An indigenous community owns/maintains some property containing a museum and natural sulfur spring. $5 to enter, which IMO is a bit overpriced. Museum is small but interesting, featuring objects found onsite from various periods. A highlight (for some) is the sulfur spring, purported to be healthful. I passed on that one, but my friends took a dip and seemed to enjoy it.

Interesting, and I must say highly unusual museum. Gives you a glimpse of the past in a .... well ..... highly unusual fashion. Still it's very well worth a visit. Will broaden your horizon .... to say the least.

A small community with about 300 people with an impressive history and a small but fascinating museum. Well worth a visit. There is a Spanish speaking guide who will take you through the rural community where you will see native plants, the lifestyle of the village and an opportunity to I soak in the black sulphur springs. The museum has an amazing collection of artifacts including burial urns complete with human skeletons, pottery, jewelry and many other fascinating things that were found in this important archaeological site. You can buy palo santo oil, jewelry and spondylus shells from the ladies at the museum.

Very interesting history about this rich community. It is called Agua Blanca because the sulphur pool in the morning is white; by afternoon after all the swimmers it is black. We also enjoyed a delicious vegetarian meal made special for us.

Definitely a unique place. The museum is small and there is not a whole lot in terms of artifacts but the things there are interesting. The hike is pretty easy and there is a spectacular view along the way. The spring though is definitely unique. I highly recommend putting the mud on and getting in.

Very interesting community. One of the rare historical sites to visit in the region. Very nice people, well organised and clean. The restaurant in front of the museum is also very good Ecuadorian food. Don't hesitate to jump into the sulfur pool!

👍👍 Amazing thermal water just a few miles away from the ocean, in the middle of a native community village. The entrance fee is $5 per person. The local archeology museum is included. And, don't forget to try their local dish "seco de chivo"; it was very good.
