Uber/bolt is no longer allowed inside because of taxi drivers, so that is a slight problem. During loadshedding escalators don't work and at times the toilets are closed due to water-shedding. Otherwise it's a good mall

Great mall with lovely decor, good mix of stores and COVID protocols throughout.

It's our favorite go to chill place Have the best restaurants and the vibe is always and it's safe

We struggled alot going back home using Uber because taxi drivers don't want us passengers using them wheas they're beneficial other than using a taxi coz it does not drop you off at the direct/ specific destination. Something needs to be done about that.

It's was decent and there was movement without a lot of people. Chicken Licken was delicious (not too much salt or odd spices) but the chips were small in a big package🍟🤣

It's was okay. They need to install good power supply for the electricity. Load shedding happening and we couldn't use the elevators and escalators with a trolley...

The mall is beautiful and quite spacious. It was my 1st time being there. Yes it was packed (strange during COVID-19) but I loved the place and wouldn't mind going back there again

South gate is better then before, not that it was bad, but it's from Good to Great. But I realized in the males rest room some taps are not working, even one of the urine sensor are also not functioning. Besides that all is great.

Parking bays are a good size especially for cars like mine. The safety and health protocols were followed accordingly. Generally pleasant.

15 out of 10 enjoyed the cinema and love the revamped food court. Great memories

Their newly revamped food court is stunning! Love the atmosphere there. You'll find your usual stores here as well. Always neat and generally busy during the afternoons.

Recent renovations have given the place an aesthetic face lift. It has a lot of stores but nothing unique or impressive. Not a bad place at all

Clean. I love the South African Ndebele print deco at their Food Court. The revamped Food Court looks good.

The place was full the was no social distance at the food court. Some people weren't wearing Masks. At other shops rules were being followed.

The mall should update its payment machines like other malls to include master cards. Parking should also include parking bays for mothers with strollers and doing grocery shopping makes no sense for a mother to travel that far with all that grocery in place with a child. Most malls and shopping centers have this included in updating their mall. Waiting to see what transformation is taking place I sincerely hope its not going to be limited to just the paint outside. Tiling and a few new shops should fo the trick.

Absolutely brilliant service. Products are adorable and of great quality and yet so affordable. I was worried as I had ordered online and wasn't sure when I would receive my product. I liased via whatsapp with the store and got such prompt response. My parcel was immediately packed and I received it from the courier company the next day. Could never be happier with the exceptional service, readiness to help and prompt response and quick delivery. Keep up the great work.

Great variety of stores... the mall still sees a lot of foot traffic even on a Sunday. Love that the stores open till late too. They have plenty sanitising stations and strictly adhere to Covid19 lockdown regulations. Great place for people of all ages young and old or even the whole family.

Not too bad for a mall that is nearer to the township and doesn't pose commotion. Banking is made with pleasure and the weren't congested.

Friendly workers all around. I am happy to have dined here. We had the best waiter and the service was just top notch. Manger keeps popping in to check if all is well and all protocols were observed. Wouldn't mind coming back and love the birthday song

It's get more and more appealing with continuous improvements. But it seems too small during pay dates and weekends. I often avoid going there during busy days. I wonder if there are plans for expansion? There are stores like @thome that are small and one would have to drive further to get more options and furniture. Corcraft too, one has to drive for it. One could name a few more stores needed nearby. It's a pity we Aldo don't have checkers hyper,no pic n pay hyper. Perhaps the market isn't big enough fir their targets?

The mall has been revamped, almost everything you need you can find here, ample parking and gets really packed but you’ll always find a parking spot.

I recommend anybody to go to this mall because it really is a top quality mall and the food court sells good food there's alot to do and there is a cinema as well.

What a busy Mall but the staff in Picknpay needs to be more nicer, we get that you are always busy team but remember we also come to buy our food we are also at work. Pep store staff not so nice too, if you want excellent service at South Gate go to Woolies, Checkers, clicks those Shop their personel are thee best ❣️

It's extremely crowded , especially the gameshop. My son could not even spend half his tokens,we ended up coming home with them. Most games are occupied by people just standing around 👎 On the plus side the food court has been upgraded a d looks much better , especially with all the seating available.

This mall is big with lot of shops. But you need to be careful when inside lot of people are falling into scams within the shops. My sister was almost robbed at arkermns the guys were acting as if they working inside... so be careful and keep safe.. it happens on the 02 June 2022.. overall I'm happy and satisfied with the service

Nice mall. Lots of shops. 2 storey building . I'm just not a fan of their parking. Too many cars going in and out and no one really directing traffic.

The mall is mostly very busy. Security guards don't speak in English as well as most store attendants. Most basic stores available. Food court is the best feature, with a rock mamas and sterkinekor most affordable I've been to but they don't have 3D. Food court sitting g area has charging ports which is great in case of emergencies. Users can only collect you at the checkers entrance due to meter taxi- uber wars.

Always go there with my family and it's great mall.

It is a great place to shop because most essential stores are there. Please keep in mind as I always say when traveling with your vehicle don't leave essential items on the seat when you go to shop because that may attract thieves to break in.

Bought an Xbox S @Incredible Connections but there was no Game Pass,went back the following day and had to purchase a Game Pass, Melvin the store assistant took my numbers and promised to call me to collect one to NO avail........Why promise if can't deliver - poor service pal

The mall is very versatile in terms of offerings - very good for family outings and grocery runs too. A bit busy but not more than is expected in a mall. The food court is very nice.

All the stores have really nice clothes, however I don't like that if you go to clicks they make you leave your trolley at the entrance, anyone can steal your stuff, the security at some stores really 'tie' your bags up, personally I don't like people touching my personal self, so I only go to this mall for specific things or specific shops . Transport is easy, also play arcade for the kids and food court which is halal friendly

A decent shopping mall located South of Johannesburg. Ample free parking. Unfortunately many tenants seem to have downsized or vacated following covid lockdown. With no shortage of malls and shopping centres in Johannesburg South, it should be easy to find items you couldn’t find at Southgate at nearby shopping centres without the traffic.

To whom it may concern I'm so very much disappointed with what has just happened now while trying to access my e-hailing ride, Taxi people didn't want us to ride our car that came to pick us up they chased us outside the car, threatened to hurt us and forced us to take taxis, They further didn't want us to get our ride from shell garage, we had to travel to McDonald's with lots of staff and trolley guys also said the trolleys are not supposed to go outside the mall What the hack is that, Why are you allowing such in your mall Really?? We support your mall to be treated like this, seriously this is uncalled for, my son was so terrified and scared He's anxious even now Fix this or we won't support your mall anymore

Im not much of a mall person but i cant recall a bad experience at southgate except for when i took my sun to the arcade centre where most of the machines were not in working condition, atleast they refunded our coins

Southgate mall is know run by taxi ppl that tell customers that we have no right to take bolts or users thank you south I will never come here agian

Clean toilets, plugs to charge your phone and also do some work when you forgot to send an email ect, good eating area security everywhere very good, and last but not least I like that they keep the tables clean at the eating area 😉👌👍

Nice, big, a variety of clothing stores, banks, and the food court is amazing, with the games being close by, it's very convenient. Taxi rank is not far, so traveling to and from South gate is no problem. Parking is essential and that need is met all around the mall. Occasional car auctions take place and is very appealing if you want your first car at a bargain of a price. Great experience overall. Almost nothing to complain about.

Is one of the clean mall I visited and the security is tight. You even feel free to park your car outside. I love it❤❤and on the Soweto Derby day on the 29 October it was my first time to go shopping on that Mall

I visited Southgate mall on the 28 Oct 2022. The services I got from Mc Donald and Shell filing station staff was amazing. Big up to those ladies and gentleman, they made my day to be superb.

I like this Mall..... It is not bad. There is ample walking space and it is easy to navigate. Even when it is full and crowded, you don't feel compressed. And it had almost everything you need.

Southgate Mall is a very popular and very busy shopping center. You can get almost anything you want under one roof,from groceries and clothing to appliances and furniture, not to mention the experience of sitting down in the food court to have a meal from any restaurant of your choice.

It was fun, a good experience for a mall not too far from Soweto. I loved the variety of stores offered at the mall better than those offered at a few malls closer to me. With a taxi rank just outside commuting to your end destination. At a reasonable price I'd like to say.

Unique, buzzing, exciting and multi shopping experience venue this side of Johannesburg. If you want to see a Sowetan's taste and lifestyle, this mall is a mirror of Soweto and surrounding areas. It is busy, has multiple outlets and very friendly guards.

I normally shop at Southgate because I love the mall but on the 5 of December when I came back from my shopping at the underground packing I found my car boot broken, someone broke into my car when I reported to the securities they told me that they will check the footage I had to go back the following day to ask what happened because no one was calling to give me an update about my incident and the security at the control told me that they saw nothing on the footage and that was it. I was disappointed and hurt because I thought the underground parking was the safest, I called the centre manager but she still sent me back to the same securities who didnt assist me.

Extremely full, it's not like a mall, sales persons now stand outside citing store making a noise singing like it's a March this is stupid that's why people go to malls for decency. Shops are playing music loud people go do shopping they not at a bash or a club I left with a headache.

A big shopping mall with Ster Kinekor cinema, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Game, Hifi Corp and many more shops and lots of banks and ATM. The food court is nice and clean,well care for. Lots of undercover and outside parking. Located in a good place.

The mall is nice but the challenge is that you cannot request an ehailing service car as the metered taxi guys blocks everyone.

Southgate mall is a clean and easily accessible mall. The environment if very friendly. There's a big screen at the food court area where you can enjoy soccer matches while having your meal.

Mall of The South is simply one of the best places to do ur shopping at ...there's all the type of shops ...LIFE GRAND is one of the best restaurants around there guys ...make sure to pop in...

I've been there after so long they are still small but looks good. Still very behind. People you need to stick to the times. Give the same service that you give the upper class. Don't keep communities in the dark.

A very small mall relative to other ones I've been to. Many shops lacking. Worst place to be be the end of the month. Good for grocery shopping and if you need basic clothing. It has its benefits though, the food court has many eating places and is very big.

Taxi drivers need to be regulated to prevent them from denying Uber drivers access throughout the mall. It's evident that we are being coerced into using taxis, especially for those who live in areas where taxis drop you far from your destination. The mall management must take action. As customers, it's disheartening to feel mistreated, and there is a pressing need for a resolution. It's genuinely unsettling to have to walk through to the Shell garage or the traffic lights with a full trolley just to cater to the preferences of a few individuals.

I am very disappointed with Southgate management whereby they cannot control the mess between the taxi drivers and Bolt/Uber I feel we do not have a right to choice our transport services why do the not allow the Uber Bolt drivers. Just be in mind the you lost a loyal customer who will no longer make use of you'll facility.

This is the closest mall I shop in but lately I had to change because they are allowing taxi associations to run the mall. They do not allow bolts and urbers anymore yet they are convinient for us. Using a taxi is not idle for everyone some of us have to walk for 10 mins from where the taxi drops us. I think management should engage in this matter if they value their customers, I can not be forced to carry heavy groceries from the taxi stop to my house while they are other transport options.
