Unfortunately this clinic charges extra fees to those that do not speak Japanese fluently. On the day I arrived at the clinic the staff were very polite and helpful. I explained to them that is was my first time there an that I would like to see a doctor or make an appointment. The receptionist then gave me a a sheet of paper explaining that there is a mandatory 10,000 yen monthly fee for foreigners, allowing them speak in and fill out paperwork in the language of their choosing. They didn't try to hide it, they were very upfront. Firstly, I believe that it is morally wrong to impose these sort of restrictions on people based on their skin color and language abilities. Regardless I said Japanese was okay and I would communicate that way. They didn't want to do that (Based on the website and reviews I am now reading, the doctor speaks English well but how could I be sure his English is better than my Japanese without ever speaking to him). Well I didn't want to pay 10,000 yen every month to see the doctor so I said I would come back with another person who could speak Japanese and English well to translate. They refused. This entire conversation took place in Japanese. In summary I would recommend another clinic that doesn't charge fees because you are a foreigner. P.S. It seems the owner of the clinic is commenting and saying that he only charges this fee to people with Japanese insurance, but that is a ridiculous defence. That just means he is purposefully targeting the people in and around his community. I fail to see how that is better.

Worst experience ever 1. The doctor wants to charge you for “translation” when he does not have a Translator, asking 11,000yen even if one has an insurance card and referral from a doctor. 2. The Doctor won’t spend any time with you, just asking what you want and prescribing you whatever you want. Some other times the receptionist will write you a subscription without being checked. Maybe one’s health conditions changed? No blood test? urine test? even one has preconditions and literally will show him a list of medications he is taking? Never heard off. 3. Receptionist will screen you in front of all patients. If one wants to talk to the doctor about a health problem, you will need to tell all the receptionists 20s years old. Never heard of it. 4. One is a permanent resident with health insurance and Still be charged other fees not heard off? At least if he clearly stated that there is a charge for him speaking English One will consider before if to visit or go elsewhere! Japan has the best practice of medicine worldwide, never had a better experience visiting a doctor in any other country worldwide, a hospital, a private clinic, but this is one of a kind experience. If the doctor spends so much effort to contradict the reviews/complaints of many visitors to his clinic means he has free time and no patients perhaps? I am asking why so many negative complaints on this practice besides this review and all complaint about the same, read them all before you read this one and make up your mind. There are 68 of them so far go to the bottom first. If this doctor is ready to sue for an honest review, maybe he needs first to call the patient and talk and ask what’s wrong. Which doctor publishes a name of a patient without his agreement and his day of birth? Isn't it called malpractice? a forbidden action in any country ?!!! Do you want a doctor who publishes your personal information online? If this doctor wants to sue anybody of his patients he is welcome and we will bring the long list of unhappy patients as witnesses!!!

One star is explained below. The doctor was great. He asked if I could speak Japanese (I can only speak a little) and offered English, which he was very proficient in. Also pretty personable in his delivery of treatment. The nurse was nice, though my tattoo disproprotionately shocked her for medical staff. I'm not judging her cultural upbringing. It was just funny. The issue was the younger looking staff member with the boy band haircut. When I arrived, I told the other English speaking reception staff I absolutely must leave by 12pm to get to work. After a somewhat lengthy wait (which is totally ok), I saw the doctor and I was waiting to pay. I said I need to leave soon to get to work otherwise I will be fined 30,000 yen ($300) from my monthly salary. They said to take a seat. It got to the point where I had to leave to be on time, which I said to the staff member that asked me to wait. The boy band hair staff member interjected and said if I left they would call the police, said no one else complains about waiting, and that I should have said something before. I simply said I did say something when I arrived and sat down because what else could I do with a threat like that (all over a bill of less than 2,000 yen/$20). This shows a disgusting amount of privilege and lack of empathy. I'm sure this guy has never worked for a company with such strict rules in his life, and to show zero understanding of other people's situations is a disgrace. He was also very rude to suggest I hadn't said something earlier rather than try to offer a quick solution. He could have said, "we'll keep hold of your insurance and resident cards until tomorrow and you can pay then", as to get replacements would cost me far in excess of the exceptionally reasonable fee, so obviously I would come back, pay and get my cards back. This guy should get some training in customer service because if I acted like that at my job I would be fired. Edit: the place has replied saying I was trying to leave without paying. This is factually untrue. I was trying to leave to get my train and didn't know how much it would cost because they wouldn't just say the number. If I knew it would be less than 2,000 yen I would have left them 3,000 yen and come back for the change and my insurance card the next day.

If you want English support they expect you to pay an extra ¥10,000 yen even if you are a resident and have a medical card. I have lived in Japan for 3 years and never experienced that from a clinic before. 👍

They charged me for a mask before informing me that if any English was used at all it would results in an additional 10,000 yen fee (about $100 bucks). I speak Japanese conversationally but of course there would be English involved with diagnosis translations and certain medical terms etc a non fluent speaker wouldn’t know. Avoid this place at all costs if you are not a native level Japanese speaker.

Got to say, I used to really like this place. But they're starting to charge 10,000 yen for English "consultation services". I'm going to be shopping around for another doctor.

I do not recommend this doctor at all… I do not advise you come to this clinic. I was there for a health checkup examination, and was recommended to take extra options. After seeing my results, doctor had advised me that I had no problem with the results. Doctor had very arrogant attitudes, and had provided no specific detailed explanation to my questions which I asked. After getting checked up with other doctor, I was diagnosed as serious illness from their examination. this place is very unprofessional. Also their receptionist is unprofessional as well in terms of scheduling, explanation, and taking calls properly. I have wasted so much money to this clinic and wanted to share my horrible experience here at this clinic.

There is a fee of 10.000¥ in addition to the medical bill, for who can't write kanji. Unethical and opportunistic.

Charge 11,000 yen (around $75) to foreigners for English. It is a shady business practice showing prejudice to those who aren't Japanese. Also you replying to every 1 star reviewing calling it a lie without your automated message does not make them any less true. You should he ashamed of yourself. This clinic is not for you if you aren’t Japanese

They want to charge you ¥10000 in advance for helping you in English without actually proving you that the medical staff and doctor speaks the language. Is was so frustrating because they didn't put that info in the web page so I wasted my time going there

Excellent clinic! The reception staff were extremely thorough about how their system works, including payments and insurance. Yes there was a charge for English service which I don’t agree with (and it has put me off returning) but as a foreigner living in Osaka, when you’re really struggling with a medical problem.. a good English speaking doctor is hard to find, so that extra fee didn’t matter so much. The staff behind the reception counter spoke excellent English. The doctor himself was amazing! He had an excellent bedside matter, spoke perfect English, was thorough and took his time listening to me and explaining everything in detail. I’m really glad I found this clinic and would highly recommend it.

The staff and the doctor were highly professional and attentive. Speaking English to the staff member assigned to foreign patients and speaking to the doctor was easy there was no problem at all communicating with them. Facilities were clean, modern and despite being very busy (he had 8-9 other patients in the waiting room) spacious enough to fit everyone with no issues. Billing was efficient and reasonable (it’s highly regulated in Japan - so any claims of over-billing by anyone else is likely to be fraudulent). Very satisfied with this clinic and I would recommend it to anyone who needs an English speaking doctor in Osaka.

I travel from Kyoto to visit this clinic. It's easy to find from the station. The staff are friendly and helpful. Most importantly I found the Doctor extremely professional, knowledgeable and patient. Moreover, his English ability is at a very high standard. It's comforting to know I have this clinic to visit when I need to.

Reasonable price compared to other hospitals/clinics for foreigners. Also the quality of the medical technique is terrific. Explicit interpretation, kind and warm-hearted staffs. I think it’s difficult to find such a hospital that can deal with us, foreigners, in Japan like here. If I have something in the future, I would definitely swing by this hospital again.

Great place to go if you are a foreigner in the Osaka area. I was here on a trip and fell ill. I walked into this clinic at open (10AM) and walked out with the antibiotics I needed by 11AM. The doctor speaks great English and is very polite. The staff does not speak English but thanks to a series of premade forms and QR codes they have prepared in English the whole process is very streamlined and painless. Just be sure to bring your passport. I paid $400 as I do not have Japanese health insurance but it’s a price I would gladly pay for this peace of mind.

Not without flaws, but good overall. I came here to obtain a medical clearance for employment purposes, after a different clinic failed miserably (that is another story). The doctor and his staff were highly competent, and understood the requirements for my clearance. They were additionally accomodating of my needs and spoke proficient English (cheers, Tetsu!). My only concern: I wonder if Yodoyabashi Clinic's medical and reception staff need to improve their communication. When I mentioned that I required a comprehensive metabolic panel, the reception staff seemed confused and asked me to explain in at times excruciating detail. Although my Japanese may not have been entirely clear, it seems a bit odd for a patient to explain what a comprehensive metabolic panel is (let alone in a non-native language!). I suggest that Yodoyabashi Clinic's medical staff improve hiring and training measures for reception staff to potentially ensure a more efficient reservation process. If reception staff had working knowledge of medical terms, it would not necessitate patients to explain their needs in granular detail. That said, the reception staff were kind enough to email my lab test results. My clearance was successful, thanks to Yodoyabashi Medical Clinic. I recommend this clinic overall; however, you may encounter some minor impediments.

I think this place is very good. I went because I was experiencing chest and arm pain and fatigue. The office is located close to the subway station on the 4th floor of an office building. The doctor spoke incredible English and took a chest x-ray and did an EKG. I'm fine. The problem is that their pricing structure is not explained clearly although, it's in English. It does seem you have to pay a translation fee to go if you do not speak Japanese. Since the doctor spoke English, I am not sure what this fee covered. The problem is not with the clinic, or the service, it is that it's impossible to figure out their pricing structure, even though the sheet is printed in English. It's just not clear to a fluent English speaker. But they definitely made a good effort. Unfortunately it needs more work. But if you are from the USA, the care is not expensive. I paid about $300 USD for everything, (all fees and tests). The care I got was great! The doctor was great. Rest assured, this is a very professional, good place to go if you are sick. I highly recommend it.

I had a great experience at this clinic as a tourist. I had been sick for over a week, and had already seen a different doctor elsewhere, but the prescriptions were not helping. The internal medicine consult was quick & easy as a walk-in, the staff was friendly, and the doctor spoke very good English. He was very kind and worked hard to understand my situation. There was an additional fee (for foreigners only, I believe), but they tell you this up front and I was okay with the cost. Lastly, they kindly emailed me my bill a few days later once I had gotten home and realized I lost the physical copy. Thank you for the great experience!

Very nice clinic. The doctor was very attentive and helpful. They took their time and did all necessary tests. Great service. (People are complaining about the translation fee. I went through my travel insurance so I didn’t see any charge)

If you are an English speaking visitor or resident I highly recommend this place. It was so easy and honestly reasonable for the cost. I pay the same in Australia for a Dr so seeing an English speaking Dr in Osaka was just so easy and worth the cost. He also was able to help sort my issue immediately.
