Good opportunity to stay in a traditional Japanese house with the paper room dividers; the rooms had excellent air conditioners and the host even gave us a lift to the train station which otherwise would have meant a cumbersome walk with all our bags to the station. Very considerate!

Beautiful and quiet location. Extremely friendly and helpful host. Walking distance to temple area. Beautiful view of mountains and river area from the guesthouse. Clean and nice guesthouse with everything we needed. Walking distance to a small supermarket with a good selection and open 24 hours a day. Be aware that many restaurants here close early in the evening or are not open at all in the evening. We are a family of six. We stayed two nights at Stay Nikko Guesthouse. We agree that we could easily spend several days here. We can also recommend the place for hiking.

Stayed here recently, and it’s a great base for Nikko a short distance to the train/bus stations and a reasonable short walk to the World Heritage sites. Accommodation was self contained, clean and tidy - and a wonderful and helpful host. The loft villa does involve a climb up a ladder to the bedding for those who may be challenged in doing so

What a lovely place to stay while visiting Nikko. Ken gave us a warm welcome and lots of helpful information. The loft was beautiful and comfortable and had everything we needed. The location makes it really convenient to the train station and Tobu bus line. Loved it 😊

The mini loft villa was amazing. Perfect for a cozy and comfortable stay. Every amenities inside the accommodation was neat and cute. The outdoor sit-out area was surrounded by pretty japanese garden. This villa is located near an end corner of this property. We stayed for 2 nights and Kenji was really nice and helped us to plan the trip around Nikko perfectly.

Very convenient location, near the main street and train station, but far enough that it's very quiet. Rooms are very spacious and clean, and the house itself is spotless! They have a cute common area you can spend time in, and since there aren't many rooms it's not crowded. Kenji is an amazing host. They helped us plan our itineraries and called places to check availability. He even insisted on driving us to the train station on our last day! Thanks for a great stay in Nikko!

An incredibly friendly host and comfortable place to stay. The house is very new, clean, and bright. Shower was a little small, but the water pressure is great. Nice to have a table to sit at for meals or hangouts. Kitchen is small but functional. The upstairs couch and chair facing the window was another great space. The beds are different; some are futon style and the larger lower “bunk” was a mattress. Our group of four felt comfortable, just be careful since there is only one toilet. The location is great, about a 15 minute walk from the Shinkyo Bridge. Also not far from the stations, FamilyMart, restaurants, a coin laundry, etc. The host provides a lot of information on local restaurants, public transportation, etc. It was convenient to have a spot to park our car as well. Fun to look through the notebooks with messages and drawings from past guests. My very talented friend left a great drawing of us as well! Would not hesitate to stay here again the next time I visit Nikko.

Everything about this guesthouse is awesome! The owner is so kind and helpful. There’s information all around the guesthouse to help you around the area and helpful tips about Japanese culture. Very clean. Great location. Looking forward to visit again.

Highly recommended! Ken, the owner, is super nice, welcoming and helpful. The house we stayed in was perfect for three, although 4 would be OK. The quality of materials and finishings are excellent and it was spotlessly clean, you immediately feel at home. There was no cooker (stove top) but the small toaster oven and microwave along with the refrigerator were fine for us. The location is unbeatable in our opinion, off the main street but not more than 10 mins walk from most areas. Ken might just be your best Nikko tourist guide without you expecting it, he took the time to go through the main things we should see on the map and gave us recommendations of where to eat.

Location was great. Room was really cute. It was basically a small cabin with a loft and a tiny kitchen, and had everything we needed. The host/owner was very friendly helpful. He spoke fluent English and gave us a map with notes regarding the sights and restaurants (including the restaurant type and cost).

It was one of the best Airbnb I’ve stayed and I stayed in many. The owner is a cheerful and helpful man and just talking to him cured my depression. He gave many recommendations for attractions and food too. Very nice and comfortable for 5.

Our time at Stay Nicco Guesthouse was very nice. The location at the river about 5-10min from the main street and the next bus stop was very convenient and quiet. The cabin was sooo kawaii with a lot of attention to detail as well as well equipped and clean. Our host took the time to explain the surroundings and attractions of the area along with giving us tips on where to spend our limited time. His wife even drove us to the train station. We regret not staying longer and would like to return :)

I would honestly give this place more then 5 stars, if it were possible. They are so polite, and respectful. They gave very good recommendations of stuff to do around the area. I wouldn't stay anywhere else, if you are coming to Nikko.

If i could give them 10 stars I would be giving them. The hosts are extremely friendly, helpful and thoughtful. Some examples: 1) give us all the tips and it saves our time/money. 2) when we want to re-fill our water using their filter and the hosts are out on errands, they bought us a bottle and gifts as they felt bad for not being able to help. 3) Drove us to the station to buy tickets as they are going to a nearby store. 4) when we ask where the pharmacy store is, as we are aching all over after a long day hike. The host immediately provides us their own medication patches without hesitation. 5) lastly, we mixed up the wrong dates and one of the nights we are going to be "homeless" and their guesthouse are fully booked. The host immediately went and searched for the most valuable and convenient hotel for us and offered to drive us over with our huge luggages. Even tell us to enjoy the day and not to worry about it. The environment or house is very clean, practical and comfortable. Anything you have doubt, the host will answer them. They spoke English too, in case others were worried if you could communicate. You will have no regrets staying with them in Nikko. I would like to say a huge thanks to them :). We will be back :)

A real five star recommendation! Kenji is a great host and was very helpful to navigating the area. Rooms are comfortable, everything is very nice - nice kitchens, spotless bathroom, modern air con, comfy beds with extra futons and blankets. We appreciated being away from the main street as the motorcycles are very loud down there. The riverside is peaceful and walkable. I recommend it very much.

Amazing stay; comfortable accomodation with a pleasant atmosphere. The guesthouse is in a walking distance to everything neccesary, yet it remains in its own tranquil setting. The host is the best person anyone could wish for; incredibly friendly and helpful.

Best guesthouse in town. Beautiful, quiet house with nice garden. Beautiful view on river and mountains. The rooms are big, well equipped and very clean. The hosts are adorable and thoughtful. They speak English very well, provided us with great information about what to see and which bustickets to buy. They also provide an incredible japanese breakfast.

We had a great stay here! Very close to the main bus line so transportation was easy. Kenji was very accommodating and gave us fresh towels in the morning.

The host is so kind and warm. The guesthouse is located beside the river, though it take 10-15 walk from train station. We enjoy amazing scenery every morning when walking along the river. Room is very spacious and cozy. Public space is very clean. We enjoy the stay here a lot!! Would definitely stay here again next time. Highly recommended to travelers who are searching for a nice place to stay at Nikko.

This was probably the nicest place we have stayed at in our 3 week travel of japan. Both hosts were very welcoming as well as spoke great English which enabled them to be super informative about the house and the surrounding area. (Literally can’t get over how nice the hosts were) The rooms and shared ares were very clean. The beds futon beds were super comfy. Great location as it’s within a short bus journey to the main tourist attractions. 10/10 would recommend anyone staying here ☺️
