Staying overnight at Hoo!Hoo! is so far one of my memorable experience in Japan. The location is really peaceful with no typical hustle and bustle of city life. Located at the bank, it offers refreshing views of shallow river water, where you can swim as well. Kato-san, the owner of the restaurant, himself is a remarkable person with fluent English and ready to help and guide any time. The rooms are in really comfortable in traditional Japanese style. An indoor & outdoor onsen, bbq place and bar make it a complete package for weekend where you can have a lot of fun with family or friends.

This is a wonderful little guest house in a beautiful location. The proprietor was social, kind, and went out of his way to make my stay pleasant. This is upscale and elegant without having to pay "Kyoto or Tokyo" prices. The food was excellent, the drink was refreshing and original, and the view was serene. I was sad to leave.

Great design and view over the river valley, English-speaking and very nice owner, delicious home-made ginger ale. We only visited the bar so far but we'll definitely come back to relax on the deck.

Such a charming spot (and charming host). I spent a wonderful night here with friends and we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in and out of a tent sauna that was set up right by the river followed by an outdoor bbq. The views of the river from the lounge and rooms are spectacular and everything is beautifully appointed. The perfect place for a relaxing weekend get away. Will definitely return.

One of the most beautiful place in Japan I visited. The peaceful nature and the river makes the perfect recreational experience. The owner makes the best ume drinks and ginger ale. Also, connecting it with Soto sauna next to the river elevated the experience. Highly recommended.

Hoo!Hoo! is our favorite place to visit during summer time. Kato san (owner) always really friendly and helpful. His ginger ale and ume-soda are amazing! The place by itself really cozy and the wooden smell makes you feel relaxed. If you stay overnight it is really nice chance to enjoy nearby onsens, Kato san will help you to decide which one is the best for you. There is also BBQ set that you can use in the place, which is great. There are more nice things about Hoo!Hoo! and area around Yuyaonsen station that you can explore by yourself if visit that place!

It's such a cozy guest house. I love the design, all wooden. The owner is super hospitable and nice with fluent English. We stayed for 2 days and one night and it was one of the most amazing time I ever had. P.S. U can also do BBQ there. They're well equipped. And be sure to try Ume soda. It's the heavenly drink. I will highly suggest everyone to have a stop there even for a drink. U ll definitely like the view, river view, and company of the owner, Kato-san.

What a charming and soul-comforting place to stay!! Our family stayed for a week and we absolutely feel in love with this place and the surroundings. We enjoyed our comfortable Japanese room, eating the yummy breakfast overlooking the peaceful creek, doing yoga by the river, having private hot spring bath like in Totoro movie, walking to the community pool with a water slide, and bike around through the forest. The ownner of this place Mr. Kato is such a gentleman. We got chance to meet his beautiful family too. They have generations of knowledge about helping travelers where to go to enjoy hidden local foods, cultural heritages, hiking in beautiful mountain villages. We can not express enough of our appreciation for Mr. Kato and his HooHoo! He fixed an old broken house and made this beautiful comfortable Inn full of architectural traits. Our family feel like at home away from home in a beautiful mountain village in Japan. What a magical place!!
