Peaceful and historically significant location in Okinawa. When you're visiting this definitely somewhere you'll want to check out. The trails are very friendly and there are plenty of monuments and landmarks to look at. Safe for families as well, make sure when you're trying to get here you Google "Hacksaw Ridge Parking." If you simply search for this point or Desmond Doss point you will be led around the park versus into it.

Visited this place with my best friend and we saw many great views and history. Been wanting to see this place for a long time. It would be difficult to find if your not familiar with the area but with google maps and the correct name of the place you can find anyplace and go everywhere. One of the pictures has a tree trunk that looks like a hand.

This is a must stop if you enjoy learning WWII history. We were on a tour lead by an expat. I recommend finding an English speaking tour guide so you can get the whole picture of taking the ridge. It is crazy to see where Dawson lowers all the casualties.

Great historical attraction. Signs available in English and Japanese, also be sure to stay on the trail or some spicy noodle might get you in the underbrush.

Lovely place with great views. I visited the place just a few weeks after I saw the movie. It was a constant reminder for the need for peace and the futility of war.

It was an educational and humbling experience. There are post around the historical site explaning findings from WWII. Just have in mind it is not similar to the Hacksaw Ridge movie.

It is a ridge with no markers of what happened here. The pictures of the site are from the other google site. Nice view and graveyard. This is a ridge, but I don't think it is where the part known as Hacksaw Ridge. I visited the other google site and there a new marker there indicating the event there and it be know as Hacksaw ridge. I will be putting a suggestion to avoid this site.

RELEASED,2017. Hacksaw Ridge (original title: HACKSAW RIDGE) (directed by Mel Gibson) is based on a true story about Desmond Doss, a real-life medic who killed in the Battle of Okinawa. More than 70 years after the end of the Pacific War, the scene and scenery have changed, and people's memories have faded. It is very important for those of us who live in the present day to talk about the importance of peace, but it is difficult to resist the wave of urbanization, and it is difficult to find the aspect of those times. However, through this work, I was moved by my own desire for peace, remembering that miserable war once again, and when I visited Okinawa, more and more people visited or wanted to visit "Maeda Highlands", which is the climax of this "Hacksaw Ridge". Here, as a guide to experience the movie, we will introduce the local situation

Just something you need to experience in person to realize how awe-inspiring it is, and to see all the things from both sides of the history here. 100% Recommend a visit, rating 5 of 5, though the tunnel systems would be a nice addition if renovated but still deserves a 5 star!

A historic place with the legend of Desmond Doss saving a lot of people. The film with the same name was based on these incidents.

A few areas of interest here including Hacksaw ridge and Urasoe Castle. Some of the old tunnels are visible but not accessible. Most the Hacksaw Ridge is covered by vegetation but still pretty cool to visit this place. Its about and hour to walk around and see everything.

Great tour by on base tour guide. Amazing amount of knowledge he has. To hear about it, see the movie, see the area and hear the story of the battle was great.

The site is the location of the Urasoe Castle which is in ruins. The ridge is quite different from what was depicted in the movie, but it is still interesting to see.

For parking search “Hacksaw Ridge Parking Lot” on Google Maps. It’s a 5-minute walk up the hill from there. Look for the small white post with the sign on it.
