I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and disappointment with the glaucoma surgery my mother underwent at BESH hospital. Unfortunately, the surgery was a complete failure, and she is still suffering from its after-effects nearly a year later. During the surgery, needles were used for anesthesia for the eye, compared to droplets, and after the procedure, she was unable to see well. Other doctors we consulted later told us that the needle had destroyed some of the muscles in her eye, which caused the loss of muscles coordination. She has been undergoing treatment and care for the past year, but her vision has not improved, and she continues to suffer. I believe that the surgery was not carried out with the necessary care and expertise, which has caused her significant distress and discomfort. I would not recommend BESH hospital to anyone else. I believe that it is essential for the hospital to take responsibility for the mistake and provide us with the necessary support and guidance to alleviate any suffering, however this was not the case.

We went twice for the same problem and my wife almost got her eye infected because of their neglegance. With a lack of professionalism they insisted that there was nothing stuck in her eye, but after my wife endured a month of eye pain, I decided to take her to a real eye doctor outside of this hospital. The doctor directly found the thing that was stuck and removed it and my wife was immediately relieved. Don't trust this place with anything, and certainly not your eyes.

They have good doctors and friendly staff. The day of cataract operation was fast.. quick service. However the day prior the surgery, during the tests.. it was too crowded.. many people were not wearing a mask. Also to mention that the fees were expensive

I went one month ago in emergency the night to this hospital because i thought something got stuck in my eye . The doctor saw and told me its only scratched. One week after i came back because i still had the pain he told me again the scratch is still here. Two weeks after i still had this pain and put the drops he told me. And actually i went to another doctor in another hospital today : i really got something stuck in me eye !!! Two times i went to this hospital and the doctor didnt saw that!! Unprofessional, lost money and dangerous for your health !!!!!!!

Poor appointments' management, you stay there for hours regardless of your appointment time

Called and stayed on the line for 10 mins until a guy answered and then put me back on hold for another 5 mins until the line was dead. I definitely won't be calling again and waiting all that time to get an appointment. So many good doctors out there!

WE WERE IN THE ROOM WITH HIM FOR LESS THAN 15 SECONDS WHEN HIS NURSE WAS ALREADY ASKING US TO EXIT THE ROOM. HOW DO YOU DIAGNOSE A PERSON WHEN YOU ARE TALKING TO THREE DIFFERENT PATIENTS AND HOW DO YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO BRING THEM ALL INTO THE SAME ROOM AT THE SAME TIME ? THIS DOCTOR IS PART OF THE PROBLEM IN LEBANON, CORRUPT, ABOVE THE LAW, ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD HE WOULD HAVE BEEN STRIPPED OF HIS LICENSE, MALPRACTICE ! ALL ABOUT MONEY ! I recommend this hospital for many reasons I went there for regular checkups with Dr Danny Cherfane, my non-Lebanese sister in law went there late at night on the New Year’s Eve for an urgent check up and was very well taken care of, I went for the PRK surgery to correct my myopia and astigmatism. Despite the surgery being very stressful for me, Rita was so helpful in providing me with all the information I asked for! During the surgery Dr Jarade was very nice and even agreed to listen to music with me. Merci 🤩

I have been followed up in Besh since Years, by Dr Ziad Khweir. I can’t recommend him nor the hospital enough for the wonderful work they Have been doing. Such an empathetic professional and loving team. I have visited so many Drs all over the world and visited many eye hospitals; yet, and very objectively i have never been followed that closely and that ethically by anyone else. Dr Khweir knows very well the scope of his work and in case of Co morbidities, he knows the limit of whAt he does and recommends excellent colleague of his at all times. The worst hospital to ever exist in the country. I never had to encounter what i did here. I had my surgery scheduled over 1 and half month prior to my surgery. And i went there for a check up 4 days pre-surgery, and after getting my pcr test done and bringing all my tests with me, the coward doctors or should i say clowns decided to cancel my surgery out literally 4 days before and out of nowhere because they were “scared to take risks”🤡🤡🤡as if they didn’t sign up for that when they decided to become doctors

In the most famous hospitals in Beirut last week, I was subjected to the greatest harm that could have costed me my life because of the stupidity of the anaesthetist. I have been hopping between emergency rooms and other ENT doctors for the past week trying to correct the mistake of that unprofessional anaesthetist who was unable to conduct a proper intubation. The other experts informed me that the insertion of the oxygen tube during my intubation was very aggressive which had caused my loss of oxygen and damages such as the tearing off the tissues in the contact area of my throat. I was also released without the hospital treating the damages nor observing my alarming health condition after I mentioned that I am not able to swallow, and I have severe pain. Ironically, the operation was supposed to be a simple operation in which I could have been released in two hours. I am very disappointed by the experience I had at The Beirut Eye & ENT Specialist Hospital.

It is disappointing in a time of crisis, the greed we see in some of the health care institutions. It is not enough to charge 6000$ for an eye surgery (only one eye), in a time where it would take at least 3 years for the regular employee to come up with that amount saving every cent of his/her salary, they need to charge the dollar today at 100,000 when it is 96,000. And what is even sadder, is that there is no one to hold them accountable.

Doctor Daniel was professional and so were the staff who tended to mom. But my issues have to do with the physical structure of the hospital. My mom is going to have cataract surgery in two days. The pre op visit had been quite an adventure (not in a good way). My mom is in a wheelchair. She needed a battery of tests done prior to her surgery. Moving her around from one floor to another and from one room to the next has been quite challenging. The doors are very narrow so she needed to constantly get up to walk inside the rooms. The hallways are so tight that I needed to constantly shift her around to allow others to pass by. The examination rooms were so tiny that I needed to plan how to get het undressed, out of the chair and on to the examination bed. The visit added more stress to the already stressful situation because of mom’s serious chronic conditions that rendered her weak and incapable of easy movements. Senior citizens make up a good chunk of the patients who go to BESH for treatment. I believe the administration need to address these issues seriously and promptly. Building a universal healthcare facility that accommodates every patient with every disability under the sun should be a priority. We need to treat people with respect and dignity.

Thank you, Dr. Georges Cherfan, Today, 25 May 2023, I had a successful CATARACT operation for my right eye. As I was the regional IBM Manager in Paris, my evaluation and assessment are professional: 1- I was very impressed by the timely organization of the Post Operation procedures. Although there was a crowd (which is a good indicator), however, the organization “Process” and “procedures” of the administration and medical team were perfect. The overall time took about 3 hours as planned. The personnel were very cooperative, smiling, welcoming, quick and professional with all necessary post operation documents, information, and medical checks. 2- The day of the operation, again, the time was exact as planned, the administration, nurses and medical team were very nice, welcoming, and professional. 3- In the operation room, extreme precautions were taken for any unexpected incident, where Dr. Cherfan completed the operation without any considerable discomfort. All the time, the nurses were talking to me with nice words and encouragement. 4- The next day, in his checkup, Dr. Cherfan was very pleased of the result and gave me the Post Operation instruction. He removed the eye cover patch. 5- The next day I was seeing with my eye clearly at 90% with no inflammation, picking or pain. Normal expected discomfort. 6- With this success, I am encouraged to do the same operation for the second eye 7- The only inconvenience is not professional, medical or organizational. It is purely psychological for the patients feeling crowded due to the narrow corridors or the irregular waiting room. For me it was not a big deal, but for the most of the Lebanese who like to complaint, it is an issue to be solved. 8- Bottom line, thank you very much Dr. Cherfan, I will surely recommend you and your hospital for all who may need eyes care.

Good medical care, experienced professional doctors. However, staff and operations do a mediocre job. They never stick to appointments, day of surgery the wait is always 1-2 hours waiting for rooms to clear (several entries with same experience) I doubt someone ever reads these reviews, but in case they do, IT WOULD HELP THE ADMINISTRATION TO ENHANCE THE PATIENT EXPERIENCE, RATHER THAN TREAT THEM AS THE COUNTRY TREATS THEIR CITIZENS. LOOK INTO YOUR OPERATIONS,REDUCE WAITING TIMES, DO NOT BRING INPATIENTS BEFORE CONFIRMING AVAILABILITY IN YOUR ROOMS. THIS IS NOT A RESTAURANT TO WAIT FOR A TABLE TO CLEAR.
