We had an amazing night there! The food was exceptionally good, great meat in cheap prices! I recommend taking their red wine too, it was very good. The chef was soooo nice, we felt like we were personally served. Thank you for an awesome experience! Please go there!

Wonderful little bar/restaurant. Chef is funny and friendly, and of course cooks great food. English menu is available.

We originally were drawn to the gimmicky fire ramen restaurant next door and came in to this restaurant for some drinks. The delicious foods which were being cooked in front of us lead us to order our dinner here instead and boy did we make a great decision!! Not only did we get cheap and great drinks (try the peach sake, it's delicious) but the food we ordered was top notch and some of the most tasty foods we've had during our Japan trip thus far! Definitely come to this restaurant instead of the long line next door, you won't be disappointed! Plus the owner is super friendly and so happy to cook for you!! Best dinning experience we've had thus far!

A very nice experience in this cosy Yakiniku dining place. We were hearty welcomed by the owner and his wife with a bright smile, and the food was great. The meat was tender, juicy. And the accompanying sauces (different for each type of meat dish) were stellar.

I went out with my mother for her birthday, looking for somewhere nice to have dinner near Nijo Castle as we were staying in the area. We had heard about the ramen shop next door but the line was long so we had a look around and stumbled upon this cozy restaurant. It was 30 minutes before their opening time, but after enquiring, the lovely owner Iwai was nice enough to accept us early. He provided us with an English menu, and because of the occasion, we decided to go all out and chose the premium A5 wagyu 250g ribeye and sirloin. After asking about the plum wines on offer, the owner recommended us a delicious Umeshu. The steaks were incredible. They were perfectly cooked and served on a hotplate, with the steaks sitting on a bed of onions, caramelising them in the A5 wagyu fat. Each bite from start to finish was so juicy and tender. This was further enhanced by the condiments provided, primarily the wasabi and the homemade steak sauce. The service Iwai provided was excellent, and the food was immaculate. What an incredible surprise to stumble upon this restaurant. My mother was delighted with her birthday dinner, and we will definitely be back next time we visit Kyoto.

Maybe the best meal I’ve ever had. Incredible, mouth watering steak. Huge line at the ramen place next door, don’t make that mistake. Come here instead!

Hands down the best wagyu experience I’ve had during my visit to Japan, and I’ve just had Kobe wagyu and Hida wagyu last week. The chateaubriand is absolutely a must-try, it’s rare but there’s not a hint taste of blood, tenderness of that piece of meat will blow your mind, covered with buttery egg yolk and vinegar source, it has sent me to heaven! During our brief two night stay in Kyoto, we visited this place twice. Thank universe for this beautiful encounter and lead us to this wonderful restaurant.

If you’re looking for an excellent Wagyu steak at an affordable price, go here! It’s a small, family-run restaurant with exceptional service and melt-in-your-mouth steaks. Affordable wine list too! One of the best meals I’ve had in Japan, and one of the best steaks I’ve EVER had!

If the food was 5 stars the service deserves 10. Our dinner here is a memory I will happily remember of my first time in Japan. Restaurant is very small, but since the moment you arrive you are welcomed by chef Iwai and the lovely waitress (not sure if they are a couple though). As their guest, they will look after you like if you were the most important person in the world. Food was great, good quality of the meat, each steak comes with a different homemade sauce on the side which are absolutely a blast. Atmosphere was very relaxing. Next time I will come to Japan and come to Kyōto I will definitely remember to pay this place a visit.

BEST STEAK DINNER YET!!! Our hotel breakfast cost 6k yen and this was only 8k, if youre looking for a nice dinner at a modest price this is it. We got two entrée a side of pork AND alchohol. Don't bother wasting your time in the long line at the ramen shop. Go here instead. The owner deserves more customers, he was polite and really made us feel welcomed. Would definitely come back again!

Very cozy, intimate atmosphere. The place is run by a couple where the husband cooks and wife provides service. They were both very friendly and welcoming and spoke a bit a of English! The food was amazing and pricing was reasonable. It's a short walk from Nijo Castle and highly recommend you check it out!

We went for dinner and ordered the best steak they have. The ambiance there unfortunately is far below average, and the service was not professional. Food tasted good but it isn’t worth the price at all. The place lacks well-thought balanced meal courses. Disappointing. We won’t go back.

Delicious!!! An awesome izakaya. I highly recommend stopping in for delicious drinks and food. Wagyu steak is so delicious. Many custom drinks and choices. Excellent music played while we dined and there was a great atmosphere. You can stop in for just drinks if you want. The owners are awesome.

We came across this place while waiting for fire ramen. I’m sure the fire ramen would have been great, but I am so happy we decided to eat here instead. The restaurant was very welcoming and has an English menu. The menu includes a variety of dishes and drinks all reasonably priced. The quality of our meal was top notch! We enjoyed everything about our visit here from the music to the very gracious owner who shook our hands on the way out. 12/10

The food and the service was excellent! He is also good in English and therefore perfect for international people. Also includes an English menu. He has really good wine for offering that he makes himself (I think)! I ate the burger steak and it was really good! A good recommendation. 🥰

If you go to the Nijo Castle this is the perfect option, is close and Soooooo Gooddddd! Cant recommend it enough! The chef/owner even thought us how to make his out of this world sauce! Plus he has top Wiskeys to indulge yourself with. Thank you so Much!!!!

Great wagyu, esp the momo steak. Clean modern set up. Iwai does a great job of making you feel at home!

Hardest working chef, server, and all in one restaurant, incredible diligent and thoughtful with his work. Each dish was as carefully and professionally plated in a pleasing and appealing manner. Which almost seemed repetitive as the attention to detail didn’t dwindle in the taste as it was the best meal that my friends and I had while in Japan, I recommend the Mitsuji wagyu steak and the don Kobe steak and rice. The owner clearly loves what he does and it shows on the meal and service provided. I extremely recommend skipping the fire ramen next door for a delicious and thoughtful dining experience next door. We had a rly great evening there. Drank and ate a lot. Food was good and their lemon sour is the best I've drank. It is not a classical yakiniku place though. Rather a steakhouse in a way, which the name also implies.

This place is perfect 👌. We planned on going to the ramen place next door and decided not to when it was super busy and we saw here with no-one in at 6 on a Friday Night and to say it was the best steak I have ever tasted is an under statement and the friendly service was amazing Definitely a must for people to come past and try it out I definitely will next time i travel to Japan

We were just looking around for a yakuniku place and stumbled across this one, and oh boi we couldn’t have stumbled over a better place. The calm and professional atmosphere, the amazing staff and not to mention the godly tasting food. If u are ever in doubt on where to go for meat don’t bother just go here without hesitation.

👍👍 I went there for the children section and it was very nice. They have a good soft playground for babies/toddlers and my son had a nice time there. In the parents room you can give food, clean and take care of your child, but also weith and measure him. This so convenient.
