She really wanted a try so we booked up Studio Tyura when visiting Naha last month. Staff was really friendly and attentive even though my mum was very picky on which colour and style she would like. They offer different packages, you can either dress up and have a photoshoot within the studio; or pay a little extra to wear the kimono going through town for the day. Given this is Okinawa, you can actually hire the traditional Ryukyu (琉装) rather than kimono (和服). The package also included setting your hair in Japanese style with traditional accessories. They actually did the makeup for my mum to look more "authentic" lol, but I think that's optional. Overall they spent 45 mins (said 30 on the booking site) to set everything up, paying attention to every single detail. They used our own camera to do the photoshoot with props (like Japanese umbrella and fan, etc.). You get to pick your own style of kimono and they help you dress up and braid the hair as well which I really like it a lot! The host even provided us the taxi fee to go to the temple which we thought it was included in the package but turned out it wasn’t(⸝⸝⸝ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ ⌑ ᵒ̴̶̷̣̥̀⸝⸝⸝) We really appreciate for the brilliant service and will never forget about the host’s kindness. I highly recommend everyone to come here for the kimono experience and for sure will definitely come back here if we visit Okinawa again.
