I would rate this a 3 currently. I have been coming here for years and back in the day it was AMAZING and was definitely a 4.5 in the old days. Over the past two years the taste of their food has steadily declined. What is crazy is I used to live 1.5 hours away and we would all hop in the car to excitedly to come here back in the day. I have now moved 2 blocks away and I am never really wowed anymore, so I find myself coming here less and less. Pros: very clean and well run, efficiently served, good value, decent food Cons: not tasty like it used to be (maybe a change in chef?), overtly spicy even for me and I actually like a little kick, greatly reduced menu size/limited options I think if they could find that early magic or food techniques they used in the past then they would be a hit again.

Shadman is my favorite to go spot in downtown jersey city and I love their food but my two recent visits have been a disappointment. The food was amazing as always but something was very wrong with their rice. I have never had an experience like this before. On one occasion the rice was burned and the next time the rice looked weird as it was all stuck together in chunks. Please guys look into this as I LOVE your food and it makes me sad to leave such a review.

I think 4 stars is spot on what this place deserves. The prices are very fair and I appreciate that they use real spices and do not tone it down to be American - Indian. That being said, this is very much a buffet type of food place, not fresh made to order and you can taste that. Still for a buffet this is great quality and nice service.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of ordering from Shadman, and I must say that it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. Not only was my order never made, but the restaurant also shamelessly refused to refund me the money for the nonexistent meal. I am appalled by the lack of professionalism and basic customer service exhibited by this establishment. The order was cancelled in the app 5 minutes in due to a technical glitch. Instead of calling me or letting me pick up the food myself, they decided to charge me for the food that was never delivered (and I suspect never prepared in the first place). Despite their failure to fulfill my order, the most distressing part of this ordeal was the restaurant's response when I requested a refund. It is common sense and a fundamental principle of any service-oriented business to refund customers when a mistake has been made, but Shadman seemed to disregard this basic principle entirely. The management was uncooperative, unapologetic, and shockingly rude. They blatantly refused to acknowledge their mistake or take any responsibility for the inconvenience they caused. Not only was I left hungry and dissatisfied, but I also had to pay for a meal I never received. It is absolutely unacceptable for any business, let alone a restaurant, to take money from its customers without providing the promised service. Save yourself the disappointment and frustration by avoiding this restaurant.

After numerous unsuccessful attempts at finding delicious North Indian / Mughlai / Pakistani food in Jersey City, we are glad that we finally found Shadman. Dining here has restored our faith in Jersey City's ability to serve quality desi food. We tried the Bihari Tikka (extremely tasty and full of flavor), the Chapli Kebab (delicious, perfect if you have low tolerance for spice), the Chicken Biryani (the chicken pieces were perfectly marinated and the rice was flavorful with great aroma). We also tried the Chai (very well made but a tad more milky than I'm used to) and the Gulab Jamun (very soft and delectable, but could have been more warm). All in all, we are very excited to have found our go-to for Kebabs, Tikkas, and Chicken Biryani in Jersey City. Looking forward to returning and trying more dishes on the menu. Highly recommend!

Awful food, rubbish service, and zero interest in the customers. I am amazed that this is any good reviews at all. We spent about $60 on a takeout, and the food was way below average! There is a market in Jersey City for someone to come in and set up a brilliant Indian restaurant, that serves authentic food, with love and passion!

Still one of the best places to get good Desi food. I tried their combo platter recently (rice + 2 sides). Very good quality and portion size. Their workers are very nice and respectful.

Went for dinner since we were in the neighborhood. The service was excellent. The Achaea chicken and goat curry were cooked to perfection. The basmati rice was long grain and flavorful. I also recommend the lassi and the dessert since the balance of sweetness is perfect and not overly sweet.

Shadman is a culinary gem! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel like a valued guest. The Vegetable Platter was a great choice, and I paired it with the delectable Chicken Kebab Roll. The soft naan wrapped around the succulent kebab was a match made in heaven. The restaurant's ambiance was relaxing, and the background songs set the mood perfectly. Not to mention, the place was sparkling clean! The attentive staff made sure I had a fantastic dining experience, and I can't wait to come back for more mouthwatering dishes at Shadman!

Been a customer here for almost 12 years. The keema naans are SO GOOD! The price on the other hand, is very unreasonable. I mean $10 for ONE naan? There's no good excuse for that even if you use the pandemic because at other restaurants keema naans are 1 for $3. The way kebabs are packaged is horrible. The box is stapled. Now what if the staple gets inside the food? A new thing I noticed is that the kebabs also have a weird sort of pungent smell like they've been stored in a musty closet for years and reheated. Everything else is good. One suggestion: a membership/points program. so returning customers can get a discount.

Be prepared for kid sized portions! I paid $15 for a garlic roti and a chicken tikka masala. Sounds pretty standard, but I did not expect the portion to be half a pint and it doesn’t even come with rice or any other extras! Flavor wise, it was good. But come on, this is so little food!

I wanted to visit this place since long and it didnt disappoint. The chicken was very soft and the naan was also different. Loved the sasame taste with naan.

I used to love this restaurant before the pandemic and came here for lunch all the time. It was one of the only Indian restaurants in the area with a lunch buffet other than Kashmir Grill in Bayonne which had closed. However, now that the pandemic has ended, they suddenly no longer offer their lunch buffet. I have no idea why, but I certainly won’t be coming back.

A wonderful dining experience at Shadman! The friendly and attentive staff truly made me feel at home. I couldn't resist trying the Chicken Biryani, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant's cleanliness and pleasant decor add to the overall charm. Highly recommended!

Best desi food tried so far in New Jersey area. It's spicy and makes you wanna eat more even when you're full. Naan is freshly baked and for the first time eaters, since the cooked food is displayed in the glass shelves, they also get to see how the food looks like even before ordering the food.

I had a fantastic experience dining at Shadman! The food was excellent, with a wide range of delicious options to choose from. The ambience added to the overall enjoyment of the meal, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. I also had the pleasure of chatting with the owner, who turned out to be a very friendly guy. His warm hospitality made the experience even more memorable. Overall, I highly recommend Shadman for a delightful dining experience. It's a place where great food, a pleasant atmosphere, and friendly staff come together to create a perfect time.

Searched in Google and visited this place. It's not worth the hype. The choose and buy option saves food wastage but doesn't fulfill any hunger. They have few options to. House from but the quantity they give for the price they collect is not worthy at all. We spent $30, and it didn't even fill 1 persons hunger. One of the guy working there was scared to talk to customers or answer their questions. May be a new employee. Anyway, overall, I do not recommend it if you want to enjoy a good, fulfilling meal. Yes, u can go and eat if u just want to taste a few pieces of kabab as a snack or samosa chaat, which was not too good but is ok. Parking is an issue again.

Overall nice place to get quick Indian lunch with some variety of chicken and stuff. Clean and precisely served in boxed plate. I’ve been here several times back in 2016-20 but place have changed a lot. More clean (positive) Pricey than before. Quantity reduced. Taste - same as before

My father always used to bring me this food since I was little chicken kabob with naan but now I am older I wanted to experience it once again . The staff did not seem interested in customer I asked the guy about the different curries and he would suggest with the curry he tried to brush my off (the one with the glasses) in the front . So I order few naans and kabobs and I asked him can I have the green sauce he said it comes with it . When I come home the green sauce is not in the bag which is disappointing that’s why I asked in the beginning. It’s sad I’ve been eating here since I was a kid and they can’t even get the food right or help you out . I visited here in 3/10/23 . It’s not the cooks it’s not the owner it’s just simply the workers in the front . Pls fix that

Our experience at this lively and charming Pakistani hole-in-the-wall was the cherry on top of my family’s trip to NYC/Jersey City. Our people (desi) tend to be quite introverted, but our friendly and warm server, Charita, helped us feel right at home from the beginning to the end - sharing fun tidbits, and recommending us the tasty Gajar ka halwa as her personal favorite dessert at the end. I wish every server at every restaurant had her energy and zest for people. Among the four people of our party, not even one disagreed with the fact that each and every item was made to perfection. From the Chappali Kabob, to the Karahi, to the kheer which transported my mother back to memories of getting kheer on Bans Road in Karachi every Friday after Jumuah, we had a very lovely and memorable experience.

If I could give 0 I would. Food is awful and to boot ice cold when I called to complain they admit they prepare these homeless feeding style platters earlier in the day. Trust me there is no way this was cooked fresh today. Have literally thrown out the whole order. Should have got Karma Cafe their food is top notch. My bad for wanting food quicker. Yop tip you can tell by the smell if ot is fresh. Ugh, never again.

I've been recently obsessed with spicy foods- I'm Guatemalan and my mom ate plenty of spicy food while I was in the womb so blame her! haha, I really have such an appreciation for this amazing Pakistani & Indian cuisine. If I'm not mistaken they're still offering buffet style for a few hours each day! If you're in downtown, jersey city check this delish place out! Don't get the NANN

Their highlight is the huge parathas. The food is great. The vibe is very casual.

This is the best Indian/Pakistani cuisine I have ever had, personally, and I’m a big fan of that food. The prices are very fair for the quantity and quality that you get, the service is always good, the staff is friendly and I think it’s a hidden gem of Jersey City, and in general the tristate area. The only downfall is that I can’t have this food every day since they don’t deliver to Bayonne. LOL - thank you for always providing me with delicious food!

🍴 FOOD [3/5]: Food was alright, not the best option if you want good Pakistani cuisine. It is served semi-buffet style: you order at the front and they ship out the dishes from their hot bar. The short trip to Journal Square's "Little India" is worth it. The achari chicken was good but the other dishes we ordered (palak paneer, chicken Tikka curry, chicken karahi, samosa) could be better - the chicken meat had more cartilage than expected. The naan was very good though! 🧑‍💼 SERVICE [3/5]: Service was fine and the staff was helpful in answering any questions we had. I took off a couple stars because they started cleaning up well before closing and were continuously looking at our table as if we were overstaying our welcome. 🪩 VIBE [2/5]: Very plain atmosphere, food is served in to-go boxes - not great for aesthetics or for the environment. Unfortunately I can't say the flavor makes up for the lack of overall dining experience.

Delicious food and friendly service. Tastes fresh, homemade style. Perfectly spiced. Would definitely return and try other dishes. The chicken jalfrezi was amazing!

Please avoid this place at all cost. Bad customer service, not very accommodating, food is over priced compared to other desi restaurants, parking is a nightmare and the owners act like they are doing you a favor for buying their food. Doesn't matter how much money you spend the owners always have nasty attitude and never happy. They lost a very good customer forever not that these people really care. I wish I can give them negative stars.

I've been going to this restaurant for the past 10 years. The only thing changed at this restaurant are the prices. Ridiculously overpriced. Food is never fresh, and they expect us to pay more than asked. Charging sepearte for the sauce and salad. Like if i buy something they would not put any.sauce untill u pay double. I would give 0 stars if I can, definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone. Waste of time and money. I will never go again HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED

We ordered this food on Grubhub and it was so damn good that I had to come here to review the restaurant. We ordered chicken tikka masala (my fav), goat curry, naan, Chana masala and samosas. Okay - after typing that all out I feel fat 😂. It took us (me and my GF) two sittings to demolish it, and we were stuffed each time. We couldn’t stop eating because it was so good. My favorite was the chicken tikka and the naan.

The chicken kebabs at Shadman are one of a kind. I usually get them every week. It doesn’t go bad that quickly either. The place is very colorful and nice too.

Date - 2 May, 2022 Order - Goat biryani, chicken curry, Goat nihari, kheer and Beef kabob I really like all the items I tried hear except the Goat nihari. Order a take out pickup, waiting time is around 15 min which is not that bad. I would like to go again and recommend.

I ordered to eat inside the restaurant a platter with chicken briyani with two curry sides. I wasn't enjoying the chicken, not fresh tasting dark Meat, the two side curry was absolutely cold. I explained to the worker that my food is Cold, she offered to warm it up in the microwave. I told her I do not place my food In the microwave, I said nevermind. I did not enjoy my food experience at all here.

I found this place by chance without knowing anything about their food quality and taste. I ordered chicken tikka masala and plain nan, After first bite I realize how taste was so good, feel so lucky that I find this gem. Delicious food, chef is so talented, This is one of the most delicious Pakistani &Indian restaurant in the area so far. If I go to Jersey City definitely I will create some time to eat there again. Thank you.
