I went there for the children section and it was very nice. They have a good soft playground for babies/toddlers and my son had a nice time there. In the parents room you can give food, clean and take care of your child, but also weith and measure him. This so convenient.

The only thing that attracted me to this place was the food hall in the basement! It's food galore. Everything and anything you want to eat. You would be lost for choice. You'll have to go around a few times to get over the bombardment of food choices. Sashimi, sushi, tonkatsu, bento boxes, salad, sweets and etc. Great place to get a takeaway for a meal in when you're too tired to find another restaurant to get to.

While it's a pretty interesting high-end Japanese department store, the real gem here is the Kyoto Pokémon Center, which is located on the children's floor. There were tons of tourists there, so it's a bit of a hot spot. They have all sorts of really cool Pokémon goods, and some items unique to this specific store. I bought a set of Hanafuda Cards that are a mash up of Pokémon, and Mario.

Love the food floor, my favourite. Everyone was really nice and understanding. The language problem wasn't really an issue, sometimes we'd have to translate. Overall not a big issue, isn't really a place if you're looking to buy cheaper stuff, it's more pricey and many luxury brands!!

Takashiyama is just a huge department store. But what I realized the most was me visiting Takashiyama primarily for the food they offered in the lower level floors. I love how the food shops have fine, detailed displays of their foods for you to see. It’s hard to say no to beautifully displayed food in nearly every corner. I’m not a huge sweets fan, but the desserts they have look absolutely amazing. The whole food presentation is just top notch. And that’s for a lot of the shops throughout Japan, actually. The department store even has a kimono shop and clothing store as well.

There is a supermarket at the bottom with a really good selection of products. For those who like to bake they have. Big selection of moulds and tools for baking. They also have several small pastries were you can buy delicious cakes. On top floors, you have a lot of products and you can process tax-free. There are bathrooms.

There is a great beer garden on the roof of this building during the summer. You can drink beer and eat food as much as you can. It’s very good place for party and meeting people. The ticket is around 3800¥. There are discounts for men or women on some specific days. This price is much cheaper than most restaurants in the area. Its location is right above the Hankyu railway station, so it’s very convenient for transportation.

Expensive stuff but you can find the best brand clothes here. Charming staff. Communication is a bit difficult but thanks to Google Translator, I got what I wanted. For foreigners tax return is a bit beurocratic, you have to go to the seventh floor to do it.

Similar experiemce with other Takashi, aya in the region. Apart from Japan, experiemce Saigon and Singapore Takashimaya. A lot of high end brand. Tax refund is easy to process, and they deduct service fees arnd 1.55% i guess. Tourist will get 5% off purchase.

A great food hall downstairs, let down by a snide insulting woman working in the wine section. I admit that due to being on vacation and it being very rainy, my clothes were…..informal. Think walking in the rain. But when looking for a good bottle of wine, this woman snidely directed me to the cheapest, least drinkable bottles. Left there and spent around £80 at Daimaru instead.

Good point: they have Nintendo store on the 7st floor. Bad point: you are being charged a tourist tax when you want a tax refund for your purchases. They only process it after purchase and charge you at least 1.65% of the total purchased amount to do the refund. So I paid an extra ~900 JPY just to process the tax refund on my purchases, which is usually an included option at most places during payment… They are just making more revenue when selling to foreigners. They also cannot process tax refunds on your purchases made at the Nintendo store.

You can buy luxury products in this mall. The nintendo store has a timed entry, we have to get the ticket to enter at the subway nunber 10. Excellent food choices that does not close early.

I personally found this branch of Takashimaya to be my favorite. All of the staff I encountered went out of their way to help me. My items were carefully wrapped and bagged and the staff really cared; everyone spoke at least a little English, which wasn’t expected but appreciated. The assortment was outstanding with an excellent range of high, mid and entry level products and brands. From a US perspective, I felt it compared similarly to a Bloomingdale’s. I found the vibe to be more warm and approachable and much less “snooty” than Isetan and Mitsukoshi. There is a great food and liquor emporium on the basement level, wonderful luxury boutiques on the first and second levels and a great clearance department on the top floor. There lots of signage and maps and lots of elevators that made it easy to navigate. Highly recommended if you are visiting or staying in Kyoto.

Strong feeling of nostalgia. Feels convenient and safe. Lockers to store luggage while you shop is a nice feature. Very central part of Kyoto.

Very nice higher-end mall with the great basement food court, however not as nice as the ones you'll find in Osaka and Tokyo.

My wife and I enjoyed shopping here greatly. The staff is extremely pleasant and very helpful. There were many things available that were made in Japan which added to easily finding gifts to take home for friends and family. My only complaint was that, like all public places in Japan I went to, I felt that it was a little warm and was not comfortable after a spending just a few minutes inside. Other than that, a highly enjoyable experience.

Love it! I found Horai555 shop which also serves dine-in option without the long wait as most of the case with this brand.

A little hard to find but the Pokemon center is amazing! It is inside the department building and is just full of Pokemon stuff. If you go during the right time they have games where you can win amazing Pokemon stuff!! I got an awesome towel with alola eggexcutor which is soooooo long! I love it! All the items are high quality and they have special Kyoto merchandise there. If you love Pokemon even a little it's worth the visit
