This scenic little village is not obscenely overpriced trying to fleece tourists on every corner. Everything is moderately priced and is more or less fine in that respect. You can walk around the whole place in about a day but i would recommend two days to have a couple of different lunches or dinners or go back to a place you really enjoyed the first day you arrived. My only complaint is everything shuts at 10pm πŸ˜ƒ

Beautiful streets in traditional Korean style. Many paces with street food, restaurants and souvenir shops. I think it's a great place to spend Christmas with family or friends. Many people in the street are dressed in hanbok. There is also an opportunity to rent costumes for a small price (10.000 β‚© - 20.000 β‚©)

The complex of Hanok house which are occupied by the cafe, shopping and restaurant. It's good to stroll around to take photos. Don't forget to drop by the palace and Confucian school nearby

This is the best traditional Korean village that I've visited thus far. The active shops, urban art sculptures and well paved roads really make the village a 21st century walkable street seamlessly engaged with the cultural identity. People walking in rental costumes add to the atmosphere, even the cheeky cross dressers. 🀭

The colourful old hanok neighbourhood in the historical old town of Jeonju. There are several places offering the opportunity to dress up in Korean traditional attire as well as many food stalls and souvenir shops. A great place to visit both during the day and night.

The Hanok Village in Seoul in the City of Jeonju is an old traditional community whose community display an old Korean Houses. This traditional community was over 1000 yrs old of history that displays authentic Korean Houses. This city was known in that era as the Spiritual Capital of the Jeoson Dynasty.

Great place! I'd recommend staying a night in a hanok to get the full experience. 24 hours here is more than enough. Go out for an early morning stroll if you can. Nobody out there and you can enjoy all of its beauty!

It was memorable trip for my family. The weather was so nice and clear, the hotel was just right in the village. I didn’t plan multiple things for a night and 2 days trip, I just leisurely roam around in the place and had fun. We had rented a buggy it was easy to access most places without hassle for a small kid and elderly members. That places were so beautiful and impressive. There were lots of things to see and do for fun. Since it’s famous tourist spot for not only Korean also foreigners, everything’s quite costly. Overall all of us had a blast.

Great place with a much slower pace. Get yourself a stay in an hanok to experience what it's like to live in one. Rent a hanbok to walk around and snap nice photos. A great experience!

Parking tip: when you stuck finding a parking spot, then go to κ΅λ¦½λ¬΄ν˜•μœ μ‚°μ›, and along the place you can find many street parking. It seems the police is okay for thr street parking. In fact, you can be even closer to the μ „μ£Όν–₯ꡐ. Try ν•œκ΅μ§‘. the bibimbob. I ate heated one. Strongly recommend to wear korean traditional clothes you can rent there so many place you can rent. So fun to wear and walk around and take photos. Not too big place so you can enjoy for less than 4 hrs.

A great place to experience a feel of korean traditional style villages & dressing. And try also some of the famous foods such as Jeonju Bibimpap and Jeonju handmade choco pie.

I have visited several Hanok villages since I came to Korea and this one is the largest one so far. They have also preserved a lot of hanok which was impressive. There's also a Confucian school in pristine condition as well as over 500yr old ginko trees. We visited on a weekday (Thursday and Friday) and enjoyed a lesser crowd. Be sure to walk by the river near the Omokgyo and catch the sunset there, it's so beautiful and calming. There's plenty of cafes and restaurants to eat in. We prefer going to the hole-in-the-wall/mom and pop shops for the full experience. By noon of Friday, tourists started pouring in and it's a great view seeing a lot of people walking in rented hanboks or Japanese era Korea costumes. It's like traveling back in time.

A wonderful place showing the antics of traditional Korean cultures. There is no entry fee, the parking lots and washrooms are available. The hanbok shops are there where one can rent hanbok on time basis and also can have photos. Different food and souvenir shops, over the sidewalks, will be short stops while wondering. The village has traditional alcohol museum, fan culture center, calligraphy museum, folk culture museums and many more are inside the village periphery. The famous Namcheongyo Bridge and Jaman mural village are at the end of the village. I feel one day is not enough, one should avail the home stay inside the village to enjoy the night view. We went during winter and the snow covered village welcomed us with full warmth ❀️❀️. Hanok village can be a good option for weekend tour with friends and family.. And when you go donot miss the λΉ„λΉ”λ°₯....

Totally an interesting place to visit if you want to experience some kind of traditional living in Korea! There're a lot of traditional houses, some historic sites, and also you can strolling around while wearing a Hanbok (Korean traditional clothes)). There's a parking lot and a lot of toilets spread around the village. There's also a free locker.

I am happy that the livelihood is back to the Hanok Village. A lot of people wearing traditional costumes and trying street food. There was a traditional music festival too. The weather was great and it was a perfect day.

One of my favourite places in South Korea. An intriguing contrast to the cool vibrancy of the cities. Extremely well preserved Hanok village, with so many wonderful spots to explore and venture. Traditional hanok-style hotels, cafes serving traditional food and drinks, and incredibly beautiful buildings and sights throughout the village.

It’s a bit of touristy site but good way to introduce Korea to who’s visiting abroad and locals to Korean history and culture. There is one big church in the middle of the village so expect to find random strangers approaching you with pamphlets, cards or just standing there so better to avoid or ignore them. I would only come again just to eat but not to visit the village again.

Jeonju Hanok Village, nestled in the heart of South Korea, is a captivating blend of tradition and charm. With its narrow alleyways, well-preserved hanoks (traditional Korean houses), and vibrant cultural atmosphere, it offers a glimpse into the country's rich heritage. Wandering through the village, one is transported to a bygone era, where tiled roofs and wooden structures reflect the architectural elegance of the Joseon Dynasty. The intricate design of the hanoks, adorned with colorful doors and windows, adds a picturesque quality to the surroundings. The village is a haven for food enthusiasts, renowned for its bibimbap, a traditional Korean mixed rice dish. The local eateries, tucked away in the alleys, serve up delectable delights, allowing visitors to savor authentic Korean flavors. The ambiance is heightened by the presence of art galleries, craft shops, and traditional tea houses, providing a holistic cultural experience. The Hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) rental services add an extra layer of immersion, allowing visitors to stroll through the village dressed in elegant attire. Despite its popularity, Jeonju Hanok Village maintains an authentic charm, providing a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Whether appreciating the historical architecture, indulging in local cuisine, or simply taking in the tranquil surroundings, this village stands as a living testament to South Korea's cultural legacy.

Village is quite touristy, full of both local people and tourists wearing hanbok for photo shooting. Lots of coffee shop and restaurants to consider. I don’t like the crowd but I will come back for the food :)

Many people rent the traditional clothes (hanbok) to feel the vibes here. Pick the right season like autumn to see the beautiful fall leaves.

Locals: I found that the locals were super friendly (and intrigued by foreigners, we got stopped by locals to take selfies). Credit to the ahjumma that helped us with the handbok experience - she was so lovely and despite the language difference, made sure to clearly communicate cost of hanbok hire by manually typing into a calculator. Experience: Definitely try a bibimbap from Jeonju - they're known for this! If having it the traditional style, then it's raw beef and raw egg yolk! I wasn't game enough to try it, but my friend was. I decided to get into a hanbok and I'm glad I did, even if it was at night and I was freezing my butt off. Overall Take: I would go return again! For the bibimbap, for the hanbok experience, for the locals.

Must visit place if you admire traditional architecture. The village has a mix of Hanok ( traditional houses ) and shops all embodying the beautiful traditional architecture. There are also a lot of events that happen with cultural shows etc. Highly recommend checking those so you can plan ahead. There are a lot of hanbok ( traditional clothing) rental shops as well and you can see a lot of people strolling along wearing hanboks. For food: definitely try the famous Jeonju bibimbap and Jeonju choco pie.

I went on the cold and rainy day, not really ideally. The village is ancient vibes but may take around 2-3 hours to explore with also some food around. It may get bored in the evening (after 7pm)

You get to see the Hanok, traditional Korean buildings of the Josean era. There are also guest houses in the village. You can rent a vehicle to explore the village, rent Hanbok, and walk around for photos. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to enjoy. There is also a huge Cathedral, unfortunately we weren't able to visit as there was a wedding in progress.

The place is nice, but it's a theme park. Lots of Koreans wearing traditional clothing and lots of food. A bit like Disney...

Super cute village with a lot for local stores. The place looks amazing and you can get local food and tea here. For sure the best thing about Jeonju.

A little jewel - this hanok village is a dream to walk around in. One full day is enough for the area, and prepare higher prices in shops. Tea houses and coffee shops are all beautifully made and a pleasure to sit inside. Try traditional korean cakes, desserts and teas all around, and eat a Bibimbap because this is the place where it originates from.

Nice city Jeonju. Beautiful historic buildings and great tasty restaurants. Also young peoples dressing up as korean traditional dress was fun to watch. Overall it is great to visit.

The Hanok Village is interesting to see. One can also book a little house there for a few nights for the experience. Walls are not very soundproof, therefore noise should be avoided during the night. Lots of restaurants nearby too.

A wonderful place to visit and stay in a traditional Korean Hanok. Very busy in the weekends. Great to see that there are many living in the Hanok village. Cobblestone streets, cute alleyways, and tons of murals. Rental hanboks available and many people wearing them throughout the village. Lots to see and experience!

The place I love the most in my hometown. Just walking along the streets is an experience pleasant enough. You can experience staying at traditional Korean houses, various street foods, and gorgeous views from a pavillion called "Omokdae".

  • 4/5 Brandz L. 1 year ago on Google
The palace looks old n in need of repair. Maybe it is meant to showcase how they live. But the shophouse n houses where the shops are look new and well maintained. Lots of tourists shops and snacks. Renting Hanok Costumes and photography shop gets you in the mood for the Jeonju traditional experience.
