Stopped by after walking for a couple hours in Nara Park. Curry with pork belly and the chicken+spinach curry were so tasty we finished in under 15 mins. They even have half size portions for those that aren’t starving or can’t eat too much in one sitting. Owners were so kind they even gave us these deer origami as we left! Would recommend to anyone looking for homemade curry away from the busier streets.

I cannot say enough about this cute cafe hidden in Nara. This husband and wife team make the best curry in Nara, as well as delightful tea and desserts. It’s a must go. The service is outstanding and they made us feel right at home. I left feeling well fed and immediately relaxed from the atmosphere. They gave us a beautiful origami at the end of our meal and played the Beatles on the guitar. A once in a lifetime experience, truly. Thank you again!

(Translated by Google) I happened to pass by when I went to a famous soba restaurant that has been featured on TV many times near this shop. I remember being very surprised when I was in the middle of an alley where one person could pass, "Well, at home, at a store, at a curry?" I visited today with the intention of taking the plunge. "Seasonal grilled vegetable curry" was very delicious. With just the right amount of spiciness, you can add the spiciness to your liking by sprinkling the orange spices on the table. One or two drops are enough spicy. The sweetness of the vegetables was enhanced by the spices. However, the size is a little small, so men may not be satisfied. The size of the vessel was about the size of an iPhone, and it could be hidden by hand. Next, let's eat pork curry made from sake lees!

This restaurant is a hidden gem in a quiet and quaint Nara neighborhood. This was my first time ever trying Japanese curry so I wanted to make sure I went somewhere local and with a good atmosphere. I was not disappointed at all with the friendly husband and wife running the restaurant. The food was amazing and I love that they offer 1/2 portion size plates so you can try different plates without ordering too much food at once. I got the chicken curry (full size) and the baked curry (half size). I’ve never seen baked curry before but it tasted amazing especially the cheese on top. At the end of my meal I ordered cookies and ice cream with a hot tea. The wife also spoke very good English and was helpful on explaining the menu. Please try this restaurant if you’re in Nara. Side note: this restaurant is located in an alleyway so it can be hard to locate at first. I added a pic of the alleyway for reference.

I visited here on my second trip to Nara. I've lived in Japan for two years and this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The curry was balanced in flavor with great additions of meat and vegetables. I had the chicken curry and a chai tea which both were amazing, the chicken curry was not spicy but spicy oil could be added which added a nice kick to it! The tea was lovely with a great chai smell and flavor. The owner speaks good English too which I appreciated since my Japanese isn't the greatest. A great cozy spot away from the tourists for a great meal. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. It was also a great experience for my friend who visited me here. I can't express my gratitude more to this establishment, the experience alone made the trip to Nara worth it.

Upon entering this hidden gem, I realized it would be worth it. A small place, full of charm, meticulously cared for, and incredibly welcoming. While not a curry expert, the rice was perfect, and the curry was a delight. We ordered the Vegetable Curry and the Chicken Curry with Spinach. To complement the meal, we had tea with a selection of jams and a beer (unknown brand). The service is Michelin-worthy. I don't know when I'll return to Nara, but if I do, I'll definitely dine at Curry & Cafe Koruri. The staff, a lovely and friendly couple, are patient and helpful. You can feel the love they put into everything. Simply marvelous. Thanks for the experience 🐒

Delicious curry! The menu has some parts in English, and the server can speak some English as well. I ordered the chicken with spinach and it was served with a small side of pickled vegetables. I mixed the vegetables in with my curry and added some of the spicy oil that they had on the table. Would definitely come again.

What an absolute find on Google maps on a very hot day in Nara! The cafe is located on a quiet side street and was a welcome respite from a lot of walking around the city. The owners were so lovely and welcoming (we were the only ones there) and were very considerate of us drinking enough water and taking our time before continuing with our day. There are only four curries to choose from (one of which is vegetarian). We ordered the three meat ones and all were delicious. My favourite however was the one we got as a half size: pork with sake lees - such a unique and deep flavour. We will come back!

Really small cute little place. The lady at the counter was very very nice and had good English (menus also have some English on them). Got the chicken curry and it was definitely one of the better curries I’ve had in Japan and was made even better after the long walk through Nara park and the primeval forest to the peak of mount wakakusa. The curry didn’t taste too strong of spinach despite containing it, but all the flavours were deep and not overpowering. Got an ice coffee as well which was pretty standard and refreshing but you could control your sweetness which was nice to have. Also got the ice cream and it was really creamy and rich, and the addition of the berries added a nice touch. They even gave us a cute little origami deer as a gift! Also, the lady accidentally overcharged one of the people I ate with but we didn’t care to go back since the place is so nice and he didn’t mind being charged some more. But she came running to find us and give my friend back his money! Incredible service truly. Definitely worth coming to if you’re in Nara around Nara park.

Absolutely wholesome experience. We visited this place after a whole day of trekking in the Nara park and the pork curry was one of the best I ever had. Also, the lady who served the food was one of the nicest people so far I've met in Japan. Would give 6 stars if I could :)

I love this quaint little place that’s run by a husband and wife. The curry is delicious and beats the chain curry restaurants you find all over Japan. Definitely worth stopping in if you’re a curry lover, like me. I ordered the first curry on their menu. I could literally eat it everyday! Their desserts are wonderful too. Thank you so much to the owners for this wonderful place. I will remember this place and miss it when I go back to America!! Also, the gift at the very end after paying melted my heart. You don’t find this type of hospitality back home ❤️

Lovely ambience and delicious home made curry. They have a well translated English menu and you can order any dish in half-size so good for those who wants to try more on the menu (for example me). I had the seasonal special curry - very tasty. And tea with three kinds of jam (grape, orange peel and fig) which went well with tea. About 10 mins walk from main attraction so great for a quick bite without paying for overpriced tourist food.

This place was so fantastic to stumble upon. The food is delicious, and I love their attention to detail. The couple running this comfy cafe is super friendly and helpful. They also gifted us with origami to go! I 100% will return on my next trip to Nara! Also: so you know the impact this place has... This is me still thinking about my trip from March 2019. (It’s now June 2020)

The best Japanese curry I have ever had! This was such a lovely and authentic experience. Walking into this cozy shop I felt instantly at home and welcomed by the owners who were so excited to see my baby boy!! They even got to give him a few cuddles 🤗 This is your classic mum and pop shop that holds a lot of love and attention to detail, when I visit Nara again I will be back! Thank you for such a warm and loving meal :)

(Translated by Google) Visited on the way home from shopping with Mr. Haruka for the opening celebration of the store that gave me a connection. The entrance looks like a private house and it is a little difficult to visit, but a nice woman greeted me when I entered. I went for grilled curry, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be on the menu now. All of them looked delicious, so I chose two items for the snack curry. Choose autumn vegetable curry and sake lees pork curry, along with specialty coffee 🎵 Autumn vegetable curry is excellent with seasonal vegetables and curry. Sake lees pork curry was a sour curry. Both the spice oil on the table? You can adjust the spiciness with Both were delicious and I was drenched in sweat. The after-meal coffee is also a dish that has a condensed flavor without any unpleasant taste. After a long time, I am very satisfied with delicious curry and delicious coffee. However, did you have it piled up according to my physique? It was a curry with a lot of rice, probably because the balance between rice and curry roux was a little bad. Next time I want to eat grilled curry.

(Translated by Google) When I went to a nearby shop, I passed by, home? shop? I was worried about looking at the menu while thinking. It took a little courage to enter, but when I was wondering whether to eat the sake lees pork curry, which the store was kind to me, or the limited edition, the snack curry was half, so two for one. I was able to eat two without worrying about the amount. Both of them had a very gentle taste, but they were also rich and delicious. In the store, there was also a watercolor painting that was written by the store. It was as beautiful as the photo. Curry too, but you can also enjoy it with your eyes. As for the curry, the pictures in the store changed every month, so I thought I'd try it again. Finally, I received a poster card written by the store staff. Coincidentally, there was a landscape that I had taken in the picture, so I chose it.

Truly delicious curry in a wonderfully cute little place. You should try the sake pork belly it is very good and defnitly something special u cannot find everywhere. The price was also very good for what you get. All in all a highly recommended place. The place sparks a lot of little details (particularly hand crafted mini models of items, houses and animals) that are arranged tastefully in a Japanese style. The woman who served us was incredibly friendly and spoke some English as well. To the owners: thanks for this great experience! ^_^

Tucked away in a quiet residential area, this small curry restaurant is truly off the beaten path. I had the chicken curry and the mixed bean curry. Both were incredibly good! And there is a small container of oil on the table that you use to increase the spiciness of your dish. The husband/wife team that runs the restaurant were very friendly and helpful too. It’s well worth the effort to seek out this hidden gem when in Nara!
