Definitely the worst place I ate in Japan, and I traveled 11 times in this country. The cake is really bad, full of cream and not even tasty. The hot chocolate that cost 1400 yens is just cocoa powder with hot milk… And see how expensive it is for something so bad ! Waste of time and money

Tried the panettone and the strawberry short cake. The latter had a good ratio of cake and cream, but there was almost no strawberry inside. There were only very thin slices that did not provide any taste at all. The chiffon cake itself was also just ok. Considering its premium price, you can find many many many better options in Tokyo. The panettone was a bit dry and not filled with fruits as expected. If you want to try tastier and traditional panettones. You should try the one at the Fiorentina or Less by Gabrielle….

Good pastries but very expensive. Also full of some gross people without masks..hmmmm...staff did not ask them wear them. Restaurant seemed crowded for emergency period

Fav patisserie for their super melon shortcake. And during Christmas it’s super amazing to order their special festive cakes. Had the double shortcake this year in 2022 with super melon and super amaou strawberries .

The food was great and there was many rich people eating here...😮 It's expensive but at least it's not the most expensive place in this hotel. Anyways, it's a great restaurant. Good service. If you have ¥4000, it should be enough.

Amazing breakfast buffet. I've traveled a lot for work throughout Asia and this hotel has one of the best breakfast buffet restaurants around. Both the Japanese and Western options are rich in selection and flavour. Highlights are the omelette station and the udon station. Also a fine variety of baked goods along with juices are offered. There can be a wait on the weekends so come early. Service is fast and friendly.

Premium Super cakes you can exclusively get in Hotel New Otani. Extra Super Shortcakes is worth an experience. Make sure you eat them with empty stomach~

I have been this place multiple times and tried most of their cakes. So far, my fav is the white rolled cake and Tokyo cheesecake. My mom loves the raspberry shortcake with some rose petals on top but honestly it’s a bit too big of a slice for me and I get tired of it while I’m eating. Maybe it’s good to share. Tho other causes are normal size and easily consumable. I still can’t justify their pricing in some cakes considering the taste but my mom would disagree with me. They definitely uses high quality ingredients for sure anyway. Well it can be a good gift or little treat for yourself.

Spectacular short cakes 😍 We had extra super melon and matcha shortcakes. They were truly delicious. Unfortunately, peach and strawberry are seasonal. The coffee was not good and unmatched with the cakes.

Upmarket coffeeshop inside the Hotel New Otani main building. Popular meeting spot for the political classes.

Cons: Lacked hospitality, grace, and tact. Amateur at an international level. Not up to the task for serving large group of kind and easy-going foreign government (including a mayor of a major metropolitan area) and business dignitaries (CEOs, Presidents, etc.) who just arrived jet lagged from east coast of USA, excited to be in Japan and looking for a comfortable first meal. (We never announced who we were, but we shouldn't have to, anyone and everyone should be treated well). Shockingly rude treatment/ possibly racist. Two members left feeling marginalized and disturbed. They yelled at us twice in Japanese despite the fact that obviously almost nobody in the group could understand. My Japanese friend was stunned and said sorry, they had never seen such bad service. The only explanation we could think of was that they were playing to the local Japanese guests. Killed the mood. Not omotenashi. Mediocre food.... A family restaurant would have been faster and more professional, and possibly better food. Pros: On the other hand, the onion rings were quite tasty.
