This is René Magritte’s home in Jette, not to be confused with the the large Magritte museum in the centre of Brussels. As such, it’s a small and intimate place to visit and is focused on Magritte’s life. When we visited, we were the only people there. It’s an interesting place, with objects from Magritte’s life, his paintings (and replicas), and also includes a modern art exhibition in the neighbouring building. If you have mobility problems, this is not the place to visit as you need to climb up and down several narrow staircases.

A surprisingly interesting addition to the Magritte canon, and on top of that a 1+1 museum as you also have the chance to marvel at 20th century abstract art. You start your visit to René Magritte's House in the adjacent building, with the colourful collection of the Abstract Art museum which focuses on Belgian artists and then you enter the Magritte house. Beside the interesting memorabilia and some original art you will get the chance to see the reproduced copies of Magritte paintings that were destroyed in the past in various instances, most famously during a bombing in London in 1940. The museum is easily accessible by Tram line 93 from the centre of Brussels.

Two locations of Rene Magritte museums, one is part of the loyal art museum and one is his house. The house presents more original scenes and inspiration of his works, especially the neighborhood. But most works are shown at the art museum where his lifetime is shwon chronologically alongside his works.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 The Magritte Museum in Bruxelles is an enchanting masterpiece! From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the incredible collection of surreal art. The exhibits offer deep insights into René Magritte's life and creative process. As a personal highlight, "L'Empire des lumières" left me in awe with its mysterious ambiance and captivating symbolism. The way Magritte played with light and darkness in the painting is truly mesmerizing. A must-visit museum for art enthusiasts! 🎨🏛️

This is a one of a kind unique museum that is well preserved and it was the home of Rene Magritte along with his wife .Ticket was just 10 Euros and the people who work there all spoke perfect English and were very friendly.

(Translated by Google) The museum for abstract art, the M.A.K. / M.A.A., in Jette, Esseghemstraat 135, is an absolute must! The Belgian museums fail to show the Belgian abstract art of the first and second generation, from 1914 to 1975. This is corrected here. Top works that have been brought together by André Garitte with great diligence and excellent taste. In a carefully renovated building that is attached to the Magritte House. (Original) Het museum voor abstracte kunst, het M.A.K. / M.A.A., te Jette, Esseghemstraat 135, is een absolute aanrader !

(Translated by Google) You do not believe that Belgian surrealism was born here If you want to know Magritte, you must have been here. Magritte rented the ground floor of a terraced house in Jette. The curator has succeeded in decorating the house, usually with the original furniture, as it was when he painted his greatest works there. you do not believe that Magritte painted his best and most famous works in this petty-bourgeois milieu The house is supplemented with the first museum for abstract art in Belgium. Current time: 14:37. Website, flyer and door all day it opens at 14h. Called and the man said it will be open at 14:30 (clearly unaware of the time even though we told him it was past that). Not impressed with way we were blown off. Not very professional. Normally would not have cared so much but when it is raining and cold and the restaurants around are closed until dinner time, makes the journey a waste of time. Will update if/when they decide to open for the day

A small museum which is rather a private collection of erotic artifacts (statues, antique sex toys etc). Sure it cannot compete with the sex museums of Amsterdam, but can be amusing if you have nothing to do. Entry fee is 10 eur per person, which we've found somewhat pricey for what you get.

Musée René Magritte, Brussels: A Whimsical Journey Through Surrealism for All Ages Located in the heart of Brussels, the Musée René Magritte is a shrine to one of the most influential figures in the surrealist movement. For children, the museum is a wonderland of whimsy and imagination, sparking their curiosity and creativity. One of the museum's notable strengths lies in its ability to convey the inspirations and thought processes behind Magritte's works.

I love this little museum. The other museum, in the center of town is great to see a lot of real works, but this museum, the former house of Magritte, still has the atmosphere of it's former owner, and his wife, in it. (Translated by Google) Museum surprising and nice! The owner does not hesitate to make some comments. A nice part .... of fun (it depends on who accompanies you). However a bit expensive considering the smallness of the place .... but no regret!

(Translated by Google) Museum a little small for the price, but surely the most original that I could visit in my life! The mixture of male and female anatomy related to the art of painting, sculpture and decoration The welcome is warm, people do not hesitate to discuss with you to ask your impressions on the museum, interested in where you come from etc .... Is done in 30 minutes so fast, 1h if you play the game (Original) Musée un peu petit pour le prix , mais sûrement le plus original que j'ai pu visiter dans ma vie ! We loved this. Abstract art was great and Magritte's house is just surreal. The tram journey to get there is part of the experience.

No original artwork of Magritte in the museum and first 30 min. of the tour is not related to Magritte but to Belgian artists from the same period. If you are very Magritte-oriented, it can be quite the disappointment.

Nice, small museum in Magritte's former home. It showcases his life and features recreations of some of his artwork that was lost in WWII. A good complement to the Magritte Museum downtown. The Museum of Abstract Art next door is small but has a nice selection, though Magritte's style is more my type.

It was okay, but they didn’t have a lot. I was expecting a full-on museum, but I suppose it was my mistake to go without researching first. All in all a cool experience, just don’t go expecting much

Very interesting to be able to see so many of his work in one place. I love Magritte and it is a must to visit whilst in Brussels if you do!

When we want to enter René Magritte room apart from the exhibition rooms, we have to wear galoches. However, the administration keeps dirty galoches beside the door to make the visitors wear them in the entrance of this part.

Interesting exhibition about abstract art . Nice paintings of Renée Demeester, interesting discovery. Overview is the lost paintings of Magritte and a lot of personal objects. It feels great to walk through the rooms he used to live in. Very friendly and enthousiast staff.

Although the exhibition has been rehoused during restoration work the exhibition we felt was surprisingly large, we imagined a smaller collection. As a first time visitor to Brussels entering through the classical architecture of the gallery with its large-scale paintings was impressive. The exhibition is set our with a chronology of significant moments of his life at the beginning, and progresses through the stages of his artistic influences an development. The exhibition appears small initially but one gallery leads on to another gallery space, and there are many accomplished Surrealist pieces, which are impressive to be able to view close up. Definitely worth a visit.
