whereas the other one is closed off and you can freely chat. Both of them offer a great view on the train tracks of Tokyo Station for all the train spotters among you 🚝🚄🚅🚈

Do NOT visit if you love books. I’m serious. Especially if you don’t have enough place in your bags to take them back home. This place is heaven for all book lovers. We visited quite a few bookstores during our stay in Japan and this one had the best AND the biggest offer of English books. Anything from sci-fi and contemporary literature to the latest books on quantum computing. They have everything 😃

I'm glad the top floor has a huge english section! I did buy some books to learn Hirigana and Katakan, as well!

Well-located with the largest selection of English-language books in Tokyo. Across the street from Tokyo Station. Kinokuniya in Takashimaya Times Square is another great bookstore, and has an even larger selection of magazines.

Very large store with 4 floors. If your looking for anything with English, it's all on the 4th floor. If you need assistance there's the tax free section where the staff speaks decent English.

Huge English section. If they don't have the book you're looking for, they'll order it for you, and not even expect you to pay for it until it's come in and you decide to actually purchase it. Super sweet system!

As other reviews state, this is a big store, with a large international section on the 4th floor. Not sure why there's an expensive watch counter; but plenty of other Japanese items to buy - fans, origami toys etc. Books wise, it's expensive.

Very well organized book store with wide range of topics and super friendly staff that help to find the books you are searching for!

Very nice bookstore just across the road from Tokyo station in the Oazo building. Big, clean, best selection of English language books in Tokyo along with Kinokuniya Shinjuku. A small selection of other languages as well such as French. Amazon is generally going to be cheaper for English books. Staff are helpful but don't expect them to speak much English. Don't miss the Picasso in the building lobby.
