(Translated by Google) A facility that is indispensable for inheriting the video film culture. I think it used to be called the Film Center. Although it has a history of being hit by a fire, it is the only facility in Japan where you can see valuable images that you rarely see. I want to go out after checking the event on HP. For locals it’s probably like a library of films, for me, I came because it’s literally sits next to my hotel(integrate hotel) and they have an Akira Kurosawa exhibition. The exhibition is on the 7th floor. Adult ticket price is 250 yen per person. The first half of the exhibition is always the same regardless when are you going there. It’s about movie history in Japan. Everything is explained in Japanese, Chinese and English. You can learn quite a bit about the movie history. Second half of the exhibition always changes, this few months its Akira Kurosawa exhibition. Unfortunately it’s in Japanese only. And a lot of restrictions on taking photos. I enjoyed the exhibition overall, but I hope they can have translations for all exhibits. Depending on how fast you read, the exhibition will take you about 30-40 mins to go through. For 250 yen I would say this is pretty much a must go if you are interested in local films.

Great exhibit on the upper floor. Small, but filled with interesting pieces albeit most of them are movie posters. If you're a fan of cinema, the low ticket price make this a great stop. Theres also showings of films, but we didn't stick around for those.

New museum. Small but very interesting museum with a very cheap entrance fee. The historical section also has short videos. There was an exhibit on the posters of Kurosawa when we visited.

Any fan of Japanese cinema ought to visit here. It's exapnsive but not deep. For example as an Ozu fan I should.make my way to the dedicated Ozu musuem instead. But for a nice overview of Japanese film through a historical lens this is a good place to check out. There is lots of memorabilia including antique cameras, promo material and even old reels projected for guests to view. That being said the special exhibition I went to (horror ) was a bit of a let down. No photos were allowed on this area, but it was mostly just regular posters with Japanese titles rather than alternative movie posters. Poster art is fascinating, even more so when you plunge into the depths of international/alternative poster art, but sadly there wasn't much of that on display. The Jaws poster is iconic sure, but if you imagine Japanese font in place for the English, that's the exact poster they had on display. They were all preserved well. But for the extra charge and camera restrictions I had expected more.

Please note that you cannot bring in beverages or foods that cannot be covered. The distance from the front seat is not as tight as the recent multiplex, but it is not cramped. We saw a film here for the EU Film Days festival. The 2nd floor theatre was immaculately clean and very well appointed. Crisp picture on the large screen, comfortable seats, and exceptional sound. The film we saw had both English and Japanese subtitles; English on the bottom and Japanese vertically on the right, leaving the picture itself sufficiently unobstructed. I wish we had looked around more but we did see some beautiful and compelling old movie posters from the Showa era.

Some cool stuff to check out at an affordable price. Lots of great history on display for film buffs and lovers of Japanese cinema. I do wish that it was more extensive and that there was more to see in terms of props, costumes and film materials, but at this price there is little to complain about.

Delightful and exceptionally interesting permanent exhibit. Seeing the manuscript screenplays of ozu's Tokyo Story and Kurosawa's Rashomon a highlight of any film lover's trip to Japan. Simply wonderful! Google maps takes u to the wrong address btw. The shuttered loading dock at back of building is NOT the entrance....i almost gave up finding the place. Visitor be warned!

However, in September, due to the connection that the Pia Film Festival is being held, there are no more local admission tickets for sale. (Translated by Google) Second visit. In the first place, the area around Kyobashi Station is an office district, so it is quiet on Sundays, but there weren't many people in this facility so that the exhibition room on the 7th floor was almost reserved (though it depends on the content of the project). The receptionist and the guards seemed to be sorry. It's a small space, but it's nice to be able to see it slowly without worrying about people. I feel that it is a waste because all the facilities are luxurious and the number of customers is not good enough. I haven't seen the movie being shown at the right time, but it seems to be vacant, so I'd like to watch it once. By the way, I also recommend the police museum in the neighborhood. If you come to the museum on Sunday, the restaurants around here are closed on Sundays, so it's a good idea to find out where you can have lunch in advance.
