Seriously such a lovely place to visit in the fall. It is full of beautiful autumn leaves and feels very peaceful. I enjoyed walking around here and taking a lot of photos!

The temple is so beautiful and peaceful. I've learned how to ask for bless and other Japanese temple culture again. I still feel amazing although this was the second time to come here.

Maruyama Park in Sapporo is undoubtedly one of the top 5 must-visit attractions in the city, and I wholeheartedly rate it 5/5. One of its greatest advantages is its convenient location, just a short 5-10 minute walk from Maruyama Koen Station. This proximity makes it easily accessible for visitors, allowing them to quickly immerse themselves in the park's natural beauty. Upon entering the park, one cannot help but be enchanted by the majesty of the towering trees that surround the entire area. These impressive giants not only provide ample shade but also create a gentle, cooling breeze that sweeps through the park. Even during the summer months, when the temperatures can rise, the shade and the refreshing air make the park a comfortable and enjoyable place to explore. One of the most remarkable aspects of Maruyama Park is its tranquil atmosphere. Unlike the bustling Tokyo Jingu Shrine, this park offers a sense of serenity and calm. The relatively fewer crowds contribute to a more peaceful experience, allowing visitors to truly appreciate the natural surroundings and find moments of solitude amidst the greenery. Speaking of greenery, the park's abundant foliage is a true feast for the eyes. The vibrant hues of the trees, with their various shades of green, create a stunning backdrop that harmonizes beautifully with the colorful flowers scattered throughout the park. It's a visual delight to witness the vivid pop of colors against the lush green canvas, adding a touch of enchantment to the overall ambiance of the park. Beyond the aesthetics, Maruyama Park also provides several amenities and activities for visitors to enjoy. From open picnic areas and well-maintained paths for leisurely walks to charming cafes and souvenir shops, the park offers a range of options to enhance your experience. Whether you prefer to relax under the shade of a tree, explore the walking trails, or savor a cup of coffee while admiring the natural surroundings, there is something for everyone here. In conclusion, Maruyama Park is a true gem in Sapporo, offering a blend of natural beauty, tranquility, and vibrant colors. Its convenient location, cool and breezy atmosphere, and peaceful ambiance set it apart from other popular attractions. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, a visit to Maruyama Park is highly recommended. Prepare to be captivated by its charm and leave with lasting memories of a truly magical experience.

Beautiful Shinto shrine located next to Maruyama Park - a little on the outskirts of city center. Visited during early spring. The park that is adjacent has many early spring flowering trees to view. It’s a nice stroll through the shrine grounds and park.

After passing through a torii gate, you will find many giantic trees leading you to the Hokkaido shrine. I had visited the shrine on 31 December, it was not too crowed and quite peaceful, very impressive place.

This place is a must visit place when you're travelling around Sapporo, it's located just beside the maruyama park, you can also get some souvenir here although there's not much choice ,but you can still come here to pray for good health and good wealth .

Visited here in the winter of 2019. I remember it was a very long walk through the snow to the site, and it was very cold and still. I would have liked to have seen it in the Spring, but it was worth the walk. The surrounding park looked to be enjoyable as well.

This is the biggest shrine in Sapporo! Very beautiful and interesting, with a lot of locals and tourists visiting there!! It does feel refreshing going there! I received a goshuin manuscript from them, thank you! Even if I came in the weekend, it was not too crowded, I had a good time!

The Shrine is very beautiful. Coated with gold mixed with the wood. And I visited during winter with snow. It make the place more beautiful. You can buy Omamori for giving you good luck or good health and etc... depends on what you wish for. The park in front of the Shrine is huge and there is a Zoo next to it.

Hokkaido Jingu is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit in Sapporo. It is located in Maruyama Park and best to visit during Cherry Blossom season or when leaves turns red in autumn.

A beautiful shrine to visit during any season, Hokkaido Shrine is well worth a visit. The shrine is a short hike from the nearby Maruyama Koen subway station (Tozai) line and is free to enter.

The shrine is located in a park. The park is very comfortable, with a river and arranged pavilions and seats. There are not many people in the park on weekday mornings, so you can take a leisurely walk.

So calm and restful. Went on a weekday, it was a bit of a walk from the nearest train station(15mins), took my parent to a little longer with her walking stick but the paths were pretty flat outside of the steps of the gates.

It's a big big shrine and the water part is open 24 hours, with the dripping water from the bamboo shoots, rinse your left hand then right hand then use your left to rinse your mouth with the water then rinse your left again.

Feels different to other Shinto temple, very modern and spacious, not crowded. The surrounding trees are tall and magnificent, very beautiful. One hour free parking is provided if you drive your own car.

Place of calm and zen. Nice place to have a nice stroll. The rows of trees made it a nice spot for photos. Do your prayers and buy some amulets when u r there. There’s a big car park just outside the shrine. First hour is free, after which it is 500 yen per hour.

Very crowded Shinto Shrine during Golden Week. It looks like it's by far the most popular Shinto Shrine in Sapporo (or at least during the cherry blossom season).

It is such a nice park with a lot of tall trees. It would be really great for jogging and walking around the park. Also, you can have a picnic in the park.

Beautiful shine just in the park next door to the zoo. The place is an active shine with many monks around doing the ceremony behind the door.

The area of the Hokkaido Shrine is 180,000 m², and is adjacent to Maruyama Park. During the season which cherry blossoms in the area bloom, the shrine is crowded with people enjoying Hanami. Many people also visit the shrine during Japanese New Year. From June 14 to 16 in every year, the Main festival of Hokkaido Shrine, also called "Sapporo Festival" (Sapporo Matsuri), is held, and the line of people bearing Mikoshi parades down the street which leads to the shrine. It also manages a Scouting activities.

It’s a beautiful park. You can find a shrine there and a newly open cafe. They sell nice mochi and freshly baked mochi cracker upon order. Must try!

Really beautiful place when snowing. The view was gr8! Just remember it’s accessible just by walking though a garden. But for me I took a bus a few stops as it was snowing heavily and I wasn’t sure how to get there.

Recommended. Lots of people went to the shrine at that day. Seems there was a big ceremony going on. I found out later that’s the Coming of Age day. Nice surrounding park and beautiful shrine. We should put on the Japanese kimono and take some photos here.

The temple was good, but since it is a snow the rest of the temple looks really great and made a correct location for photography I believe. This is must visit location together with the Maruyama Park

Beautiful shrine in Sapporo with calm and sacred atmosphere. It's very beautiful in the snow. Not too far to walk from the metro station, it's in a beautiful park and there's a zoo nearby too. Worth visiting.
