An actual working observatory. The kind old man was very friendly and let me peek through the telescope. I actually was able to see the sun with its sunspots and solar flares. He didn't charge me anything for entry.

I came here because of the TV drama First Love. However, I enjoyed so much with my stay here. A small small observatory that you can just walk in and see sunspots and prominence through the telescope.

Lovely little place and the observatory staff is very friendly and polite. He seems passionate about what he does and is a wealth of information. Very accomodating with information. We even got to see Mars with the telescope.

One word...Wow! It was a great example to visit the observatory. The visit was free, and it was less crowded when I visited there. The observatory scientist was very friendly and showed us the Sun and Venus. He also showed how the telescope is aligned to different positions. He explained many other observations that are possible during different times of the year. I recommend everyone to visit if you are interested in astronomy. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Lovely and nice Observatory. Staff was so kind. My Japanese skill is really poor but he constantly trying to tell me about stars and signs. Thanks for him:) You don’t have to pay for entry or see the telescope. Just remember about running time.

The staff are amazing, using a translator to explain what we were looking at, great to visit during the day or night.

Very friendly staff who tried his best to use a device to translate his speech into the language that the visitor speaks. The observatory is in a beautiful park and is free.

visited on a weekend. it was not very crowded as i arrived pretty early. the sapporo city observatory is tall enough to see the city lining, and i can imagine how beautiful it will be during sunset. staff within the building at nice. you will need to purchase a ticket at 3rd level to access the lift which brings you to the observatory deck.

It’s free but advanced appointment is needed. Didn’t get to see any stars that night as it was cloudy but the staff still did an explanation photo tour of the stars that we can see if the sky is clear.

Two of us got there on 31 March 23 before noon. There was only one guest and one staff and looked like he was about to close for lunch break but he kindly accommodated us and allowed us to view the sun through the 20cm diameter refractor. It was amazing to see sun spots and flares live! We then requested to see Venus and Hayashi-san kindly obliged and moved the dome to target the planet. Even in bright sunlight we could see Venus in 3/4 crescent clearly. What a treat and it's free. Really appreciate the enthusiasm of Hayashi-san to share knowledge and being courteously accommodating of us. Arigato gosaimas Hayashi-san!

The personnel in charge was a friendly and helpful man. It’s quite interesting to be able to observe the sun using the huge telescope. We were at the park last December just to play snow slide but the observatory was perched on top of the small hill where we played, so I took my daughter to check it out.

Nice little place to check in the park. Hayashi-san was very kind and enthusiastic. He told me about his travels to the US, and talked of images from the telescope. The weather wasn't clear enough for any telescope views, but it was still nice to visit. In the winter, you can ride a sled right in front of the observatory.
