We decided to stop at Toya during our trip from Sapporo to Hakodate. Toya is around 2 hours from Sapporo. From Toya Station, we took the bus to Lake Toya, you can purchased the return bus ticket inside the train station. We got off at the Lake Toya Tourism Centre, and the lake is just in front of the building. The scenery is beautiful and serene. Great food and views and fabulous onsen everywhere a nice place to visit when you are in Hokkaido.

Such a beautiful, mesmerizing, and a dreamy huge lake in Hokkaido! Interestingly, Lake Toya was formed approximately 110,000 years ago during a volcanic eruption. The lake and its surroundings were so peaceful and tranquil. It is a perfect place for anyone who is looking for a relaxing and quiet vacation. There are also hotels and resorts around the lake with balcony views facing this picturesque lake. Highly recommended to spend a night or two around Lake Toya to enjoy the beautiful nature of this place.

Toya Lake is the place that you can enjoy many onsen or hotel which located next of the Lake. So, if you stay there even for one night you will see amazing scenery in nearby. You also can go to a little island located in the middle of Lake by Cruise 🚢 there. If you plan to enjoy this place in Summer, I highly recommend trying all of summer activities like Kayak, Canoe 🛶 etc. Then for complete your holiday don’t forget to ride a cruise 🚢 when the dark comes up. There is fireworks 💥 event that held every day in summer time until October around 8:45 PM for 20 minutes. The fireworks 💥 doesn’t comes out from the land but from boat 🚣‍♀️ in the middle of Lake. Then the boat will be moved every some minutes to another places Or go to front another hotel. Make sure to ride the cruise if you want to enjoy as long as fire up.

Jewel of Hokkaido. Clear water of this dream-like lake mirrors high volcanos, deep forests, and red wooden temples.

Unluckily, we stayed here on bad weather, it was very cloudy, so we couldnt see the mountains. The lake was quite and good for walking. At night we could enjoy fireworks from our hotel room

What an incredible place in Hokkaido. Went to Lake Toya for a 4-day trip and I can say that this place is one of the most amazing places I've ever been to. Far away from really anything, the town surrounding Lake Toya is quiet while the nature surrounding it is simply breath-taking. The lake itself is super clear and clean. Can't recommend this place enough.

Pit stop along the way to sapporo during winter in feb. The lake is so vast and amazing with a small island in the center. This lake doesnt freeze over during winter. There is a rope way to the top and a free visitor center of sorts to view the history of this area. In the town there is also a bear zoo to view the bears. Overall a good stop over for photos and a lunch break.

There are many inns where you can see Lake Toya from the open-air bath, so it is recommended to stay at one of these. Long-run fireworks displays are held every day from May to Oct in the Toyako Onsen Hot Spring town area. Lake Toya where Popular resort area centered on a caldera lake with islands, boat tours & hot-spring baths. Stay at Zekkei No Yuyado Toya Kohantei to get spectacular view of Toya Lake. Enjoy during the Spring 6 May where the 42th Long Run Fireworks Festival, a large flowered fireworks come out in the sky of Lake Toya for 20 minutes from 20.45 to 21.05

Very pleasant stay. Room amenities adequate. Superb location. One negative comment is there is no bar where one can enjoy the most beautiful scenery over a drink.
