Amazing stay in one of the most advanced hotels I have ever stayed in. Not only do they fit 3 comfortable beds in one room but it comes with all the comforts of a robotic toilet, kitchenette, and washer/dryer. The doors come with a camera to buzz up guests. The service is also great. Ben speaks tremendous English (being that he is from california!) and he is full of great local suggestions having lived there 13 years. I will definitely come back to Ben's guest house!

Ben's Guesthouse is well situated in Kyoto in-between some of the biggest tourist spots in the city (Kinkaku-ji and Nijo Castle). With super markets, resturants, and convenience stores close by -- you're steps away from anything you might need during your stay. If you ever wanted to experience what living in Japan might feel like, this is a great spot to do it. The rooms clean and well thought out plus a GREAT value for families with kids or multiple people in their party. All the amenities you would expect from a large hotel chain are present, but its the extra things like a washing machine that really sets it apart.

It's just incredible CP value that we spent around 25US$ per night with two double king bed, small kitchen, desk, TV and even bathtub!! Super comfy room and nice staff. The location its in uptown area, close to bus station, although it's quite at night, but Kyoto downtown also close around 8pm...so there's not much to explore at night anyway. Overall this guesthouse is really one of my best travel experience!!

It is a very clean and comfortable house and have convenient transportation lines. The house has a full range of cleaning equipment and simple cooking tools. If you only have simple luggage, it is very suitable to choose here.

Best stay we had in Japan. Very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. Kitchen, wasmachine and drying room. It felt like home away from home! Very nice owner. And it was very very clean! Thank you for the stay!

Words cannot describe how thankful we were to stay here after a horrendous stay in Nagoya the night before. Ben's guesthouse is clean, staff is great, check in/out were super easy and they were so accommodating...so much that we canceled our time in Osaka to stay there one more night! There are so many small thoughtful things that made our stay very comfortable, from fabric spray in our room to hot chocolate in the lobby. There are maps and guides galore in the reception and great local recommendations. If you go to Kyoto, you must stay here!

Ben's Guesthouse is an amazing place with all the little things thought out. It was clean and neat, with plenty space. There was lots of info at the reception desk, including maps and guides, and there were even bicycles to rent (at a good price too). There were condiments and spices to share and plenty of spare umbrellas. The convertible shower/drying room was also really useful! They even let us check in hours early so we could shed our bulky luggage. 11/10 definitely would recommend. And will probably stay here on my next visit too!

We family of 3 stayed there for a night. Location was good with supermarket and 100Yen store nearby. If you drive, coin parking is cheap with few minutes walk away. Room are large and spacious with free wifi pocket available for you to borrow during your stay. A full kitchen is also available in you pickup a nice steak from the super-market, you have somewhere to cook it and eat it! This is a place to stay if you like to live like a local but with a nice Host to help you to navigate the city. The staff is ultra helpful and nice , thanks!

Very clean and well appointed apartments. Fully self contained including a washing machine which was handy. The location is good, close to many bus lines and local attractions. All the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make it a pleasant stay.

Very nice guesthouse, equipped with all eminities like washing machine, microwave, electric kettle, TV, Fridge, small kitchenet with plates, bowls, spoons fork, cups, mugs, , knife, cutting board, spatula, pot and pan. Bed was comfortable. Had hangers to hang clothes after wash. Very good for the people who dont have car. Car owners should look for parking as parking is not there.

The place is great for group. I travelled with my 3 daughters and mother inlaw. The space is small but well organize and clean. The bed is comfy and I love that they clean and take out trash everyday like a 3 or 5 star hotel. Their place is an apartment type hotel. The only downside is no elevator, but they made upnfor it by carrying our luggages to our room. Host is very reaponsive💙 Thank you! God Bless!

Whatever is stated in previous reviews are true. This place really deserves 5 ✨️. From the time we booked the room, the host has been very hospitable. I travelled with my elderly in laws. So, I booked a family room. I didn't realise during booking that the place doesn't have an elevator. They have 2 family rooms, one on the ground floor, the other on the 1st floor. I made a request to place us on the ground floor. Although they couldn't promise to give us the ground floor room right away, they still accommodate us. The location is also very strategic with public transport nearby, public parking for those who travel around by rental car like us & a number of convenient stores nearby.... As for the room, it is definitely very cosy and clean.... there were 2 double beds & 1 futon... I like the toilet very much... auto bidet with warm seat.... I love the bathtub too.... I'm 5' 2", I fit into it so nicely 😍😍😍. I've always wanted to try the authentic Japanese onsen, but as a Muslim, naked public bathing is definitely a no no... So, I made my own onsen at the end of the day & it was heavenly 😍😍😍 The kitchen is also very clean... It's equipped with simple utilities, but it's good enough for us to use... Overall rating, 5 ✨️. I will not hesitate to stay again @ Ben's if I have another chance to go to Kyoto...

I cannot recommend Ben’s Guesthouse enough! Ben was kind, helpful, and demonstrates the kind of customer service you dream about when staying somewhere new! Our room was clean and had so many unexpected accommodations! We were able to do laundry on site and there were small tables set up in common areas that Ben had stocked with things you may need or that may make your stay more pleasant- everything from feminine hygiene products to hot cocoa. There are maps and neighborhood recommendations - Ben even had vegan restaurant recommendations listed out! The magic is in the details and he has thought of everything!! It was truly a wonderful experience to stay at Ben’s - a convenient location and incredible service. If you visit Kyoto, you’d miss out if you stay anywhere but here!

I travel a lot and Ben's Guesthouse is quite possibly one of the best places I've ever stayed at. We booked a room for three people and all of us have such positive things to say that I'll break it down by category. Communication and Check-in Ben is easily reachable via LINE and was so helpful and friendly both before and during our stay. He was quick to respond to any questions we had, and even sent us a list of recommended restaurants and convenience stores in the neighborhood. There was a receptionist there to greet us at check-in who gave us a mini tour of our room and showed us where to find and how to use all the amenities. The establishment itself is stocked with maps and guide books so it's always easy to find something in the area to see or do. Location The guesthouse is situated in a cozy neighborhood along a shopping street, which meant that it was fairly easy to get to and there were many interesting shops and restaurants within walking distance. Kitano Tenmangu shrine is right around the corner as well. There's an overhead sign for the location, which makes it easy to find. Lodgings Despite three people sharing a room, we felt like there was plenty of space. The beds are comfortable and the room was clean and organized. The room we booked had a kitchen/foyer area separated from the bedroom with a sliding door, so people were able to have privacy when needed. Also, the bathroom is spacious! Especially by Japanese standards. Amenities The in-unit laundry machine was a lifesaver for us and we really appreciated the receptionist giving us a walkthrough on how to use it. The kitchen is well stocked, though we didn't end up using it because all the restaurants around were so appealing. The remote controls came with instructions/translations for all the buttons, which is incredibly thoughtful. The bathroom is well stocked. Hospitality This is where Ben's Guesthouse really shines. There is so much love and care put into making sure guests have a good time. Everything from the helpful communication to the charming handmade map of the neighborhood in the hall to the booklet in the room with instructions on how to use everything. Also there were communal board games in the hall, and complementary sparkling wine in our fridge. We had researched the area pretty thoroughly before our trip, but Ben was able to give us recommendations not yet on our list, and we loved every one of his recommendations that we tried. In short, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to book this place again for a longer duration some time in the future!

Superb stay at Bens Guesthouse. It was so cosy, convenient and clean. We slept like babies, beds and duvet covers were super comfy. Location is also pretty convenient getting everywhere in Kyoto. Great value for money. We loved the fact we could do our washing and dry it in the bathroom dryer! Super convenient. I would book this place again if I had a chance.
