We choose Dorrian's Red Hand on our first night in Jersey City based on what was open and Google reviews. We were disappointed as this is one case where the restaurant did not live up to the reviews. It's not that we had a bad time, it just wasn't good. The service was prompt and pleasant. We found the food average at best. The chicken tenders were not. The cheese steak rolls were begging for more cheese. The best we had were the sliders. We must remind you that we are Canadian...where no burger is served cooler than medium-well...so when these little babies came out with some life left in them...happiness ensued. We're not saying Dorrian's Red Hand is a bad choice. You will get value for your money. We just found other choices which we like better nearby. As always, food is subjective...Dorrian's service is enough for me to recommend their restaurant if bar food is what you're craving.

This is undoubtedly one of my better places to visit with friends. The kitchen closes at 10 PM the bar is open till 2 AM. It is located across the street if the Newport path station. The food is tasty and the staff is helpful. Surely recommend this place to hang out with friends.

In short, we won't bother returning. Looks very inviting -- which actually made us expect a good meal. And then the food was decidedly bar food. My lemon chicken was clearly from frozen, complete with fake grill lines. The "famous" chicken pot pie was heavy on the crust and light on the filling. The salad looked like it was a bit too old. The Sangria was tiny. Restrooms were freezing. Even though nearly empty, it was louder than it should have been.

We started off with the Steak Salad. It was tasty (on the spicer side but we loved it) For mains had burgers and sandwiches all of them were good. We had the Beef Burger, Fried Chicken Sandwich and Steak Sandwich. We subbed out the fires for Broccoli, Spinach and sweet potato waffle fries. Great staff and quick service.

Such an unexpected gem. We went here on a whim and were delighted with amazing food and impeccable, upbeat service. Fred was a delight - someone who truly loves to serve others and ensure they have a delightful experience. Met one of the owners who is passionate about what he does and works hard to make each encounter special. We went for lunch and had such a great time that we came back for the comedy show. Maria did such a great job making me and my friends feel welcome and taken care of. The Caesar salad had the best dressing I’ve ever had. The chicken pot pie crust was super flaky and decadent. Drinks were amazing, highly recommend the Captain Morgan Cream Soda. So many vegetarian options for my friends who don’t eat meat. Really just an amazing experience all around. 10/10

We had an amazing dinner here. The food is amazing. We stayed a bit longer in the evening and the atmosphere was great! The service is excellent too. The price is reasonable! I would definitely recommend this place!

This is the perfect place on a game night. If you are around this area do visit this spot. The nachos were well seasoned and tasty. Alcoholic beverages and beers are good here. Great service by Nicholas.

I arrived around 4:30 and I sat in the bar (which was rather full) and the service was phenomenal!! Karen did an amazing job making sure everyone was taken care of in a timely manner and she always had a smile on her face. Regrettably, I did not get the name of the man that was clearing tables and supporting her but they were a great team. The food was awesome too!

Really good food, the server was really personable. I wish i would have tried the local favorites! The Buffalo chicken wrap was really good though and the fries were awesome.

Theres no happy hour, but the cocktails are all under $15. I was not expecting this bc im so used to paying $20-$25 for drinks in NYC. Bartenders know how to pour also. The food was good too, but i only tried a few friends appetizers. Highly recommended.

had great time there, loved the vibe and and amazing staff. I didn't get chance to try food there since went there late at night but tried blue LIT, it was pretty good. had a fun time there, there is indoor and outdoor seating available. definitely going there again.

We were here for a midnight drinks close to our hotel in Jersey city /Newport. What I like thed the most was the location. And the next was service. I did not eat anything since this was a post dinner affair. But I went through the menu and there were a few vegetarian items I would have ordered if I could go back. The server was super nice and ambiance was warm and welcoming too!

A must, when we go to NJ/NY. Good food and spirits and great staff. Great location!

Went with some friends for the comedy night and it was a disappointment. My dinner was fine, nothing special, but the chocolate cake dessert was pretty bad. My friend and I both got it and left most of it. The two item requirement for the comedy show made the night rather expensive, as I wasn't drinking at the time and had to order two food items. The comedy show I saw was unfortunately very painful. Two of the comedians were good, but everybody else bombed, telling jokes to a nearly-silent, uncomfortable audience. Unsure if I just caught a bad night or if this is just what happens when you try to put together a comedy club in Newport, but I wouldn't ever recommend this place to a friend.

My experience at this restaurant was a mix of hits and misses. The flatbread pizza I ordered was average, nothing exceptional. However, the French Kiss cocktail I tried was quite good, with a delightful blend of flavors. On the bright side, they had a decent selection of tap beers to choose from, offering a variety of options. Overall, it was a decent experience, with the standout being the tasty cocktail and the good selection of tap beers.

Great staff, environment, and food. Our waiter was young but knowledgeable and gave some great recommendations! A very seamless and smooth meal, would certainly go back!!

My partner and I ate here our first night in Jersey City. 10/10. The atmosphere was great. The service was phenomenal. The drinks and food came out fast. Definitely try the whiskey cake !! Will definitely be coming back here next time I am in the area.

The food was okay, and surprisingly I actually felt full after having tacos. My personal preference is hard shell, but I didn’t know if people can change that.

A very rainy night of a stay in the NYC area. We ate here last year on another visit, staying in a hotel in the area. Great, with personable service, good food and convenience, what more could you ask for? Well, we ate here twice!! I really liked the salmon.

Good lineup. It takes a lot for us to be picky about a place but we kindly asked FOUR TIMES for waters (once while ordering our drinks before show and again upon receiving our apps). Since everyone around us seemed to be accommodated, we then politely asked a third time as our unfinished food was removed from our table without comment(we were shocked and dumbfounded, still so focused on first getting waters in addition to drinks). Then, finally, upon a 4th more directed, “Could we please have those waters in addition to a second round?”(thinking this might motivate…?), we received waters an hour into the show! Comedians were funny(as referenced in beginning of post).

I'd honestly more describe this place like a pub, and i loved it! Had a couple drinks to celebrate an occasion, and a great hamburger. Definitely a great place to pull in if you're staying near jersey city. Right off the Newport station and probably cheaper than your average hotel bar

Lovely Irish Bar beside the Newport Centre. Warm friendly a very good variety of drinks available. The burgers are amazing and the Guinness is very good. Definitely worth a visit and they have an outside dining area.

We had a wedding weekend in this area of Jersey City and Dorrian’s was the MVP of the weekend. Thursday we had a little cocktail party and small bites in their private room and the night of our wedding we went here for drinks after. The service is great! The food and drinks we had were all very good. They stayed open late for us the night of our wedding and we had such a great time. I would suggest calling ahead if you are going to go with a bunch of people so they know to staff accordingly. Overall we had a very good experience with them and they are very easy to work with. I don’t drink alcohol except socially at home or at a friends, so it was a friend who I had to pick up that brought me there. Nice place. Amble seating, but the kitchen closes at 10pm, so I can’t speak about the food. My friend who I picked up said the bar lady is a sweetheart. At this point I really don’t know what else to say. I just didn’t want to not say something l. 😊😊😊

Dorrian’s is quite a nice restaurant with nice ambience. Food taste was average and little pricey . Food portion is good and service was much better and quick .

Consistently great food and the staff well they are awesome . If in that neighborhood you would be silly not to stop in. Oh and the drinks , yeah man . Thanks Dorrian's again!!!

A really nice and affordable place !!

I have not dined here because they are CLOSED on Sundays but Google Maps says they’re open until 2am. EDIT Sat at the bar for food and drinks on a Friday night. The service was good. The food was decent but overpriced. Their Peroni on draft was disgusting! It had a vinegar-like off-taste. I did try a different draft beer and it tasted just fine, which lead me to believe that they got dirty, bacteria-infested tap lines. You got to clean your tap lines!
