It's was relaxing, and stress free. It's a great place to bring your picnic baskets, dates, small family events, pictures etc. There are boat rides R20 for an hour, life jackets are offered. There are sports facilities, kids playgrounds, braai facilities, benches in designated areas, spread across the park. There are house like structures, open for public use, and there are multiple parking areas.

Where can you find a better place to enjoy a stroll on a Sunday morning - or even for a Myrun (2.5km or 5km). After the walk, enjoy the calmness of water birds swimming and flying over the lake. You can even enjoy a trip on a rowing boat!!

I literally come here to swim..sometimes I take a walk...the pool is in this classic style structure that takes you right out of the city and the pool is visited by a whole lot of eclectic guests. The park is great too if you don't go on the weekend when it's a huge party

We just did a walk around the lake. Paths are mostly in good condition, a lot of garbage in and around the lake. A lot of people were enjoying the boat rentals. A few noisy music boxes around but most people were respectful of the rules.

Clean, tranquil, and large with ample benches and seating if there on a weekday. Its nice to get lost in the view, watching the geese swim about and interact with each other. There are boat rides available, but the office to rent then out seems to be closed during the week. Its a nice space to have a picnic.

Park attendants were a little bit persuasive and uncomfortable to talk to. Otherwise it is a beautiful environment.

I had an amazing outing at Zoolake Park. I have been there many years ago, revisiting it a week ago made me feel even more excited. Enjoyed my walks, picnicking, playing on the green grass. This beautiful place brought immense memories of my past. My hilight was canoeing with my precious family, thou one has past on. But our special memories brought alot of Joy and comfort. I will recommend this place to everyone as we have such unforgettable ❤️ memorable experiences there. Our pics will tell you more. 🥰💯💥 Will definitely be back soon.

Such a relaxing place. However there website is incorrect. It says open 7 days a week. We went on a Monday. Could not do paddle boats. My kids were very disappointed. It was closed. Shops closed as well. Other than that it is very tranquil. Kids enjoyed kicking a ball around and it has beautiful surroundings. Will go back, hopefully they will be open. Lovely park with a decently sized lake to walk around and enjoy a little nature and space while in the middle of the city. Loads of park benches and pet friendly. Many residents of the surrounding neighbourhoods frequent this park and they are generally very friendly and helpful. One can rent a row boat at a reasonable price to cruise around the lake.

This is a great place to spend time time with your family or friends. The atmosphere is amazing, it's nice and huge so it can accommodate a lot of people without anyone feeling cramped. There's a way area for kids, exercise equipment, and a calming lake. Plus dont forget to bring some bread along to feed the geese and ducks

Zoo Lake is beautifully set in the heart of the out laying Johannessburg suburbs. It is very tranquil during the weekdays especially in the mid mornings. It's a great place to take a walk or a jog. On weekends it's very much busier with lots of people, young and old, going about thier activities, walking, picnicking, taking the four-legged children for an outing and enjoying the outdoors. There is a boathouse on the lake where one can rent boat rides, I will definitely do this next time I am there. There is a very large children's playground across the road kitted with every kind of jungle gym imaginable. Also on the grounds are may sporting facilities, notably several full size basketball courts. There are vendors selling ice-creams and snacks here and there. Zoo Lake is also a Heritage Site and is kept in very good condition by passionate folks. I am very fortunate to live close to Zoo Lake and I consider it a privilege to be a member of this remarkable suburb.

It was a mission to find parking and most of the car guards seemed drunk. After 20 minutes of going around in circles we parked at the zoo lake sports club parking. The park was filled with families and/or groups of people enjoying their pay day spoils. We went on a month end Saturday. The tickets for the canoe ride were relatively cheap at R20 per adult and R15 per child. They only take cash. We only got to know this when we paid. After paying and once we entered the canoe, the assistant demanded R50 in cash, this was unexpected. My kids were already in the canoe and the way the assistant asked for the cash wasn’t very pleasant. Long story short , we paid. The ride was not great. The person who paddled did not speak. The dam had an awful smell in some parts.

The Zoo Lake is a place you want to be to have a cool experience of nature. I enjoyed my time there. No wifi though, as I almost got stranded.

Always fun times. The basketball courts are some of the most well maintained public courts in the country. Tip, the Coach when you get there he takes care of that place.

Nice, but not for me. Scammers at the 'free' parking lots wanting R20 to park, first sign of a dodgy area. Most of the restaurants are closed, no entertainment during the day when we visited. The wild life of birds is amazing if thats what you like. I wont be going back, does not feel safe for me.

Amazing place for casual meet ups at a local dam (Zoo Lake) also a viable place for weddings or dates. Might also check this place out as a photographer for some garden photography.

Beautiful luscious green park with a beautiful lake to set the scene. Lots of shade from the big trees and plants. Perfect for hosting small intimate events like Baby showers, Kiddies parties, a light lunch and birthday celebrations. Not a lot of parking, so get there early to avoid parking on the streets. Take your family out for a chilled Sunday stroll, perfect for the whole family! Braai area available for those who want to bring some meat along.

Zoo lake gives you that nature experience at its best. The place is well maimtaned and you can as wel use their outdoor game facilities. Their is also a braai area for your enjoyment if you so desire.

Pretty scenery, trees, lost of joggers and people walking, the birds are amazing, geese and ducks very tame, there are active row boat rides. Park is not the cleanest due to people's disrespect, home to the homeless.

The park is spacious and lush, however, there are parts of it that have litter and could do with maintenance. Great for walks, picnics and for your four-legged friends to roam.

Loved it. We were lucky it wasn't so busy . The kids played and enjoyed by the playground. We got to have our workout by walking around the park, passing by the lake, saw beautiful ducks there, also passed by the bird sanctuary, beautiful scenery of nature.

Very friendly personal who was not only willing to assist but very informative about crocodiles and lions in general. Up close experience with crocodiles and lions, great food and drinks at reasonable prices, children enjoyed themselves and played freely. Friendly atmosphere had a live singer at no extra cost. Bought crocodile steak at a good price, will visit again...

Bowls is back! A great vibe and some good pizzas, beers are always cold. Can take a while to get your order through though. Be that as it may Zoo Lake has made a successful resurgence. Best place for beer with the boi's.

A really lovely large open park Families were having picnics on the grass or tables. People were braaiing at the braai areas. Kids were playing ball. There was a guy practicing his sax on a bench. People arrive with bread so their kids can feed the geese. You can hire a boat and go on the lake. Runners run. Dog walkers walk. We went before sunset

Nice place indeed, but the toilets were closed at past 4pm which made users of the park to defecate anywhere they seem fit. I think this toilet issue should be looked into, if they want the park to continue to exist in terms of cleanliness.

Tip is also already generated on the bill... Without your permission.

Beautiful but neglected. If you love ducks this is the place for you. A whole army of ducks and a beautiful lake. However the rest of the park looks quiet neglected particularly the children’s play area. A bit disappointing. Allot of the children’s fixtures are broken. The park doesn’t seem to accommodate children’s buggies. The parking attendants also seem a bit pushy. Good, but could be great.

The only problem is the security guards that put up their prices of security parking when you arrive , it's not a problem they are trying but now to make it compulsory for you to pay in a public park it's a problem

It's always awesome going to Zoo Lake. The atmosphere was great. I mostly appreciate the cleanliness of the garden and the dam. The braai area is always maintained okay however they need to improve on their ablution facilities esp the females.
