This is an absolutely gorgeous church in historical with Louis Lebanon. I have been here several times in visiting the market, and it is also close to the beautiful outdoor free garden. You should visit all three! The church is holy and quiet and peaceful. We met father Joseph who is a gentle, humble and kind man. We are thankful for the marinate press and see your camera and the chance to freely worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in this place. May God be praised :-)

Couldn't get enough from this peaceful and serene place. St John Romanesque Cathedral is mixed with Arab and Italian designs with leftovers of Byzantine mosaics. A place to admire and pray✝️

Attended a Lebanese wedding... My first. The bride was beautiful, the groom attentive and witnesses aplenty. A beautiful night was had by all.

Very cool historical church. I could not fi d any Mass schedule, but went for Sunday Mass at 6pm hoping there would be one. Luckily there was. It was not open during the weekdays, which I respect because it is an active church, not a museum, but I did want to visit during the day to look around more.

Situated in the Lebanese city of Byblos, the magnificent Saint John Mark's Basilica is a Romanesque cathedral that is devoted to Saint John Mark - the patron saint of the city of Byblos and the pioneer of the initial Christian community there. Originally named the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, it was constructed by the Crusaders in 1115. Despite enduring various natural disasters such as earthquakes, which led to its collapse, the church was renovated by the Lebanese Maronite Order in 1764 after the donation of Yusuf al-Shihabi. Following the restoration, it reopened in 1776. Despite undergoing damage during the Levantine Crisis of 1840 due to bombings, the church was repaired and is now open to visitors. You should never miss the opportunity to visit this peaceful and serene atmosphere that encourages visitors to meditate and connect with their faith.

Fascinating romanesque church in the middle of an archaeological area. "The church itself was built in 1115 A.D by the Crusaders, originally as the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist"

It's such a beautiful church, both inside and out. The building is ancient, and you'll notice how nature has shaped the stone. There are nice gardens surrounding the church, making it a lovely, quiet place to pray.
