Interesting sculptures. But Pretty small. Cash only just like all the other temples. Was not free despite what google said.

An absolutely ace facility filled with national treasures, including 1300 year old statues of the 10 Disciples, and Asura. The piece de la resistance is a towering 1000 armed lannon that words simply cannot describe, sadly no photos allowed and very tight security to keep watch.

Go to Todai-ji and you won’t miss a lot if you don’t pay to go inside. The inside is not very spectacular and you can see the outside without paying.

Relatively small but impressive display of national treasures. Be advised that silence is expected throughout the gallery. My three-year-old received a very polite scolding from a member of the staff for asking questions in a conversational tone. Anything above a whisper is out of place and you should consider the ability of your children (and perhaps yourself) prior to paying the entrance fee.

This is worth the visit only to see the 6-arms statue Ashura one of the protector of Buddha. The place host a fascinating series of national Treasures .

This is a great museum to visit. The shrines in the same area are not worth the entrance fees but this one is worth a look. (July 2019)

Medium sized but impressive museum of old Buddhist statues and such. Costs 700 yen to enter or 900 with eastern hall combo ticket.

Tremendous palace, lots of history. Numerous historic artefacts, some dating of the 13th Century. Wonderful discoveries to be made!

I wasn’t sure what this was before entering, but it was a museum like building for Buddhist items (called here treasures). From what I can understand, Buddhism is prominent in Nara so the area around it is mostly Buddhist history and shrines.

The place is huge and is just a 15-minute walk from the Nara station. The route to the place has a lot of shops and a lake just across the entrance, which is also great for pictures. The Palace grounds, if I may say, is free to all as it is a park. We didn't go inside the Palace since we are very happy taking pictures around. There are some reconstructions going on, but the place is open and the deers are around the place. Nice to just look around, take pictures then proceed to the next spot.

World heritage site. Worth to visit for many impressive buddisum statues. 700JPY is not over price. Taking photo is not permitted.
