Tourists looking for something to see besides Sanrio Puroland should come here. I'd really like to spend some money, but admission is free here. There is a paper questionnaire near the reception desk, and if you fill it out and hand it over to the reception desk, you will receive a clear file with a cool Jomon pattern. I'd like to spend some money on it, but of course it's free too. There are also free book covers hidden among the flyers placed around. The deformed Jomon pottery is so cute. There are many exhibits such as ruins from the Jomon period, pottery, and tableware excavated from the Tama Hills around here, as well as an experience corner. The Jomon period existed in Japan for approximately 10,000 years from 13,000 BC. They did not practice farming (although they did cultivate wild fruits and other fruits while coexisting with nature), and practiced hunting and gathering while coexisting with nature, as well as trading by exchanging goods in dugout canoes within Japan. They were able to survive for a long time, 10,000 years. Therefore, there are a huge amount of excavated items, and you can get a glimpse of them in large quantities. Although it was a time when there was no written language, you can feel the sense of art in the accessories and household goods. The garden includes a house that is a reproduction of the Jomon period. Depending on the day, you can experience a bonfire at the house. The staff are kind and the gardens are well maintained. However, eating and drinking is prohibited inside the facility. Please note that it is like a small museum, so there is no place to sit or relax, or a cafe. Please respect the manners and enjoy the various places. Even though so many people from all over the world come to Sanrio Puroland, this is the only other spot nearby that I can recommend, but it's the only one that I highly recommend, so I highly recommend you come. Since Tama City has so many tourists coming to Puroland, it would be better to create something more enjoyable.

This will be my first visit. Admission is free. Mainly exhibits were excavated items from the Tama New Town Ruins District. There are many experience spaces, so I think you can enjoy it even with children. There is a Jomon village garden next door, so we also took a tour of it.

This small museum is a free exhibit right next to Sanrio Puroland. It's good, quick tourist spot for families or people who are interested in the ancient history of the Japanese or the Tokyo area. The Joumon era is defined by the sedentary hunter gather people who lived during that time and this museum has different artifacts on display and a couple interactive features as well. They also have a collection of ancient things, I think for research pieces and outside they have some life-size models of the typical Joumon living structure. All of their information is available in Japanese and English so definitely check it out!
