We enjoyed the morning class with sukiyaki Wagyu. I booked it through Expedia. This cooking class exceed our expectations. I highly recommend anyone visiting Tokyo to book one of the classes with Cooking Sun. The instructors spoke extremely good English and went beyond just teaching us how to cook. They taught us where the food comes from, the traditional ingredients, and showed us on the map where ingredients were located. The class was easy to follow along and they are helpful and kind. The food was also delicious! It was the perfect amount for lunch. Good advice is to eat breakfast before coming. You are cooking things the whole time but it isn’t until the end of the course where you actually eat. We didn’t eat before and by the time it was time to eat, we were pretty hungry. But it made the food even better! Thank you Cooking Sun for making our trip to Tokyo so much fun and memorable ☺️

An excellent class! I did a lot of research before choosing this sushi making class and I am so happy with my choice. Our teacher was kind, fun and informative. We were all very surprised with our outcomes. The food was delicious and price was right.

Thoroughly enjoyed our Kaiseki cooking class in Tokyo. The food we made was delicious! Our instructor, Reiko, was great at teaching us how to cook and also explaining some of the background behind the ingredients and dishes we made. I would highly recommend this class!

I had a great time and learned a lot! We got to make our own dashi (japanese stock), our own tamago (japanese omelete) and even grind our own wasabi! The teachers were very knowledgable and helpful and did an amazing job walking us through all the prep, the recipes, while adding a lot of culture and interesting ideas to it. At the end, we had a beautiful - and delicious - plate of sushi to enjoy! Totally recommended!

Thank you so much Hidemi-san, My children and myself had a very nice experience. You were patient and your explanations were very clear. We learned a lot about products and Japanese cultures in different main cities. And most of all, we enjoyed what we cooked.

I took the sushi-making class and really enjoyed it. The class actually takes place in an apartment, but the decor is set up very professionally. The class was conducted in English, and the teachers were very attentive. The only suggestion I have is to have more stoves so that you don’t have to share with a partner.

My wife and so had a wonderful experience learning to cook from these lovely ladies who all speak excellent English. It’s a 7 min walk from Yotsua station. They were so organised, instructional, informative , patient and caring. You don’t need exceptional cooking skills, they teach you each step of the way. A perfect balance of hands on experience and watching and learning about the history and health benefits the food we prepared and ate at the end of the class which is reflected in the recipes you get to take you. My wife said it was the perfect way to start her birthday in Japan. We loved sharing this experience with other travelers from around the world and sharing restaurants and experiences with each other which is invaluable. We both highly recommend this class if you’re a foodie and if you want to learn to make some beautiful easy yet delicious Japanese food.

What an amazing experience and one of our favorite activities while in Tokyo. Nobuko and Megumi were so kind, patient and made sushi approachable. My husband and I took the sushi-making class with our 10-year old and 13-year old and they loved it too. The three hours flew by and we had a blast! Recommend this to anyone!

Booked this class for myself and my parents. We were joined by 4 others and were given the opportunity between courses to get to know eachother which was really nice. All the chefs/teachers had great English, were very welcoming and extremely helpful. We did the Wagyu course consisting of; miso soup, kombu & umeboshi tsukudani, accordion cucumber salad, gomamiso-ae potatoes, dashimaki tamago, yuzu flavoured yokan, and finally grilled stuffed lotus roots (with chicken). We were shown how to cook wagu sukiyaki in a traditional pot you'd find in a Ryokan. All the food was delicious & the recipes weren't too complicated. You could also add sake to your meal for 800¥. Definitely recommend if you are looking for an easy, fun, casual class.

We had a great time at the wagyu/kaiseki class. Everything we made was delicious and surprisingly simple. Lots of covid measures in place so we felt very comfortable. Highly recommend!

This was an amazing experience! Not only was the food delicious and great fun to make, but the instructors were extremely friendly and a joy to talk to. Thank you Hidemi and Hiromi! Their English was without fault, and they were more than happy to help me practice some of my Japanese, and for me to ask loads of questions about Japan's food and culture. We did the Okonomiyaki set. Mine was normal (seen at front and left of images respectively) while my partner's was a fully vegetarian variant. Once more thank you to Hidemi, Hiromi, and Cooking Sun Tokyo as a whole for creating this wonderful experience for us to enjoy!

I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon in this very well organised sushi making (actually more than just sushi) class. Aya and Miki were delightful hosts and gave good instructions and demonstrations. I learned so much more than I expected and can’t wait to try my new skills at home back in Australia. I particularly enjoyed learning how to make dashi, miso soup and the egg roll. The venue is a small, very clean private apartment within a building that is a little difficult to find without google maps. When you get to the spot google maps takes you to, there is a small apartment block. up a few stairs on the right side where the letter boxes are you will see ‘Sun Cooking’, on the bottom letter box - use the apartment number for the intercom. There were 7 participants in our class including a mature 9 year old child who enjoyed the class and managed well. There will be a lot to eat at the end so don’t have lunch beforehand! If you have a small appetite I recommend you take a small sealed container with you to take away what tasty morsels you are unable to manage at the time. A wonderful experience❣️❤️🔪🥢🍲🍣❤️

The tutors are really nice and experienced, everything is prepared for the best possible experience for the participants :) Learned a lot, not only about the food and recipes, but also about Japan and it's different cities and cultures. 10/10 would come again. There are also an Okonomiyaki, Ramen and Gyoza making courses - something to do the next time I'm in Japan. They also have Kyoto and Osaka offices.

Had the most amazing class with Hiroymi. She was very helpful and had excellent demonstrations before allowing us to do it on our own. Delicious traditional Japanese cuisine would 10/10 recommend.

Japanese cooking lessons in English. On the menu: sushi, onigiri, rolled omelette and tasting! The staff is very friendly and will assist you in the preparation. Not bad, but the course is going very fast. Don't eat too much before the class, the tasting is very hearty.

We had such an enjoyable and informative cooking class from Yumi and her colleague. It was a very hands on experience with clear guidance and we made so much food which we could eat afterwards with Saki. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

We had such a wonderful experience at Cooking Sun Tokyo for our last day in Japan. The staff was accommodating for our party of 5 and very responsive when it came to answering logistical questions via email. All staff was SO knowledgeable about all of the food we were cooking with. We did the sushi and miso soup class. The environment of the class was lovely and the price is one of the best I saw out of cooking class options in Tokyo! Could not recommend enough.

Absolutely fantastic experience doing the sushi making class. Not only did we get to learn to make yummy sushi but also the intricate work required for dashi and sushi rice. It left me many times more appreciative of the sushi experience. Wonderful hosts with fluent English. Highly recommended.

Amazing cooking class in cute Japanese style apartment. The building was remodeled for the cooking class experience. Chef Yumi was very knowledgeable about history of the ingredients used in the class. She also explained what to look for at the grocery store to recreate your dishes at home. Would go again it was such a fun time!

Fantastic cooking experience! This was probably one of my favourite cooking classes I’ve ever gone to. Our teachers explained recipes clearly and simply. They discussed ingredients and pairings, which was very helpful and informative. The end result was a delicious meal and the confidence to recreate the recipe at home. I’m excited to try one of their other classes now! Highly recommend.

Took part in the class as part of a tour around Japan, and it was fantastic! We took the sushi class and everything was great. The teachers spoke good English and taught us about the ingredients going into everything we made and why they were used. We got to make our own sushi rice, Japanese omelette, and 4 different kinds of sushi. Would highly recommend, even if you are a beginner.
