An all encompassing resort with plenty to offer. All of the facilities and amenities you could ever want. Very accessible to public transport and local shuttle buses. Great food and drink offerings. Day and night skiing / snowboarding. Rental shops, gift shops, cafes, restaurants. Maintenance area for equipment. Gondola, myriad chairlifts. Mixed terrain and varying slopes för different abilities. Can always find a sheltered side of the mountain to ski / snowboard even in challenging conditions.

13 Dec Thursday started 9-10am. Entered via Hakuba 47. Went all the way up. Fantastic views. A little too early in the season some slopes are compacted and very hard. Makes it tricky more difficult. Top slopes for beginners are wide at most parts and easier than Hakuba If you are first timer, do not take the connector R8 green beginner slope to Hakuba 47. See photo. This is one part that was wide enough for me to stop to take photo. One was almost S curve turn. Narrow and winding, like initial D. Many beginners were caught out there.

It has several beginner-friendly slopes with a beautiful view. You can purchase the ski lift pass online at a slightly cheaper rate; I got a 3-day pass for 18,500 yen. The chairlift is open from 8:00 to 16:30. Additionally, they offer sunrise and night skiing for an additional fee if you're interested.

The beginner course is perfect for practice, slopes were mildly steep with large bandwidth. Skiing courses are diverse to choose and mountain scene is breathtaking from any angles.

Fantastic ski resort. We tried a few and this one was by far our favourite. Great for beginners or intermediate experience levels. Not too crowded or well big enough to handle the crowds.

Nestled within the captivating expanse of the Hakuba Valley, the Hakuba Goryu snow resort unveiled a canvas of unparalleled beauty, inviting us to embark on an extraordinary skiing adventure. The resort, ensconced amidst the majestic peaks of the Japanese Alps, painted a breathtaking backdrop against which our skiing escapade unfolded. The slopes of Hakuba Goryu, a haven for winter sports enthusiasts, offered a myriad of trails catering to every skill level, from gentle inclines ideal for beginners to challenging runs that thrilled even the most seasoned skiers. The pristine snow-covered terrain, adorned with a powdery blanket of white, was a sight to behold, beckoning us to carve our way through its undulating paths. Strapping on our ski gear, we ventured eagerly onto the trails, greeted by an exhilarating blend of adrenaline and awe. The initial descent down the slopes was a thrilling rush, accompanied by the scenic vistas of snow-laden trees and the crisp mountain air. What truly elevated the experience was the warm camaraderie amongst fellow skiers. Conversations flowed effortlessly, bonds formed amidst shared triumphs and laughter echoing across the resort. Encouraging nods and friendly gestures from other guests fostered an atmosphere of collective enjoyment, turning strangers into companions in this snowy paradise. From our tentative first strides to the more confident, albeit occasionally clumsy, maneuvers down the slopes, every moment was a chapter in a story of discovery and delight. The Hakuba Goryu snow resort became not just a backdrop but an integral part of our exhilarating journey into the world of skiing. As the day drew to a close, the memories lingered – the thrill of conquering new trails, the beauty of the landscape, and the infectious joy that permeated the resort. Our rendezvous with Hakuba Goryu was more than just a skiing adventure; it was an immersive experience that left an indelible mark, promising a longing to return and relive the magic of this breathtaking winter wonderland.

First time skiing in Japan although I’ve done it in Korea and China. Must say the slopes aren’t beginner level (green) unlike what they posted so pls beware. The slopes are varied enough for everyone to have fun, and most of them are quite wide.

Great resort, made up of three slopes. Wide runs and varied terrain for every skill level. Kids play area and multiple sized terrain parks. Great location for families and groups of all abilities. Escal plaza/Iimori is more family friendly. Goryu has more red/black runs for the aggressive rider/skier. Shuttle bus between all three points that’s free with a pass. Restaurants at multiple locations.

Good snow resort for all levels. A bit crowded at the beginner course below (Toomi) even on weekdays. For beginners you can take the Gondola then the Alps 1st Chair Lift up to the Panorama Course, much less people and safer to practise. Really bad visibility up there during a blizzard though. On the top of the Panorama course (right in front of the top of the 1st Alps Chair Lift) you can climb up a short way to the mountain top (Zizou peak) - there’s a shrine that you can ring a bell and take some nice pictures. Go to the side of the slope, its less steep so it’s easier to climb. We went on a heavy snow day so the snow is deep and we actually need to climb (instead of walk) up. It’s around 10 minutes to climb up and 15 minutes to climb/walk/sit-and-move down with deep snow. Make judgement if it’s SAFE before climbing up.

Nice resort with some really good powder when we were there. Easy access via Shuttle buses. Quite a large beginner area my wife loved. Heaps of snow at the top and made visibility almost zero. Was nice and soft snow though.

Nice beginner friendly area. Connected through the resort area and by bus to Hakuba 47 as well. Has a night ski option. The beginner area has a fast lift and a 1km slope so you can chain many runs together smoothly. It is pretty wide as well. There are several beginner areas as well which vary in crowded-ness. It is a nice area to get some practice in.

Bring your skills to your snowboarding. Hakuba Goryu Snow Resort has something to offer for everyone! ⛷️ Whether you are a beginner or advanced, you can ride down wide, easy slopes, or do a spin in the park 🏂 The gondola is a good option when it's a snowy 🌨 day and the chairlifts to the upper part of the mountain gives you access to the best powder ❄️

We came here for a night ski and the facility here is very nice. Good slope for beginner and there’s tiny igloo for night time entertainment by the slope. Super fun!!

The lift tickets are dirt cheap compared to the $100+ I’m used to paying back in the states and they give you access to both Hakuba Goryu and Hakuba 47. There’s a gondola that takes you to the top of the bottom and you can choose to stay in Goryu or go to 47.

Good range of slopes for all level of skiers. Easy access. Bus connected to near by place for free pick up and drop. Decent restaurants.

Good range of slopes, mostly on the intermediate side. The gondola area is good. The organisers are quite strict here, and the snow is tracked over badly on some days.

This is a very good ski resort combine with Hakuba 47. For Goryu resort track probably lot of people and less choice but we just took a cabin up to Hakuba 47 where there are more tracks and the panoramic view and many tracks that you can choose for both green red and black. With nice powder snow. The most impressive is the breath taking view. wonderful weather in February we got blue sky for 3days lucky us. All skier and snowboarders are pretty respectful. I didn’t see any accidents by careless people.

Beautiful. I can’t wait to come back. The facilities here are excellent, and there’s night skiing! They have capsules to keep you warm from the snow on the chairlifts! Lots of food choices, hotel staff are super helpful. I like how there’s a mountain next to the hotel but also one over the road, it makes for a good variety of skiing.

Absolutely great skiing resort. Great for the kids to learn with the help from Hakuba ski school. Would recommended to experienced skiers and beginners

Really got to like this place during our stay in Hakuba. Goryu and Hakua 47 make a great combination. We had some great powder snow. The food on the mountain is not only good, it's affordable too!

We had the best time here. Stayed at an air bnb nearby. We're beginners and intermediate skiers and snow boarders. They have a great 'beginner' run and definitely done fun challenging black diamonds. I enjoyed got chocolate, best I've ever had, halfway down the run and had fun watching more advanced athletes on the moguls. Beautiful beautiful scenery and lots of snow (January).

This is a great ski resort with amazing views and great facilities. The price for rentals and lift tickets is very affordable. This resort also has night skiing available which was a great way to spend more time on the mountain. The staff is very friendly and most of the staff spoke some English and were very helpful.

Had a very enjoyable trip to Nagano!! This ski resort has great slides. We hunt for last minute deals so got ski wear and ski board only on 2000¥. So check it out on different rental shops before you buy, what if you guys are also lucky too ??

Other than a smoking room with lingering smell, the rest of the stay was perfect. They have given me 2 breakfasts of different food. So it’s not fine dining, I would consider it very good. It’s got a bit of everything to satisfy everyone. Small portions but all the many small makes big.

It was snowing heavily that you can’t see the alps, but the experience was amazing

Well equipped resort with some retail, but a tad crowded in the weekends, so plan your lunches early to skip the crowd. Visit in the weekdays if you can, crowd is different and better for beginners, ski lessons in the afternoons were less crowded too.

If you like vintage chair lifts, this is the place to go. Mountain, snow, weather, everything perfect but when do Japanese ski resorts finally start investing in their infrastructure? It's not just Hakuba, but I'm really tired of those 40 year old triple chair lifts, slowest imaginable speed, little wind and they need to stop and of course no comfort at all. That also counts for the culinary offers, those are really not places where you WANT to be. You go there because you have to. Hakuba is certainly one of the better resorts but far from international standards.

Nice big resort. It wasn't the best snow season but we still had a blast! Some of the lifts are a bit slow and old which is why I gave it 4/5. There are lots of great options for food at very decent prices. There are ski options for every level from beginner to expert. This review also counts for hakuba 47 which is on the same mountain as goryu.

Loved it. My family’s and my first ever encounter with a ski resort. The restaurant is packed with people at the time we arrived around lunch time. The snow is wonderful, we got plenty of room to explore the snow. Would recommend ski school to those first timer like us, as skiing only looks easy, in reality it is very hard to master.
