👍👍 What an amazing experience. My family’s first time in Kyoto and I just knew I wanted to purchase a sword. I wanted to buy an antique sword at first, but when I saw it I knew I had to have it, and now I’m a proud owner of a real Katana. I also bought 2 Iaito swords for my 2 sons. Haruko is such a swe... I bought some new iai-jutsu gears here today. Staffs here are helpful and can speak English. There is a beautiful garden for customers to test swing swords to you choose the right sword to buy.

Went to this store to check out some authentic Japanese katana. The downstairs has modern, non edged practice/display katana as well as Iaido supplies and bows. The second floor has the cool antique (more than 100 year old) and more modern (less than 100 year old) edged katana for sale. Continuous flow of people so obviously a well known place. Very helpful and English speaking staff. Also a nice collection of reproduced samurai armor. A nice place to check out a piece of Japanese history and maybe buy a nice souvenir. The non edged practice/display katana start around 80,000 yen. The least expensive antique/modern edged katana started at 400,000 yen.

Walked in by complete happenstance after an Iaido experience in Kyoto. Ended up purchasing my first Iaito here and having it shipped home so I can begin practicing myself. Simple process. They allowed me to try the sword in the back garden before I decided. I wish I had more knowledge, or maybe the shop keeper sized me for the sword properly, since I ended up getting a sword slightly too long for my height, but thats my fault.

This place was so fun and cool! There were amazing displays and you can spend between $400-$700 to get a fully customized training and decoration sword if the ones you see on the wall don't connect with you. I definitely got a customized one. You won't find too much here if you're looking for true antiques and "real weapons" aside from maybe upstairs. Downstairs is a really cool shop for training swords, wooden swords, bows, armor, training gis and other useful items. None of the swords in the shop downstairs are sharp or can be sharpened. Upstairs is a truly fantastic little museum/display of katanas, art, and armor. The retailers are kind and super helpful. Definitely recommend a visit.

If you’re a die hard samurai sword fan then this place is a must when visiting Kyoto. I’d done my research leading up to my trip and Tozando didn’t disappoint. Downstairs is all you can want for Iaito and archery. Upstairs is the holy grail of swords and armour. If you’re in the market for a genuine antique then be sure to go here. My dad couldn’t help himself and even ended up buying an Iaito of his own!

Very neat and authentic samurai museum and shop. The swords on the first floor are training swords, they also have sharp knives and throwing stars. The top floor is an exquisite trip to the world of samurai. Featuring authentic katana from historic Japanese time periods and very cool samurai armours. This place is a must visit for fans of samurai and katana, I didn't buy anything but the shop workers were still friendly in showing the swords on the first floor and having a little conversation. They did speak a bit of English and were nice folks. Overall I recommend this shop very much especially while on the way to the Heian Shrine.

I came here back in January during my birthday trip to Japan. You know when in japan you have to check out a place with traditional swords. It was a great experience. Peter who works at the shop was very knowledgeable and patient. We were there asking all types of questions and he was able to guide us through them all. He helped me purchase my first katana!!! I was as happy as a child in a candy store! The icing on the cake though was definitely trying on the armor. That is a must for when you visit. I am definitely coming back to visit when I return to Japan.

Very friendly staff. One of the staff members speaks excellent English (rare in Japan). Extensive explanations about the swords and the armours. Beautiful new and antique swords.

Great place with great customer service. The gentleman who helped knew enough English, which made it much easier considering the items for sale. I try to use as much of the little Japanese I know but when purchasing a sword, the subject matter requires a little bit more than the normal souvenir. The bottom floor has their lesser expensive items (can still go in the couple thousands) while their second floor holds the good stuff. Second floor has the antiques that run in the multiple thousands. Will definitely be visiting again, especially the second floor.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! My husband has always wanted a katana since he was a young boy. So when we went to japan for our honeymoon we had to go to the best of the best and it is definitely this place! All the workers there are so kind, patient, and knowledgeable. We were a little shy but they gently encouraged us to choose some swords to look at closer. They answered all of my husband's questions and helped him pick the sword of his dreams. They also have extensive experience shipping swords to the US and made it so easy! It actually reached our home in 3 days! Also I totally bonded with one of the sale lady over my camera! I could not recommend this store more! Everyone else needs to love their childhood selves and buy the sword of their dreams here as well!!

I purchased a laido here during my visit in Kyoto and was very happy with the staff and the selections. The staff was also able to speak English and was very nice and accommodating. Shipping with UPS to USA was 7000 yen but there is also a customs fee of 42 dollars you will have to pay when you receive the shipment.

Very nice samurai swords and various weapons. This shop is the real deal you will only find authentic swords and those cost much more than you think. Cheapest full size sword was $5000 USD and the prices escalated from there quickly. They can also help ship to your country and the shop owner is very nice.

Beautiful selection of practice swords and real swords made by swordsmiths in Japan. They were very helpful and kind when helping us select a sword. They were able to ship the sword, no problem to the United States. We paid a small fee at the shop and then UPS charged a fee when it got to the U.S.. I recommend Tozando :)

This is a fantastic shop for anyone who wants to buy or even just look at swords and other martial arts supplies. They even allowed me to go inside and browse despite its still too early when arrived before their opening hours. Grateful to Mr. Sato Shodo who helped me a lot in choosing my Iado samurai sword and tanto knife . I opted to send these via UPS as I am still weeks in Japan before going home to Canada. All the transaction went well and swords even arrived a couple of days before I arrived as planned. All the documents and taxes were all arranged well and the swords are packaged really well too. I highly recommend this shop for anyone who wants to buy swords. They even informed me to visit their other shop just 2 minutes away which displays all higher end samurai swords by masters

We visited this store in person and found the woman working that day to be very warm and personable. We bought an iaito that day and have also purchased several items through their online store, and found them to be good quality with prompt shipping.

Great store with many varieties of traditional Japanese swords, and armors! I have been doing Iaido for over 10 years and I go here for my equipment every year when we come to Kyoto during the summer for training. The staff speaks English also so there is no trouble with communication and their service is first class!

I had a fantastic buying experience here. It is a fantastic place to look at some modern and historic weaponry as well as buying a sword. The shopkeepers are very kind and don't push you to buy. I would like to extend my gratitude to Sato-san who was very helpful in the process of buying a sword. I highly recommend this shop to anyone interested in buying a sword as a citizen of Japan or just as a tourist. Don't worry about shipping either as they are experts in getting your brand new sword back to your home country.

English speaking, friendly, and professional staff. The store itself is very unique, yet, they don't usually keep lotta stock. Check up their website you can find out more quality goods.
