The food was lovely! We tried their eggs Benedict & an open chicken sandwich with some mimosas on the side. The downside is that the place is quite small and gets packed quickly & you aren’t able to make reservations prior.

If you are looking for a laid back Sunday afternoon with mouth watering food then this is the place for you . Food was delicious and something new. The prawn omelet was making its way down my throat within minutes of the waiter putting it on the table. Chai latte was mesmerizing! And the shortbread biscuit is worth every calorie. Enjoyed it thoroughly 👌

So there is alot of hype for Whippet and it's noted as one of the best breakfast joints in JHB, however the service is very bad. They more worried about how many customers they can squeeze into the venue than accommodating the customer. Also once you order you old news no one cares to come and see you. Food is nice, but I won't really go back because of service and that customers are just a pay day. Waiters are rude , don't greet when you walk in.

This place was a breath of fresh air, I would definitely consider it a gem of joburg. Eat for 2 @ R400; I would’ve rated it higher but our waitress kept asking us if we were done when we clearly still had food and drinks flowing. We also had to wait 20 minutes for a table, so I recommend booking a table in advance. Luckily we were in the mood for a walk that day and they called us back soon enough 😊 Overall, I would definitely go again, loved the vibe and the ambiance, and of course the food was good and I’d like to try more from the menu 🌻 I ordered the Eggs Bennedict with Avocado (R92) and added some halloumi (R23). It was exactly what I expected and the english muffin was probably the best I’ve ever had, very enjoyable. I also ordered their “skinny fries” (R35). My cousins both ordered the whippet burger and fries (R138); and they both said it was the best burger they had ever had. Their cocktails were so beautiful and so tasty! I made a video review on my Tiktok, which you can also find on my Instagram (@pashieb); Follow for reviews on other places around Joburg ✨

The best brunch spot in Jozi. The food is amazing and it is so reasonably priced. You truly get to eat good food in a Jhb restaurant at a fraction of the normal price. The place is always packed but the wait is definitely worth it. I would like to see the staff being more hands on, on two occasions we have had to ask to be attended to. You walk in, get shown your table and then you sit there waiting for someone to attend to you.

One of the best breakfast/Brunch places I have been to. I had a Classic French Toast. The bread was soft and delicious, I’m not a fan of strawberries but I ate the one that was on the plate. It is a beautifully curated offering. Their Cortado was a bit on the strong side.

The menu makes you want to try evvvverything! Great ambiance, welcoming and very friendly waiters! The food is out of this world! It does get quite full so one has to wait quite a bit, but it’s worth the wait!

Strong recommend for brunch fare if you don't have dietary restrictions. I love the atmosphere - there's a cute ivy-covered pergola you can sit under outside - and the decor really cool with a lot of attention paid to the aesthetics and the menu presentation. The service is attentive. I got the French toast and it was more of a deep-fried preparation with batter than it was an egg-focussed preparation. The bread was a bit floury, too. But the portion was generous, if I wasn't avoiding fried food I'd probably have loved it. The starter salad was tasty but miniscule and unfilling. Their pastry and cake counter is delicious, though. Try the milk tart and the chock chip cookie. The prawn scrambled eggs has left the menu but it was top notch. Their gin and mimosa options are extensive - it's a fun space to meet with the girls and chat for hours.

A really quaint spot with friendly efficient service! Loved that we could sit outside in the ivy covered patio. Many people were busy on their laptops so it makes for a great remote work spot. The food was excellent. Loved the menu options... wanted to try almost everything. I loved my Korean buttermilk crusted chicken and crisp wafer chips. The burger was also excellent and portions were great. Best chai tea ever! A slice of delicious banana cake made its way home with us.

I had the salmon scramble which was really nice, with a punchy taste. Very different from your traditional scramble. I think I need to visit again, my experience was a mixed bag. The food was delicious, but the service could have been better. Our waiter forgot our order twice, so everything took very long. I’d recommend going off-peak hours to get the best service.

Customer service was excellent. The hostess was on point from time we arrived. The waiters were attentive. The food was delicious and not badly priced. Overall the Whippet team delivered well on my expectations.

Was a bit hard to find but so worth it. Fantastic experience. Was fairly full and we were fortunate to get there just before the queues. Service was quick despite the high occupancy. I had a the french toast and my wife, the breakfast burrito. Both were delicious. The burrito presentation was nothing special but the taste was fantastic. Menu looks interesting so we will be returning when in the area next time, maybe for brunch.

The Whipped is very well known to every one staying in Johannesburg and we can see why. The place was extremely busy when we visited them and we had to stand in a queue, but we were offered free champagne to ease our wait. The food was very good and tasty, the service was excellent and they added a nice touch to our coffee by personalizing it with a personal message on each of our latte coffees. Definitely worth a visit.

Honestly the best gluten free french toast I have ever had!! 100% recommend this to anyone. The cape strawberry and vanilla shake double thing was also insane. 6* from me.

The cafe is immensely popular with lovely upbeat vibe and diverse clientele. The owners and staff must be doing something right. The menu is simple with delicious options from top to bottom. Waitering and hosting was generally warm and attentive considering that there were customers queuing to get inside. Certainly an above-average establishment

10/10 - the vibe sitting outside by the street is the place to be. Everything is so athletically pleasing! The breakfast/brunch options are to die for. Service is very quick and staff are very friendly. It is also pet friendly which is cool - quite a few people with their dogs came for coffee. Presentation is beautiful !

Good spot for breakfast even though it can get full. Not great for vegans though, very egg heavy breakfast menu. But nice tofu option was available. Good coffee and some baked goods on sale

Considering that The Whippet Cafe sits right on the corner of the street, it’s a cosy but vibrant little place. The food and service at the cafe is most excellent and is the perfect place to toast up to the weekend with their remarkable cocktail menu.

The wait was totally worth the visit. The best poached egg I have ever seen and tasted. The buttermilk chicken benedict is a must have. Its so filling i took half home. Look at that runny yolk, no runny egg white to be seen. The cocktails are divine. And the creme brule coffee latte is just as amazing. Its no wonder there is about a 20-30 min wait time. But guys its worth it. We did go during brunch times, so early morning might not be such a traffic jam. If anything go for a walk and work up an appetite.

Popped in for a spot of breakfast. Cute well known spot, tends to get very busy (bear in mind this was over a weekend). We ordered the french toast and a pretty good eggplant sandwich. French toast was greasy and could’ve been better. The sandwich was a large portion and tasty. Will return to try other items.

Had a lovely working breakfast/brunch with my friends. We all loved our meals and the service was awesome. Their wifi was speedy and you get 120 mins free (the perfect place to work if you want a change of atmosphere). The staff were awesome, the bathroom was clean and parking wasn’t too much of a mission (but it is a busy street in Linden so it’s dependent on the time of day). The French toast was some of the best I’ve had and I’ll definitely be back again for it. Would definitely recommend this place.

If only more eateries would model themselves on this professionally run cafe then I would be smiling. Attention to the plate and authentic service makes this a Saturday or Sunday breakfast choice of note and underscore, underscore: quality food. A glass of cheap bubbly will relax you in minutes if coffee is not your preferred drug of the day. Long may Whippet prosper.

We had to wait a little but it was worth it. Friendly and efficient staff, complimentary champagne while waiting and mouth watering food. Highly recommend sitting outside on a sunny day. Great vibes.

Always busy, but that's nothing new. It took us about 10-15mins to get a seat. I haven't been here in 5 years, but happy to say that the quality of food is still amazing. Will come back again to try more of their yummy noms!

The food was great, I had the burger and the fiancé had the steak flatbread meal, the burger was cooked perfectly and was very saucy, the flatbread steak was too sweet though, a little less sauce on it and it would be perfect.

I really enjoyed this place. We enjoyed out food, we had mimosas. The interior is beautiful, the first thing you see when you walk in is the delicious desserts on display. One downside is that you cannot make a reservation so if it is packed you are likely going to have to wait for a table to be available.

The menu leaves much to be desire for vegetarians or non bacon eaters. The menu has bacon in at least 60% of the items. On the plus side, the hot chocolate was oversized and very good especially for this Joburg winter.

This place is very beautiful and very cozy. And nice location to enjoy a cup of coffee and a few pastries with your best friend. I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the service from the staff. Highly recommended.

This is a very cool place to hang out in Linden. Whether it be breakfast or lunch. The Buttermilk Chicken Benedict is pretty amazing and it is a very hot brunch dish. Chicken was tender and it tasted amazing. Other than the Chicken benedict, their breakfasts aren't too bad either. There are no complaints with the service either.

Food & Drink absolutely lovely. Closes abit early at 16H00 so gotta prep to leave early. Happy Hour Drinks ran out of drinks, only could have 1 kind. But if you want a morning brunch and leave early this is the place for you. Great food and drinks.

Inside was super hot and there was a table available outside. I politely asked if I could sit there but I was told that I cannot sit there because I came alone and they are too busy to serve me. It was quite disappointing especially because I heard such great things about the place and was looking forward to finally eat there.

  • 5/5 Celeste E. 2 years ago on Google
There’s a reason this place always has a queue outside. Worth the wait every time.

The Whippet is a great social experience. So easy to sit here and chat with friends over a good meal. I wasn't overly impressed with my eggs benedict. Was a fantastic presentation but for the price, I was just underwhelmed. I look forward to coming back and trying more things on the menu so that I can change my rating. There were so many other things I wanted to try that (from the menu) sounded amazing. Overall a really positive experience and I want to give more things a try to have a more holistic opinion of what The Whippet has to offer.

Went there for a late lunch and it was super great! It was packed the first time I went there and had to wait in a long queue but it was definitely worth the wait. Second time going there we got seating right away and had the best food ever. There was heavy rain and the stuff was friendly enough to lend us umbrellas to get to our cars. Amazing!! Amazing!! Amazing!!

Perfect breakfast spot! Have a great selection on the menu! Great place to stop if you have dogs with you! We had sneaky Mimosas because why not!

Came by for a brunch date. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly (so friendly that we ordered a second round of drinks😋). It was busy when we visited, and the music was a little loud. HOWEVER, the aesthetics, seating, and atmosphere? Highly recommend it 🤚🏾
