It would also be interesting to compare it with the 1200 Arhats at Atago Nenbutsuji Temple.

2023.10.29. Currently, there are about 2 weeks left until the autumn leaves season? I think the best time to see the autumn leaves is mid-November.

(Translated by Google) A strange group that suddenly appears on the way to Hogon-in 🧐 It is a statue of Rakan donated from all over the country to memorialize the victims of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake (January 17, 1995). Each has its own unique appearance, but the features make you feel somehow humorous. Is it at least a comfort 🙏 (Original)

Cluster of statues for all tastes! They have very incisive expressions, passing by by chance I stopped to observe them all. It seems strange to me that this point is not reported

From Togetsukyo Bridge to the west along the Katsura River Go 400m and go north 150m Opposite Hogon-in Temple A place with a mysterious atmosphere Yes. 70 Arhat statues It has a unique look Yoda and the crying old man similar. Lighted up at night It's an increasingly mysterious place.

After a little hike up the mountain you will find yourself in a lovely little park surrounded by many monkeys. They are truly beautiful to watch and the babies are adorable. I was a bit worried at first but there are many employees who guard the park and the monkeys so I felt very safe. Definitely recommend!

The unique individual faces of the statues are so fun to look at. Reminds me of the one I saw in Kawagoe. Memorable sight to see as you head towards Arashiyama Bamboo Grove or Tenriyu-ji.

(Translated by Google) There are many small Buddha statues lined up, and even the ones with a human touch have a unique look. (Original)

(Translated by Google) Arashiyama Arhat is usually on the road! It looks new compared to the Arhat of Sekihoji Temple! But it's worth seeing! No admission fee required!

Although it is just a stone statue, I was drawn to its lively and human expression and couldn't help but stop and stare at it. It's a little off the main street, so you can take your time to see it even on holidays. The 500 Arhats specifically refer to high-ranking monks who were direct disciples of Shakyamuni Buddha. It was set up as a memorial service for the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake (1995) at the request of the nearby Hogon-in Temple, and it appears that donations can still be made. In addition to the 500 Arhats in Arashiyama, the one at Atago Nenbutsuji Temple is also famous, and the 500 Arhats by Kazunobu Kano, which is specially exhibited in the spring and autumn at the main hall of Seiryoji Temple (Saga Shakado), also has a story. This is a highly recommended work that is full of sex and worth seeing.
