I
have
been
undergoing
chemotherapy
for
lung
cancer
for
about
5
years.
Six
months
ago,
I
was
told
that
the
cancer
had
metastasized
to
my
brain,
and
my
doctor
at
a
university
hospital
recommended
radiation
therapy
called
whole-brain
irradiation.
I
was
told
that
this
treatment
can
cause
blurred
vision
within
a
few
months
as
a
side
effect,
so
I
asked
if
there
was
any
other
treatment
available,
and
the
Tsukiji
Neurology
Clinic
hurriedly
introduced
me
to
the
clinic,
saying
it
might
be
able
to
do
it
for
me.
In
my
case,
I
was
told
that
the
number
of
brain
metastases
was
16,
and
my
doctor
was
a
bit
skeptical
about
the
referral,
so
I
was
worried
for
a
few
days
before
going
to
see
the
doctor,
but
when
I
finally
went
to
see
the
doctor,
I
realized
that
there
were
16
brain
metastases.
"Yes,
but
it's
okay,"
he
said
casually,
and
I
was
admitted
to
the
hospital
for
2
nights
and
3
days
the
following
week.
I
thought
there
were
16
tumors,
but
in
the
end
they
treated
25
tumors.
(It
is
said
that
the
number
often
increases
when
a
detailed
image
of
the
head
is
taken.Also,
people
with
even
higher
numbers
have
been
treated
here
without
any
problems.)
During
the
treatment,
I
was
asleep
most
of
the
time
so
I
don't
remember
much,
but
the
treatment
lasted
for
a
long
time
and
I
was
discharged
safely
the
next
morning.
One
month
after
the
Gamma
Knife
treatment,
I
was
told
that
all
the
tumors
in
my
brain
had
disappeared,
and
I
couldn't
help
but
say,
``Wow!''
Approximately
six
months
have
passed
since
then,
and
I
have
no
particular
symptoms,
and
my
head
has
not
relapsed
and
I
am
living
my
life
without
any
problems.
I
hope
this
will
be
a
source
of
reassurance
for
those
who
have
the
same
concerns.
