The best hostel experience I've had in Japan. Stayed here twice this year after multi-day hikes in the Kiso Valley and Kamikochi, and felt entirely rejuvenated after my stay. The host Take is very helpful and accommodating, and an experienced solo traveler, which shows in his design and management of the hostel. Great central location 5 minutes from the castle. Note, the hostel has a very well put together website in Japanese and English. Hope to be back again someday! - Ben

(Translated by Google) I've stayed at various hostels, but it's the first time I've been able to reach the itch! In particular, I was impressed by the information on recommended restaurants and public baths that were handmade, and the luggage storage area right next to the entrance, where guests could enjoy the city of Matsumoto on their own. Also, the sense of distance between the owner and the guest was just right, and I was comfortable with both the time alone and the interaction with other guests and the owner. I will go to stay again!

Friendly host, relaxed vintage decor with a Japanese twist and quirky antiques in the shared area. Kitchen looks well equipped with other guests cooking up a storm. Shared space good for meeting people. Lots of local information available. Lots of instruments for the impromptu jam sessions which I got to enjoy last night.

Great host, great atmosphere, really good location (lots of great izakayas in the neighborhood). Highly recommend taking one of their bikes to explore the outskirts of the city.

The best hostel I've seen so far ! The owner is very kind and speaks English. The hostel is in an old building which gives it charm. Futons are comfortable and with plenty of space. You will find a lot of information regarding the restaurants, the onsens and even the hikes like how to go to kamikochi. And since it's pretty small you start to speak very quickly with the other guest ! With another guest that I met at the hostel we went biking (with the bike of the hostel that you can use for free !!) and it was very nice. Plus : I love the name Honestly: I was actually sad to leave it lmfaoo

I enjoyed my stay a lot. Very cosy traditional japanese style hostel with a great host and nice atmosphere. There are board games and music instruments. You can take a bike for free and explore the city. 15 min from the jr station and 5 min from Matsumoto castle. I was in another hostel for one night and it made me realize even more, that this hostel is the best in town. Origatou gozaimasu, Takeru.

I like the decorations of the hostels. It is a mixture of different styles. The staffs are so friendly and kind. I got a lot of useful information from them. Moreover, the location of the hostel is very convenient, especially there are free bikes for us to use.

Location is near the main attractions at Matsumoto and also walking distance from the station. The owner is friendly and all the amenities are clean and well maintained. He is able to speak good English and has many recommendations and guides for nearby attractions. Provides luggage storage and free bike rental! Lounge and common kitchen space is great if you need to make yourself quick meal. Best part was that the mattresses were so thick and fluffy, I slept so well.

I spent such a wonderful time in here! The house was really nice in a Japanese style, the owner and staff was wonderful people, we could play music together, and they teached me how to play the Taishogoto! I'll keep nice memories of my trip in Matsumoto!

One of the best hostel stays in Matsumoto. The staff are incredibly friendly, the interior is beautiful, everything is tidy, and there's so much room to hang out and converse. Plenty of amenities for long term stays too, all at a very competitive price point. Would definitely come back to stay here again the next time I decide to visit Matsumoto.
