Love the ferry ride and the island bus that traveled in a loop, arriving at this observatory place. Quite a panaromic view from the upper deck of this Yunohira Tenbosho viewpoint, watching the volcano and horizon. Very fortunately that we had a clear weather during that time as the awesome volcano at Sakurajima was clearly seen.

Definitely the best point of view IF you don't have a car / a bicycle and do not have excessive time to spend and explore the rest of the "island". Fantastic view by good weather. This view place is the main bus stop on the touristic loop (you can miss it because the bus makes a compulsory 30 min stop there). The full tour from the ferry terminal takes over an hour.

You can get here by the tour bus, which stops and waits for 20 minutes. Meanwhile people who were in the observation point are also boarding so it can get a bit crowded. The day was clear and the view was very good, but not so exciting for the most active volcano in Japan. The observation point is very far and you cannot see the crater, like in mount Aso.

One of the highlights for Sakurajima that is definitely worth the trip. You need to take the sightseeing bus after alighting at the port to get here if you are taking public transport. The close up view of the observation deck is spectacular. You could also get a panoramic view of Kagoshima Bay

Great views, plus you can ride the sightseeing bus here! Short ride too. Only takes 15 or 20 mins to look around once your here really. It's quick. The giftshop is nice too! Bathrooms are here but I didn't use them... they looked dirty and cold.

Closest Observatory to mt. Sakurajima. 373 meters above the sea level. Great views of both the volcano and the Peninsula.

Great view of the volcano on a nice clear day. Limited parking and accessible by bus.

One of the best view of the volcano. Have to climb long stairs to reach, if you're the driver. Just cup noodles in the store, please prepare your own lunch. There are volcanic ash and stones selling in the store, cute but $4 for ash...?

Nice view on the Sakurajima, there are toilets and some food and souvenirs too. Place to sit and warm yourself up too, in case you are traveling there in winter.

The view is amazing on a sunny day. The facility itself is a little old, but very functional and we are here for the 360 degrees view.

Closest observation point open to public, to observe the south-west side of the Sakurajima, 3 km from the north crater. Convenient 360° deck showing a superb view of the bay & Kagoshima city. You will love sunsets shot from that vantage point. 7 km from the ferries to Kagoshima. Shuttle buses or cabies will spare you an exhausting upsloping walk.... 😉

Closer observation point at the top of the hill. Nice 360° view of the city and the volcano mountain. Usually, take 10 mins complete all view but during the sunny day, you may spend more times there!

Supposed to be best spot to see Sakurajima volcano. Don't put your expectation too high. If you are lucky, you get to see the crowd. That is about it,!! Still beautiful view no to mention ..

Simple to catch bus to the observatory, but not actually a lot there when you arrive 10 minutes will do it. Obviously weather plays a part, so if you have bac few days in the area, plan ahead.
