Situated
in

Lebanese
city

Byblos,
the
magnificent
Saint
John
Mark's
Basilica
is
a
Romanesque
cathedral
that
is
devoted
to
Saint
John
Mark
-
the
patron
saint
of
the
city
of
Byblos
and
the

Originally

the
Baptist,
it
was
constructed
by

Despite
enduring
various
natural
disasters
such
as
earthquakes,
which
led
to
its
collapse,
the
church
was
renovated
by
the
Lebanese
Maronite
Order
in
1764
after
the
donation
of
Yusuf
al-Shihabi.
Following

Despite
undergoing
damage
during

Crisis
of
1840
due
to
bombings,
the
church
was
repaired
and
is
now
open
