Well curated museum and lots of information as long as you get a guide. Without a guide you're just looking at the eye candy. It's in the middle of nowhere if you are staying in downtown Shanghai so it may be a trek. If you love cars though, it's worth a visit. Although imyou may have seen all these cars before with the exception of the China specific cars.

Car museum located in the Anting Shanghai International Auto City area. Definitely a must see if you are interested in cars especially classic cars. 60 RMB for an adult ticket. Open Tuesday-Sunday 9:30am to 4:30pm. Closed earlier in the day than expected so take note to get there earlier. I easily spent over 3 hours browsing the 3 floors of cars and information. First floor has the history of the automobile from the wheel to the first diesel engine, auto transmission, and assembly line. Lots of cool stuff to see. Next floor has a history of the automobile in China. 3rd floor is comprised of antique classic car collections and an extended range of miniature car models. On the top level there is a learning and discovering area for children and adults which teaches you about how cars work and the parts of the car (engine combustion cycle, transmission, suspension, steering, etc.) All of the children's stuff is in Chinese however. Also F1 racing simulators on this level. There is a gift shop by the entrance that sales lots of miniature car models. Great if you can occupy yourself, not many guide options and only restroom I saw was on the top floor. Definitely check it out for the classic cars alone.

One of the best example of automotive history I’ve been to. A fantastic blend of history of the car in China evolved as well as many international examples. Well worth the visit.

Visited in February 22, on a Sunday. Started to get busy in the afternoon, but quiet in the morning. The museum shows great samples well preserved historical cars from different countries. It is definitely worth a visit if you like history of transportation. You also get a glimpse of what Shanghai looked 100 years ago for transport , roads and traffic.

Yes Jag E type here. Yes Mazda cosmo here. And certainly yes, our favourite, good old VW type 1. And that is it. If you are expecting something more, such as a Toyota 2000? No. Skyline? No. Bubble cars? Two, or 1.5 since one of them doesn't really "bubble" . Classic mini? There is a Cooper though... Minor brands literally disappeared. The only survived Japanese brands were Toyota, Mazda and Honda, Nissan somehow made it outside but that doesn't really count. So Subarists, Suzuki believers and Mitsubishi lovers (well, that's me), leave and don't waste your time here. There are, some modern arts about the parts of the car. But if you want to see so, the yokohama Nissan gallery opens a GTR for you. You can see it clearly and closely. BTW, no GTRs in the museum. There are some old pictures for wasting time and space, and old fashioned non-car-related items, but only a few cars. There are some hongqis, the Chinese luxury cars for politicians. You probably can't see them elsewhere but they are basically copycats of the soviet luxury cars.

(Translated by Google) About 20 minutes walk from Shanghai Automobile Castle Station on the subway. The automobile culture in China was unknown, so it was a great learning experience. The station two stations before has the Shanghai Circuit, the surrounding area has automobile research facilities, and the city around the station was a model town in the era of autonomous driving. However, as of June 2018, when I visited there, there were few residents in the house, so it looked like a brand new ghost town. The museum itself is very rich and satisfying. It is another educational destination in Shanghai. The museum has 11 different sections embrace different fields of sciences including natural wild life, earth history, health, environment, technologies, space and others It also has 4 theaters (IMAX Theatre and Domes) with different shows at different timings. If you are interested, you may check with show ticket counters the details of today's shows. We had a chance to attend a show at the IMAX Dome and it was really interesting. Name of the show was "Journey to the South Pacific" Underground metro is the best way to get to the museum. The station named with Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station. PS: you will get distracted once you get to this station since the station is a huge shopping spot. The timing of the museum is from 9am till 5pm. It is closed in Mondays. Admission is around 10 USD

Many classic and golden era cars, few modern. If you like cars then it worthy to travel to the other side of Shanghai to see.

Good storytelling from the birth of the car to the modern ones. They have a lot of old cars and a bit fewer really new cars. The area is a bit remote. The overall impression is very good, it's a must for car enthusiasts!

I really enjoyed this museum but make sure you give yourself some time to get there! The metro station is Shanghai automobile center stop but you will have to take a didi Chinese Uber or a taxi because the walk may be a bit too much of it is a day like yesterday where it was more than 35 degrees. Be prepare that there will be many kids ! we are still in this Covid-19 period do you will be better off to buy the tickets ahead ask a booking online and show your green code too! It was fun and entertaining because my friend loves cars!

Outside of museum is with ample space, can book tickets online also. Direct exit from subway station. Close to the museum, there's a big shopping area. Prices are bit higher than normal, but always need to bargain. It's fun to shopping there...but do not buy unless you accept the price is right.

If you like the technology and scientist, this place is good for you. Better come to this place with your children coz it was fun with them. They can learn scientist on this place. The most museum i like was the zoology section. I like the animal zone from around the world and the tropical forest.

This is like the Explorium for Shanghai. A great place to learning some knowledge for old and young. We browsed each hall and were amazed by the display. Our favourite was the automation/robot section. The interaction are well designed. There are heaps of school students visiting too. Some of the items need some maintenance.

This place is absolutely great. Definitely a landmark to visit on a school field trip. It is very educational and provides many resources for those that want to learn about science and technology. So many convenient things as well. Not to mention the portable charging stations all around. Come and check it out. It will not disappoint.

What an amazing few hours I spent at this Museum. It is beautifully designed and the displays are very nicely spaced out and presented. Nearly all the cars are labelled in Chinese and English, with enough information about the display. Don’t forget to get an audio guide, which requires a deposit. They never told me about it, so you need to ask. The numbered displays have a 1 to 2 minute commentary about them. Well worth it. Note that you need 4 digits for the machine, so add enough zero’s in the front, to complete the number. It took me a while to work it out. The staff are most helpful and have a fair bit of English. I also loved all the interactive opportunities on the top floor. You definitely need a 2/3 hours to do the place justice. There is a MacDonalds near the museum and a tiny restaurant inside. The only issue - it’s far from the centre of town. If using the Metro, take line 11 and get off at Anting station. It’s a fair walk from there, or just take a Didi. Note that Anting New Town is very close by and is a German styled area - worth a look if you are there.

The museum has both wildlife and science but not much on technology though. Bio-technology seems to be quite advance with different displays. Animals from different parts of the world look real. A rat with human ear is something that is amazing. Most of signs and explanation have English translation. Several learning equipment are not really functioned but kid can still enjoys It.
