(Translated by Google) A huge painting displayed at Mark City heading for JR Shibuya Station's Inokashira Line. Writer, art is a blast!

I happened to chance upon this art piece while in transit to another station. It was huge with vivid colors and so was quite impossible to miss. However, what attracted me more was the awesome view of the Shibuya scramble crossing from this vantage point! I think this place is worth coming just to see a full picture of the Shibuya Crossing in action.

A Taro Okamoto masterpiece ⭐️ Created simultaneously with his other great work, Tower of the Sun, this mural was originally commissioned for a hotel in Mexico. However, before the hotel or the mural could be completely finished, the hotel went bankrupt and ownership changed hands. From then on, the mural was removed from the hotel and moved around all over Mexico until it was deemed lost. Fortunately, it was rediscovered in 2003 and it was then extensively restored. After finishing the restoration, the mural arrived in Japan where it moved around in special exhibits from Shiodome to the MOT until finally settling down in Shibuya Mark City as it stands today. It’s nice that Tokyo and Osaka each have an Okamoto masterpiece.

Initially I came here because it is a location in Persona 5. I'm glad I did because the mural here is beautiful.

Japanese muralist paints 30 feet of sadness. An abstract expression of long suffering subsequent to nuclear violation. What people do to people when one side won't give up and the technology for mass destruction exists on the other. When 70,000 people die in an instant and the screaming never ends. Inconceivable, incomprehensible, insuperable loss and losses. Such pain. How else? I'd cry here but what does it help, who? These sidewalk silhouettes not washed away, not washed away.

It’s bigger than I thought. Oh and it’s in the hallway of the bridge between the two buildings.
