Cannot stress how comfortable it is to live here. The staff was extremely kind and the rooms are very clean and gives you a traditional feel. Listed below are some features they have: - Included hand warmers, onsen baskets, extra towels for onsens, Kimono + matching thick wool jackets for cold weather - Generous amenities including a hot water dispenser and different types of tea to brew. Private bathroom. Although the rooms are very close and does not seem to be sound proof, we had a very quiet night. - Private in house onsen which you can book for 45 mins at a fee of about ~3000yen for you and your group, limited slots during the day time - Upon checking in, the staff will guide you through the best spots to visit and eat around Gero. We received an annotated map and some coupons for restaurants and onsens in the area. - Although it is about a 10 minute walk from the station up a slightly inclined hill, the inn is very close to a lot of destinations around the town. - On the day of checking out, it is advised that we needed to check out by 10am as they were closed the day after, however we were allowed to have our luggage stored in our room past this time so we could cruise the town one last time. The owner was very nice about this. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I enjoyed it all. I am a big fan of living in traditional homey inns and this place really hits the spot. Highly recommend.

Suzuki san was very friendly and accommodating. He showed and recommended food locations and onsen places around the Gero town. It's a very beautiful and newly built building, only 1 year old. Very pretty room and the ryokan is very clean and generous with their amenities, they even provide free geta tabi socks, hand warmers. Loved our stay!! Very comfortable. We were able to put on beautiful kimono and walked around

My stay at Toraya Ryokan was wonderful! The rooms are very clean and comfortable, including the futon which were very nice! Great location close to various onsens as well as the Gero Gassho Village! The staff were so kind and friendly and we had many good conversations with them. They are very familiar with the area and will sit down with you and a map to show you around the area and give recommendations, which was very helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

A slight hiccup as we couldn't find location on rental car's GPS, otherwise, perfect! 😀 Cosy environment, friendly staff, no complaint.

The hotel is clean and comfortable in a good location. The staffs are very nice and helping. My eye was hurt on the day arrived the hotel. They spent like 20 min to call all clinics around the area. I really appreciate of their help!

Everything about this stay was perfect The rooms are new and very clean. The service and kindness of the staff was as good as the best what we’ve experienced in the best hotels in the world. When we asked if they had any extra boxes lying around that we could use to ship souvenirs back to Tokyo, Suzuki was kind enough to not only find us a box but also post the package for us. Wonderful place with wonderful staff. Highly recommend.

The hotel is well located. The room was very beautiful and well equipped. The staff were really friendly, able to speak English and Chinese. In addition, they gave us the immense pleasure of offering us a representation of a maiko. Thank you very much for this experience.
