Cannot recommend this hotel enough. The rooms are beautiful, all with private balconies overlooking the city. The bathrooms are huge, the beds are very comfortable. The food was great - we had both breakfast and dinner there. They have a nice gym and a beautiful spa with great massages. Would highly recommend this Four Seasons, and hope to come back!

Returning customer over decades. The current Four Seasons flag improved the restaurant and other public spaces. The elevator is a real plus. I miss the old Polo Club thing but the more modern finishes serve the property well. Breakfast was a little less impressive than under other operators. But that is hardly worth noticing when you have a new skyline bar to enjoy.

I went to Flames Restaurant at The Westcliff for my birthday. I’d made my original booking 5 weeks prior to my birthday hence was shocked on the morning of my birthday when I phoned to check the time of my booking and they couldn’t find anything. I had to make a new booking. It got progressively worse when I actually arrived at the venue and only high tables were available. They don’t tell you when you make your booking that there’s a combination of normal and high tables. For a restaurant that offers fine dining and promotes booking, you’d at least expect a disclaimer that no seating is reserved and you might end up at a high table, which is not ideal if you’re dining with the elderly or with kids. The final nail came when they got my order wrong: I was promised salmon and was delivered seabass instead. I was too tired to remind the waitress of my order and didn’t want anymore negativity to ruin my birthday. Parking at The Westcliff is also not the best experience. You park fairly far, then need to walk about 200m on paved cobblestone to get to a golf cart that will take you to the restaurant. I’m not sure that happens on rainy days, especially when we’re in high heels therefore this is definitely an area of development for the hotel, especially compared to its counterparts like Oyster Box. My first experience at The Westcliff and Flames Restaurant specifically, was therefore not that pleasant. That said, it’s a beautiful venue with stunning views and I would definitely give it another shot. The wine options are great. The food is also fairly well prepared. The ablutions are well looked-after. The views are serene and worth the drive. Take a chance - review your expectations and just enjoy the grandeur and exclusivity of the location.

I am not sure, in what oder who to blame!#@! We had fantastic room, aber toilet flush was to drip. Add in, my little one who hears it and not sleeping! Next morning, jaw dropping view of Johannesburg, aber no proper table management, so missed on it. It's rare property, and location for sure, but service must be lot improved.

I have been to many 3, 4 and 5 star hotels. This is at best a 3 star experience. The food is not up to standard, as in you will get served salad without the salad dressing, while your steak/fish is served charred instead of medium rare all the while having barely any flavor. The hotel rooms, which are very dull for their price range, not to mention the amount of thievery we experience at our event was disappointing. I'm talking two stolen phones and cash from a purse. This was absolutely not on par with the 5 star experience that one should supposedly be receiving at this venue. Normally you would think that catering to so many customers and hosting so many events would enable them to get accustomed or learn how how certain things should be done and presented. How can you claim to be able to cater and serve for large event every weekend and yet didn't not have enough on members ofstaff available for our event. Clearly something went deeply wrong which is funny since you charged almost double the amount of drinks that where actually ordered by the guests attended the event. It's how some other small things that should go noticed.... Their international counterparts are much better and atleast know how to trim the flower arrangements properly to prevent them from being burnt by candlelight. The flower arrangements should not be oversized and flowers should be arranged with care and not haphazardly cut with stems of drastic nonsensical lengths. Table arrangements should also allow you to see guests from the other end of an over stylized table. The tables provided clearly do not have enough seating space for its compliment of people (better squash em in). The table legs also got in the way of people who where left sitting at the corners of said tables, and they where left feeling somewhat uncomfortable. Please also be aware that their party venues aren't big enough to accommodate many guests and some will be seated on tables outside of the venue/hall in the corridor (aka the exclusion zone), the entire party hall also gets really hot (I am not kidding), while the air conditioning they have cannot properly accommodate the venue so don't use much makeup or excessive clothing. This specific 4 seasons has a great view, which is enjoyable to look at and the staff are friendly but that's about it.

Absolutely stunning! From the room, to the restaurant with the view and the spa, we spent an amazing couple of days. I had mentioned we were celebrating a birthday and the staff managed to decorate the room to create a magical moment.

My husband says 4 star but I would say 3 stars. We only ate at the restaurant and I am being very critical. At the best I am not fond of meat and when I order it as to be exceptional. We ordered the rib eye and it was cold and tough. The asparagus salad was absolutely perfect and the side spinach was delicious. For the rest it was average. For the extra price tag expectations was a lot higher than what was delivered.

My girlfriend, her family, and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Four Seasons Westcliff in Johannesburg for eight glorious nights, and I can confidently say this has been one of our most unforgettable experiences. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and hospitality of the staff were truly second to none. Every need was anticipated, and their dedication to service truly made our stay exceptional. The rooms were impeccably decorated, marrying local charm with modern luxury. Spacious, clean, and comfortable, they provided the perfect sanctuary after long days of exploration. The attention to detail was noticeable, from the beautifully arranged amenities to the breathtaking views over Johannesburg's lush landscapes. On-site dining was simply sensational. Whether it was the hearty breakfasts, delectable lunches, or sumptuous dinners, each meal was a culinary delight that showcased the best of South African cuisine. The chefs undoubtedly knew their craft, and every dish was a testament to their expertise. The hotel's location in the heart of Johannesburg meant we were ideally situated to enjoy the city's many attractions. Still, the Westcliff's tranquil setting made it feel like a serene getaway, a perfect blend of city and sanctuary. In all, our stay at the Four Seasons Westcliff was beyond compare. The hotel's unwavering commitment to excellence, combined with its unique charm and comfort, has left an indelible mark on our hearts. We highly recommend this beautiful gem to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in Johannesburg.

Great service as the staff are really friendly. But there was construction going on and my car was covered by dust by noon. We had a buffet in the garden and again very dusty. Food is good. Maybe will go again if the construction is done.

I loved this place! I went for a date ere as my partner has never been to 4 seasons and he absolutely loved it. It is so romantic and they serve nothing but elegance and class! Their service is top tier and they are kind towards everyone. It is such a beautiful venue. The view is spectacular. The food is not halaal but there are vegetarian options and they are great! The drinks are to die for especially the chai lattes! This place is perfect for couples!

The food, the service, the view has always been perfect for me. However I brought my brother and his wife over there for the first time and they loved it even more than me. And thanks to the waiter for offering me dessert to congratulate me for my graduation

This facility defines opulence, offering a great atmosphere for business and leisure travelers, with magnificent views, a great selection of food and drinks (alcoholic beverages are pricey!) and live entertainment sometimes. The service is much more better than many places visited around.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner at their restaurant, for a work do. Semi-private dining room, exquisite views. Unbelievable staff and service, food cooked to perfection. Very expensive, but so worth it.

From the get go, you will be amazed by the beauty of the architecture, the scenery of the area and the level of service you receive. I booked a table for myself and my fiancé in celebration of her birthday and we enjoyed every moment. The staff are well trained, friendly and you get the feeling that they want to treat you and make it a special evening. The table we had was spectacular with views of the hillside and a stunning sun set. The food is excellent! Really flavorsome and beautifully presented, every bite is literally a "mmmm" moment. Obviously, you pay for what you get so it is a more expensive evening out, but definitely worth every cent.

It was a nice stay. Great friendly staff. The rooms are showing their age a bit, but well maintained. The hotel wasn't really near anything, so we ended up just eating at the hotel. Nice views from the restaurant.

Great place to hangout. Has spectacular views of JHB NORTH. When making a reservation be specific about where you want to sit IE next to the fountain or the outside deck are great spots. Also, if you want to have full meals do not come between 3pm-6pm (sundowner hrs, just drinks and snacks). The service was great, they even gave me a bag hanger 🤗. Their cocktails are great but a little on the hefty side. Wine lovers are in for a treat, they have a wide selection of vintage wines.

An iconic hotel in Johannesburg, comprising blocks of suites and rooms on a hillside in the suburbs near the city zoo. Golf buggies are available to take you to/from your room if you can’t manage hills. Service is exceptional, the beds are the comfiest ever, and the bathrooms huge and luxurious. It has an on-site restaurant called Flames which is separately reviewed. Useful to know: there’s an ATM in the gift shop, and it’s about a 40 minutes drive from O R Tambo airport. Well recommended.

One of the best experience in my life. The service is outstanding and the facilities are perfect. The room are cleaned exactly when needed without the need to ask and the food is great. The best is the breakfast, I could come back from France just for this! Recommended to everyone who wants to feel something special.

A very beautiful experience overall. A bit of mishap in the room service kitchen communication but the people sent up to me where dedicated to correct whatever miscommunication or error had occurred. The restaurant brunch is quite a delicious meal as suitable for business casual as much as a family outing, delightful seeing the two worlds collide peacefully. There are go karts driven by staff around the property if you find yourself having to move around outside. It may not be the most accessible for disabled or wheelchair ridden individuals as some of the rooms around found in different properties which sometimes require stairs to access and they don’t also always have elevators. Aside from that they do seem to have a nice and pretty popular restaurant/lounge on the premises.

If you're looking for a truly international standard 5 star experience, then this is the place for you. I loved the entire experience from booking right through to checkout. The staff are well trained and the support through the app is seamless. The room, the food and the Spa experience...incredible! Thank you Four Seasons. Highly recommend!

Superb place. Perfect location. Quiet, safe, luxurious. Family pool was great, gym better than expected, rooms as expected. The view from the restaurant Flames is really awesome, especially for dinners, during and after sunset. Despite sending the hotel a heads-up, two e-mails, for a special diet (our young daughter has celiac), the staff were not too familiar with that concept. At other places, the chef and waiter knows how to handle this. Not here. They had no plan what so ever, so the only option she was offered was 'hamburger without the bun'. Would be great if they all had some training in different diets to accomodate the different needs from customers. That said, I filed a complaint on this and it was handled in the most perfect manner. She even had special cakes delivered at the door by the friendly staff. So altogether, our stay was awesome!

We recently had our wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel, The Westcliff. The service received from the staff was as exceptional as the venue itself. The new Director of Catering (Kevern Anandlal) was one of the most professional and passionate individuals I have met. The attention to detail and level of professionalism was outstanding. My guests have also commended his professionalism and thoughtfulness, during our wedding ceremony and reception. Thank you for the wonderful wedding memories.

For the amount you pay this place should wow a bit more. The setting is great but it has lost the comfortable hotel feel and resembles more an upmarket cafe vibe with even the music reflecting that. The food is good but way below standard for those prices and the quality of the staff and feel of the hosts and the place is not something I would associate with The Westcliff.

Flames restaurant is probably one of the best I have visited in Joburg! The food was absolutely delicious, the views, the drinks, the service. This place makes one forget they're in Joburg and I love that about it. Will definitely be coming back ❤️

I visited Flames restaurant atop the hotel for my girlfriend's birthday and was delighted by the outstanding food and impeccable service. We were seated near the infinity pool with a gorgeous view of Joburg, and I recommend arriving before sunset for the full effect. Truly memorable experience.

About as good as a property as you can find anywhere in the world. Both the restaurant and spa were incredible. Breakfast was superlative. The welcome gifts for our kids was a great choice. We would stay here again in a hot minute.

The room is super spacious and equipped, the bathroom could use update , cleanliness is not the level we expected. Welcome was outstanding they also had gifts for the little ones. Service is very slow , but friendly. Breakfast was incredible , the views were absolutely mind blowing, however lunch and dinner not up to standard , don’t bother with the Wagyu beef , not nearly as nice as in other places.

Excellent hotel. I don’t know Johannesburg much so can’t comment on the location. But the hotel is like a small village on a hill with plenty of small houses and the rooms are in those houses. You get driven up and down in a golf cart. The rooms and the “village” are like an island of tranquility. The staff were all fantastic. Really I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff. There were no rude staff and I met many. One of the biggest features of this hotel is how good the staff are. Will definitely come back here. Oh and the views are excellent. Sitting at the restaurant and enjoying the space was great.

My wife and I slept here for one night right before my baby was born; it was also my wife's birthday. The hotel's service is flawless; we didn't have to raise a finger. Breakfast was excellent, with one of the nicest views in Jhb. To commemorate the baby's and my wife's birthdays, the staff even brought goodies to the room. This was quite remarkable of them; it was one of the nicest experiences I've ever had, and the attention to detail was superb.

We were hosted there by an international company for a conference and it was amazing. The staff (Keith, Ntomby, Malesela) were all so friendly, helpful and paid attention to make sure we had everything we needed. Facility temperatures were well maintained and the catering was delicious.

I took my family for a vacation in Joburg, South Africa. Stayed at the Four Seasons. I have stayed at many hotels. This was by far the best hotel every. Every aspect of the hotel, service, friendliness, food, etc.. It is an amazing hotel. I have stayted at top hotels in New York City. This was much better in so many ways. This is truly a 5 star hotel. The staff, one for one, were so friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. The service was immediate and perfect. My whole family had a great time and this hotel made our vacation the best. By the way, their breakfast is phenomenal. What a way to start your day. But my favorite is how friendly and helpful the staff were. GREAT JOB TO FOUR SEASONS.

South Africa has below to average customer service in general, HOWEVER, Four seasons hotel and Flames restaurant has great service , the staff are very considerate and thoughtful, the actual Hotel and restaurant is definitely 5 star, and the view a real gem. Thank you for the wonderful service tonight. You really made my Birthday a memorable one🌷

As a wedding venue, they are limited to smaller numbers and dont allow dancing during covid. Also I'm not keen on driving in golf carts at breakneck speed. I found it a bit noisy as you can hear the cars on the main road in some parts of the venue. Many people would love it there, it has a certain beauty and charm, I just didnt fall in love with the place.

By far one of the worst hotels for the money. It was so expensive all the way around. The front desk staff was very nice other than that awful. The food is outrageously expensive and terrible. The rooms are dirty and so out dated. Paid for 3 days what I paid for three weeks at a Brand new Marriott. It was in a bad area. We stay at four seasons all around the world. Speechless to how bad this place was!!!!!! There was not a sole staying there. The spa and gym were dirty!!!!! This place should go out of business soon!!!!!!!!

The ambience is amazing and the staff is very helpful and cheerful, especially Lucky. The DJ and music added a very amazing vibe to it all. The food wasn't as great, but the pork belly was the best selection of it all. The cocktails are amazing and the complimentary champagne we got was a cherry on top. Will definitely come back. 😊😊

Attended the most amazing 21st celebration at the Cellar Door, Flames Restaurant! The view is outstanding, the staff are well trained and super attentive but the food, oh the food! Easily the best meal I've ever eaten. We had a four course set menu with two choices per course. Springbok carpaccio, truffle gnocchi, Norwegian salmon and a strawberries and cream dessert. The only disappointment was the biscuit/cake base at the bottom of my dessert, a bit tastless but that probably had to do with my overworked taste buds.

I booked the early weekend brunch this Saturday and the service at the restaurant was appalling. Only one waiter assigned to serve a table of more than twenty people turned out to be a disaster. The people I had invited were either begging for their starters to be served or begging for their drinks to be served. Almost two hours into the brunch and we still had not been served our mains. Some of the main course meals were not prepared as per the menu. After mains we waited 20 minutes for our beers. The waiter plonked the beers onto the table without beer glasses and without even opening up the bottles for us. How are we supposed to open a bottle of beer that isn’t a twist of cap. Seriously wonder why this place is rated so high, I’ve had 10 times better service at Wimpey. The food was delicious but I will be reluctant to book here again.

The place is beautiful, has great ambience, COVID-19 protocols are followed to the latter, but the food was below average for me, way less than what I expected, we had the brunch package, which was way overpriced.

Been there for my mother birthday, the staff was verry caring and gave us the best suite for this occasion. A true 5 star in every way.

Ate at Flames. Spectacular view! Food was well plated and had decent flavours. Catered for vegan on the set menu, which is always good. I had ordered a chicken dish but the chicken was so dry. Portions are perhaps too large , especially for a 3 course meal.

Four seasons is great. Is it expensive? Yes. Does it draw a Nouveau riche crowd? Sure does. But it‘s also a proper Four Seasons and the brunch on the terrace actually is a steal because for maybe just above R1000 (before champagne, for two) you can enjoy a relaxed 2-3 hours brunch while having the perfect views of Joburg. Just make sure you‘re seated outside.

This was my second visit, the first one was amazing, it brought me back. The service from the team was amazing, the food was great. I just witnessed very disappointing treatment of the staff by one of the managers, that for me is unacceptable. That was infront of guests, imagine behind closed doors.
