Had a wonderful time at this stunning ryokan. The rooms and the garden are beautiful, traditional, and curated in every detail. Our room had a terrace with a private onsen, which was extremely convenient and personal. As a couple we also tried the private onsen in the gardens at 6am and caught gorgeous views of mount Fuji. The kaiseki dinner and the breakfast were of very high-standard, unique, delicious, beautifully made and presented. The staff was extremely kind and attentive, with a level of service unparallelled to the West which starts right at the point of arrival. No issues with English at all - it was a little slice of paradise.

Not only is this place stunning and tranquil, the service and food are incredible. The dinner may have been the best meal of my life, absolutely wrecking any michelin star restaurants i’ve ever tried. The service is so caring and quick, this kind of service does not exist in the west. I came alone, but I brought a friend to dinner and breakfast since it serves two — They were so kind as to drive him back to his hotel all the way by Hakone-Yamoto Station after the bus and cabs had stopped for the night. Also the baths are incredibly clean and relaxing — there are plenty of amenities too like a garden to walk through and foot massage machines. The bed was also very comfortable I cannot recommend this place enough 6/5 stars

Highly recommend! This was a splurge for us, but WORTH it. The hospitality was incredible (we love Aiko who helped us throughout our stay, and was so attentive and kind), the dinner and breakfast were our favourite meals in Japan, the onsen and garden were serene and relaxing... Our vacation had been go, go, go, up till this point, and Yoshimatsu was the best way to relax, rewind, and reset.

Amazing experience - must do in Hakone! The experience started with the warmest welcome as we were looking around for the ryokan, a smartly dressed man came out of the hotel property to guide us up the hill into the property. Upon arrival, we were greeted by numerous people and our shoes were whisked away and replaced with slippers (they took good care of them until we left - didn't see them a single time!). We had high quality matcha and desserts as they prepared our room and then we were led to our room and introduced to our amazing attendant Rikei (sorry about the spelling!). She was simply outstanding and extremely accomodating despite our language barrier, and was the highlight of the experience. She was so kind and friendly, and had the patience to meticulously set out our room and dinner and explain everything to us with translations. The dinner was divine and served in our room by our lovely room attendant and our beds were made afterwards whilst we enjoyed a soak. Amazing experience in a beautiful setting - do have a try!

Wonderful Japanese hospitality. The hotel has a public hot spring bath and a family bath, which is convenient if you are traveling with kids. A beautiful garden with a view of Mt. Fuji. Dinner and breakfast are included, served in a traditional Japanese style (there would be a separate meal for kids). Also, you would be dining in a private room . The room was very spacious and clean. Although it may looked dated, the room had excellent wireless internet, as well as two USB ports. We didn't use the TV, but it was small and looks old.

This place was nothing short of exceptional. The service was spot on and we were greeted by multiple members of staff upon our arrival which was a nice surprise. The room was really spacious and immaculate, and the dinner and breakfast was absolutely sensational. We also had a private onsen which was really nice and quiet, and the garden that it sat in was really pretty as well. The location was also really good as it's a short walk from Hakonemachi-ko port and not far from other local attractions as well.

Absolutely amazing experience. The food, service, ambiance were all perfect. Very romantic. We had a private onsen in our room but there's also a private onsen and public onsen you could use. We will definitely return here again. The kaiseki dinner and breakfast were delicious.

Kind and attentive service about every detail, from the welcome to the goodbye. Private, public, and family onsen provides a variety of experiences. Kaiseki and breakfast experience was superb, with lots of amazing dishes and service was perfect again. Just going to mention service for a 3rd time because it was that nice. Thank you for the amazing stay!

We stayed at a corner room with private onsen and a pretty garden and it was worth the anniversary splurge, included with it a full kaiseki dinner and breakfast. Each pretty dish was lovingly prepared and tastes fresh. We were attentively served by Emiko, a lovely lady whose hospitality and sincerity in her profession shone brightly through the language barrier. Would highly recommend this upmarket ryokan for its privacy and traditional Japanese hospitality. If you let them know in advance, they will pick you up from the nearest bus station to the hotel.

One of the best hospitality experiences I’ve had in my life! Every care is taken to make sure you’re comfortable from the moment you step on the property until you leave. The meals were extraordinary (better than some of the notable kaiseki restaurants we’ve eaten at in Tokyo and Kyoto), the grounds and onsens traditional and peaceful, and our room was massive with full views of Lake Ashi and Mt. Fuji. Our attendant who brought us our meals spoke great English and was absolutely lovely. I’d recommend this to any any US or EU based visitor who wants a luxury ryokan experience. Worth every penny—we can’t wait to return!

Absolutely no complaints, I visited here as a surprise birthday present for my S/O, we stayed in a corner room with attached onsen, dinner and breakfast included, for context. The room was beautiful, very spacious and comfortable, felt extremely high quality. The food was fantastic, dinner specifically was one of the finest meals I've ever eaten. Breakfast was also delicious, and the portions were very generous. The service was fantastic, it's very different to western hotels, our meals were served in the room. The staff were very accommodating. It was a one-in-a-lifetime experience. The price is high, but I definitely got my money's worth.

This ryokan is located at a discreet location that is not too far from the lake cruise tour spot. Best to drive in order to access this location. Good for families or couples who prefer some peace and quietness from crowds. Hospitality was top notch right from the point I drove through their main entrance all the way till my check-out. The delicious dinner and breakfast spread was very traditional and very filling. Choice of private or public onsen are both available. Overall it was a very satisfying stay just to relax and unwind in old school Japanese style in Hakone.

I had the pleasure of staying here at this beautiful place for my first Ryokan experience, so I won't presume to be able to judge in comparison to other similar inns, however I can say I was awed by the whole experience. The grounds, to include the beautiful garden and Onsen facilities as well as the traditional rooms, were maintained to an impeccable standard. Service was up to these high standards as well, with special care being taken to introduce newcomers to Ryokans to the facilities. While prices are definetly high, this is definitely justified and includes an overwhelming dining experience as well. Overall, if you can make room in your budget for this beautiful Inn, you certainly will not regret taking the time to stay here.

We were greeted with a Japanese tea. The staff was absolutely lovely and really dedicated. The room was very spacious, tidy and felt really traditional. The dinner and breakfast were both composed of plenty of small dishes but all of very good quality and taste.

The Yoshimatsu was an alien experience for us as western tourists. At first we were apprehensive of the level of service from the servers. However, the rooms are large, the food is very high level Kiseki with so many dishes that are beautifully prepared. We went for a private hot spring and think it is the only way for a couple to really enjoy that together as the public baths are gendered. The garden surrounding our onsen were very serene. The servers were very nice, though the level of English wasn't high with our second server but you can't expect that around Japan generally. We had a wonderful and relaxing time but think the two nights we opted for was the perfect amount of time as any more could be too much. You can't really go about your business without assistance or acknowledgement from the staff. So it is very full on. Overall, highly recommend.

An unforgettable Ryokan (traditional Japanese Inn) experience, with amazing food and staff who go above and beyond to ensure you are able to relax. We stayed in a Japanese style room with tatami mats and futon beds and would thoroughly recommend this for an authentic experience. A gourmet meal of many courses of traditional Japanese cuisine (from Sashimi and miso soup all the way to more exotic seafood and vegetable dishes) was served in our room every night by the wonderful staff, after which we rested in the Onsen (hot spring baths) until our aches had all melted away in a cloud of steam. Truly relaxing, and an experience we felt so lucky to have enjoyed.

Never have I experienced such kind, attentive service. In addition, the gardens, accommodation and food are simply beautiful. For anyone wanting to experience the serenity and harmony of a first rate Ryokan in Hakone, this is the place to come. Our thanks to the incredible staff for their warm hospitality.

Incredible Ryokan, I can't recommend coming here enough. Fantastic service, with clean and beautiful amenities. We booked the room with the private onsen and can't be more happy that we did! Loved having a chilly soak. Word of warning to other small eaters like me, lots of food is served so come hungry!

Amazing service, plenty of space in the rooms (a kitchen short of a full apartment, really). Gorgeous gardens. Two open onsen, one private. Outdoor bath attached to the room, and an indoor bath as well. A little hard to get to, but it's a very quiet place. Wish I had stayed longer!

This is a very modern and elegant ryokan. The service here is the highest quality. The dinner and breakfast are exquisite. The private outdoor bath for the rooms is also outstanding. We enjoyed every single second of our stay here and would come back again if we ever come back to the lake.

We stayed at Yoshimatsu for two nights and it was a wonderful experience, highly recommended!. The place itself is not big and has a very homey feel to it and its layout is unique, the rooms surrouned a lovely Japanese garden with a small waterfall. The facilities as a whole is extremely well kept and clean. The public onsen is for private individual use and is kept really nicely with everything you will need right there. The food was unbelievable - beautiful and tasty (however we are both foodies willing to try anything once). The staff was the nicest and most accommodating staff I, personally, have experienced in a hotel, evey request was met quickly with a smile and every quetion answered. The only downsize we found to the place was his location which is a little further out, but dont let this detour you - they offer a free shattel to and from the bus station/nearest town. Every morning after breakfast we were asked were we wanted to go and when, and as requested the shattel was there to take us. The same when coming back, we just called and within two minuets the shattle was there to pick us up.
