Been craving a nice deli since moving from Philly but haven’t had any luck. It is a cash only spot but the sandwiches there are simple, delicious and pretty affordable. The service was quick and the bread was nice and soft. I would recommend and definitely will be returning.

I am unapologetic for what I'm about to say. Unfortunately, I had bad experiences at this Deli because of the meat cutter(butcher) insensitive, rude, and bias comment. However, I order from the Meat Cutter ½ sandwiches for someone and also myself. Next the lady who prepare the sandwiches kindly ask what's my desire toppings and I happily responded extra mayonnaise and ect. Then Meat Cutter(Butcher) stop what he was doing and rudely said; "That is so unhealthy" and I responded are you paying for this? No, I am! Yet, he didn't respond and took the next customer. Whereas, the next customer was a young caucasian (white women) who order was similar to mind but order extra cheddar cheese on both sandwiches. I didn't once here him say unhealthy and a rude comment to her and I was upset Eventhough, I was embarrassed, in a state of shock, and felt uncomfortable I waited patiently to pay while I was pray. Yet my grandchild cheerful little voice asking for chips put a smile on my face but I said no we get them elsewhere. So with all that being said, I wasn't going to let know insensitive, rude and bias remarks still my joy and for now on I won't be purchasing here.

The Sandwiches usually are delicious, but the man who cuts the meat sometimes has snide comments toward people when they make specifications on how they want their sandwiches. Comes off as judgemental and very unprofessional!

Despite the reviews and friends' first hand experiences, I was not in any way prepared for the sheer amount of meat on the Our Hero (#10 sub). I'm pretty sure I've paid more for less deli meat at the grocery. The weight/density of this thing was shocking. That aside the bread was great, tastes and textures all lovely. My roommate who did the pickup said the staff was great, no issues. I'm looking forward to trying the hot pastrami!!

I can't believe I just found out about this hidden gem . The sandwich was outstanding and fresh!!! I had the junior with roast beef and turkey soooo good!

Moved to JC from BK a few months ago. Honestly, the food in this area is just meh…I was grocery shopping next door and randomly stumbled across Our Hero. It’s kind of tucked in and hidden so it’s hard to spot. The smell of fresh bread was what made me stop in and I’m glad I did. Probably one of the best sandwich spots I’ve eaten in awhile. I ordered the Our Hero #10 and it was amazing. Place is cash only but you get so much value compared to the subway across the street. So glad I stumbled upon this place, I’ll definitely be a regular.

Amazing classic deli sandwich, this work of art cant be summed up in words it must be experienced. Come here for a master class in hero style sandwiches.

The sandwich I got from there today was so good that I looked it up on Google to write a review. I knew it was going to be good too just by how hefty the bag was. But in addition, I just cannot get over how lousy the sandwich chains are nowadays including them all. When I was a kid many, many years ago Blimpie was the bomb. Now only this place is the bomb!

My new favorite spot. I’m so glad places like this still exist. My favorite Hero shop in Chicago closed awhile back and this really brought me back.

I’ve lived in the area for almost 22 years and one of my fav go to delis. Always polite, kind, and sandwiches always on point! Fresh, and reasonable prices. I highly recommend the hot pastrami with provolone!

My daughter found this little sandwich shop living in JC while attending NYU. This place gave her so much joy while going through grad school. She took her twin brother and me to her favorite sandwich place. This place did NOT disappoint. The sub was just as I remembered NJ subs from my childhood to be, DELICIOUS. The kitchen area was clean (even the sneeze guard was immaculate) and well organized. The owner recognized my daughter and started on her order right away. I wish I could have gotten a sub for the road, but they are closed on Sunday. I will DEFINITELY make a return trip when I visit NJ again.

First off, the bread alone is a statement peace. So soft. I love their sandwiches and now so does my children. My go to sandwich shop! 10/10 recommend!

This is one of the best sub shops I have been in for years. Fresh cut meat for your sub. Soft bread made to perfection. Staff is warm,friendly as well as customer friendly. Don't drive by Our Hero without stopping. You will be sadly disappointed.

MUST VISIT. You can’t NOT have a hero from here. I eat here every week, my signature is turkey cheese and it always tastes the same. Absolutely love this place. A must visit in Jersey City.

This little place is a gem. I wish they had more toppings for the sandwiches, but the overall quality and service is great. Don't be turned off by their covid-inspired interior design.

Amazing subs, always fresh. I get a veggie sub with lettuce tomatoes onion Mayo and cheese, a half is still huge.
