Enjoying a mountain trekking throughout the Oze marshland under clear blue sky. There are a bunch of beautiful grasses at The height of the fall foliage. Oze is the largest marshland in Japan. It is surrounded by three prefectures: Fukushima, Tochigi, and Gunma.

We walked 40km for the 2.5 days stayed in the national park. Beautiful and well-preserved nature. Impressed by the fact that everyone really carried back their each single pieces of garbages. You cannot use shampoo, tooth paste nor soap in the park in order to help to preserve water quality, which was the only pain point for the 3 days trip.

It’s a beautiful place but they charge us too much just for parking, round trip bus ride between Oze and the bus stop. 2 ppl with a car for a day trip = 5000 yen. Will probably stay in one of those mountain hunts next time I’m here. Overall, Oze was an incredibly beautiful spot where you can really enjoy the feeling of the nature and feel zen.

It is really nice place for hiking! I went there at August but it wasn’t too hot. You can take a lot of good pictures here and enjoy the nature. You can also select stay log cabins in the park. We were not able to do it because they were all full booking. If you are interested and have enough time, highly recommended!

Amazing place, the trees, the water, the fresh air, the lovely animals, and the amazing stars. I went there after a rainy day, the whole national park is like being refreshed. But we failed to get to the top of the highest mountain because the road is way too muddy.

Oze national park is as beautiful as the pictures you find online. But remember, it is a very large national park and it is difficult to cover the whole park. Also you are not allowed to use your personal transport after oze tokura station. We talked with one of the local drivers and asked him to wait for us until we returned. We exchanged phone numbers and contacted him. He waited for us until 5:30 (the last listed bus is 4:40).

Long walking trek through marshland. Scenery is nice in summer but gets boring after a while. Not very tiring.

I recommend This park as one of the most beautiful walking and trekking place close to Tokyo. The nature conservation is perfectly managed and the infrastructures, chalets, toilets, visitors centers is the best I have seen. 65 km of walking paths 2 ways, each 50 cm wide. The pristine nature, forests, swamps and rivers are managed with as few human interactions as possible, and it looks as a perfect wild forest ( I am forester and really appreciate). We started at Numayama Toge, 6:00, coming from Tokyo by night train (Aizukogen Ozeguchi) then bus to Numayama Toge (don’t go out at the car parking!). We walked to Ozenuma visitors center (closed) and bought food/drinks, walked (not easy , not for beginner, good shoes and equipment needed) to hotel chalet at Yashirogoya, good sleeping, very good food, hot bath (public, males and then females), perfect after good walk. Then from Yashirogoya to Ryugugoya, Yoppi bridge, Oze Yamanohana visitors center (open), lunch, Hatomachi (some climbing), bus, Tokura no yu Oze Nature center (nice), Oze Tokura bus to SHinjuku. 2 nights 2 days. No for trekking beginners (I am old and did it right with few leg pain). This is the most beautiful place I have seen in natural forest in Japan.

Parking space is limited, so taking the bus is recommended and the last bus leaving the OZE is around 16:30. If you do drive, please be sure to get there early and it costs about 2,500 yen per car for parking.

Beautiful trees and marshlands in this well preserved forest. It’s a fairly easy hike in on pretty well built out paths. (Main trail)

I will cherish the experience forever. It was both fun and challenging. I really hope I can experience this place again.

‘Twas a great experience to trek Ozegahara on the first day and hike Mt. Shibutsu on the second day. Both my 2nd time trekking and hiking.⛰️🎌🗾🥰
