This is one of the best meals I had during this trip to Japan. The sukiyaki was incredible. We were served high quality ingredients, and the service was no less than perfect. The decor was very traditional Japanese. I would eat here again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

If possible, get your hotel to make a reservation for you. We started at 7pm and by 830pm they are taking the last orders so I suggest not going there later than 7pm. One of the best sukiyaki around. Prices for the set starts from ¥8,000 all the way to ¥20,000, depending on the cut of beef. Those in the photos are the ¥10,000 set, and it’s already really good.

Asakusa Imahan is my first Japanese sukiyaki experience and they did not disappoint me at all. The wagyu was so tender and delicious. All staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is very clean and spacious too. I usually walk in during late lunch time and never have a problem with the queue. Love everything here.

I fall in love this restaurant at the first visit. Famous old restaurant. Delicious, nice, fantastic.. Real taste of Sukiyaki..and shabu with premium grade of Wagyu-beef. It is different to other restaurants. They have thier own recipe of soup ,sauce and the way to cook meat the best taste of it. You should try it once.. Worth to pay..for it.

This restaurant is awesome. Our waiting line was so long. Many ppl waited for this food. Even though waiting line was too long, the food makes me feel good. We ordered sukiyaki. The beef is really softer than i have experience ever before. When i ate the beef, i felt awesome. I intend to come again if i visit Tokyo to have this food. But one thing was awful. Our server who is old lady seemed to be sensitive and angry during her serving to us. We asked something, she replied sharply answer. I pressed button several times to order other food. But she didn’t come us. She just came to clean empty dishes. I think the price includes service price as well. We feel that we pay more price than other ppl. Because we were not served kind. ( but the other servers were too kind ) But i like this restaurant and this menu as well.

Sukiyaki-Gozen Lunch! *A place where Japan PM Kishida Fumio enjoyed his meal! They have many lunch options, but we enjoyed the basic/traditional/popular Sukiyaki! The first and second round, they will show how to do it for you, so you can enjoy your meal with some entertainment and learning. In regards to queuing, we recommend you to queue early if you didn’t make reservations (at 11:20 we were the 4th group and they let us in from 11:28-ish). Or just don’t forget to make a reservation in advance. Enjoy your meal and experience!

As you can see, I rarely give 5 stars. Basically only when my expectations have been exceeded. This was the case here. Sukiyaki was phantastic, the service impeccable, the atmosphere serene. All in all a great Japanese experience.

Amazing sukiyaki that just melts in your mouth. I don’t think I tasted better sukiyaki anywhere else. Service was really good and they gave me some gifts (beautiful coasters and pens!) However, be prepared to spend!

A solid 5 star, an experience to have in Tokyo. The only down side it waiting time, easily an hour. But they were so kind, apologize several time for the wait. I got the combo for sukiyaki and steak bowl, I would like try the sukiyaki experience next time. The meat was incredible, so soft and tasty. Also all the side dishes that comes have only the best quality.

We arrived at 1:30pm and we still waited for 45 mins for our table. We ordered the 4,400 yen sukiyaki lunch. The server dressed in traditional Japanese kimono. She tried very hard to explain everything to us although she didn't speak much English. She prepared the first few slices of beef for us and some veggie too. She gave us instructions on how to cook the rest ourselves. The beef was very soft and tender. The veggie was high quality too. We felt it was worth the 45 mins wait.

Best of the best sukiyaki. High quality ingredients. The marbled wagyu beef was thinly sliced, super tender and beefy. The sukiyaki sauce was sweet and salty. Dipping the saucy beef into the raw egg is a combination made in heaven. Super soft, savoury and creamy. Definitely a must-have Japanese dish and Asakusa Imahan is definitely the best place to have it. Great traditional Japanese ambience, sitting on a tatami. Impeccable service and all the waitresses were in beautiful kimono.

I went for lunch and everything was amazing and delicious. The restaurant opens at 11.30, I went there 15 minutes prior to their opening times and only 4-5 queue awaited. The price for lunch is very cheap compared to dinner time. Each lunch menu set is limited only 20 set per day. For someone who cant eat beef there is sashimi set available as well. You can walk from Sensoji Temple around 6-10 minutes. The restaurant has real traditional Japanese atmosphere which can perfectly complement the foods.

The best sukiyaki I have ever had. I will definitely go again if I visit Tokyo again. I went to the restaurant 45 mins before it opened. There was already a long line of people waiting there. After the restaurant opened, I waited for another hour to be seated. The 11000 yen set was sold out about 10 mins after the restaurant opened. I ordered the lunch sukiyaki set. The appetizers were delicious and delicates. The vegetable plates had a lot of vegetable good for sukiyaki. The beef plate had 5 pieces of wagyu beef whose fat spread evenly on the meat. The egg for the sukiyaki was fresh and huge. The server will cook for us at the beginning and then we can make the sukiyaki ourselves following the instructions. The sukiyaki sauce has a rich flavor. The beef cook in the sauce until medium is tasty and soft. With the raw egg covering the beef, the beef tastes smooth. The vegetables also tasted really good because they were soaked in the sauce. I also order the beef sushi. The raw beef is really soft. The sushi rice is well cooked. Also, the salt is coarse which fit perfectly with the soft beef since it provides a crunchy taste. In the end, I also bought the sukiyaki sauce to make sukiyaki myself.

Nice experience overall. After you take off your shoes, they will show you to the second floor into your private room. If you need anything there is bell button for service. I like how they bring in seasonal appetizers and decorate it according to the season. They have shabuahabu and sukiyaki. I ordered Sukiyaki because I prefer sweeter soup base. Their beef sukiyaki is good, the beef is not too fatty but I think the size of each beef is a bit small. The staff will serve you in the beginning and teach you how to cook it yourself. They will provide seasonal fruits as dessert. At the end, they will bring you little gifts. It cost around ¥15,000 per person. Good experience overall.

Yummy Japanese beef, blunt service and vintage dinning environment. Shabu Shabu does not usually require any cooking skill if the quality of food is at top quality. In fact, Asakusa Imahan can give you very high quality beef that will melt in your mouth. vegetables are also very fresh. The serving staff could speak mechically English and taugh customers how to Shabu Shabu. Overall dinning environment is good. However, be careful you are assigned to Japanese dinning table. Then you have to sit in cross legged throughout the meal. At the end of the lunch, I asked a staff to give me a cup of tea. The lady said in a rude and blunt manner that this was the end of the meal and no tea would be served. I have never encountered a resturant in Japan to serve their customers like that. Asakusa Imahan is the exception. Don't know their reason for no on line reservation. You have to arrive at least an hour earlier before they open at 11:30 am. In my opinion, it is not worthwhile doing this, there are a lot of restaurants providing similar cuisine in Asakusa, with top quality of beef and attentive service.

We tried both the sukiyaki and shabu shabu. Their plating, service and food were excellent. I’m more a shabu shabu person, but after trying out their sukiyaki, I’ll definitely be coming back and order the sukiyaki again.

An must try if you're in the area. The service is spectacular, and the restaurant is filled with old vibe tradition. The food was very good, slightly on the pricy side, but the service of the staff made up for it. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended! We ordered both Kobe beef sukiyaki and marbled beef shabu shabu! Both are really good and we enjoyed our food a lot. The service is superb and they have also given us a little souvenir before we left.

Highly recommended! We arrived around 12pm Friday, and waited about an hour (the sign showed 80 mins btw). Some people came a bit later after us seemed to wait a shorter time. All I can say is it’s a great meal! The meat (Kobe beef, what else needed to say?), the appetizers, and the rest of the food were all soooo good! The service was pretty good too. My partner always hates waiting in line but even he said it’s worth it lol.

Great service and food. I wanted to experience a luxury meal. The experience was great, but price tag too high. They add 10% tip, which is unusual for Japan. Don’t bother with having desert as it is just half an orange, two strawberries and a little ice cream, for a significant cost. Good Price + High Quality = Value. It was high quality but for me the price was too high. You can find better value elsewhere. But if you like to splurge, it’s a great place to do it.

I would give this place 10 stars if I can! I went to this restaurant in Nov’19 but forgot a leave a review. A recent visit to a Manhattan shabu shabu place just reminded me how good Asakusa Imahan was, so here is my long over due review. The restaurant had a transitional and understated atmosphere. Each dining table has been kept private with separation. The lunch special was a really good deal and the beef was with great quality and literally melting in my mouth. The staff was so attentive as well. The whole lunch experience was flawless. I would go back again and again!

Everyone who has lived in Japan a long time probably has heard of Imahan, who sell first class beef ! During the Corona crisis in 2021 I was lucky enough to receive 10 packs of their ‘Gyu-don no Gu’ or beef topping for rice ! Amazed and delighted by the taste - and it’s for sale at their online shop! Try it ! It’s delicious!
