This is a brilliant football stadium, designed to lock-in the atmosphere from really huge and passionate crowds, up to 95000 strong. The Calabash is a monument to the hosting of the 2010 World Cup, and is in fact one of the standout successes that serves as a legacy to the country. There is only one game in any of our sporting codes that can really fill this venue, and that is the Soweto derby, one of the biggest games in world football! Road traffic management and better transport options would really assist in avoiding delays in reaching the stadium. Unfortunately one of the best options, namely the rail link from Park station, is no longer viable because of consistent cable theft.

This place has a very rich history in terms of South African Sport, it was revamped for the 2010 soccer world cup. Great atmosphere especially if you attendeding when your team is playing, it's safe to bring your whole family for an even more fun time. With current Covid 19 regulations the verification process can be tedious if there's huge crowds but the staff were very knowledgeable and quick to process verification. Overall it's an awesome beautiful venue to attend events at.

Great venue, with ample parking. But confusing roads and low maintenance makes you wonder for how long will it be an attraction and not a sore on the city skyline. It makes me sad that this jewel of the Soccer wold cup 2010 is showing rusk on the outside of its bowl. But still a great venue for football and concerts.

Great architectural sport structure. Facilities were clean and easy to access. Seating and overall viewing was clear and provided for a good experience. One needs to keep an eye out for children as it is relatively easy to get lost. There is wheelchair access and wheelchair parking. Parking is well defined and ample.

Parking seems to be an issue here. We got out without a problem because we left the stadium early, but there was so many people being double parked and blocked on their way out. Other than that, staff so know their way around, and there are plenty of people to guide you to your correct seat. Policing was very controlled, but everything flowed smoothly. Paramedics where on hand for the concert, and easily spotted. Bathrooms around every corner made it easy as well. Very good stadium.

It was one of the best experiences I've ever had even though my team lost ... I loved every that happened

Easily accessible location, lots of parking space- it could do with carports- seats are foldable and clean. The people who scan the tickets are quite friendly and the people who direct you to the level you'll be sitting at are good at maintaining order. The tuckshops sell loads of alcohol and there's people who are selling snacks like biltong & popcorn. The big screen is quite accommodating and the speakers are reasonably audible. The stadium is very clean by the way....10/10 to the cleaners. I can't comment on the toilets though, as I didn't go there.

Great looking stadium. The security was not ready to allow people to scan to enter. Scanners were not working at 4 gates. Eventually they let us in. Beautiful stadium, well maintained but the entry system needs to be optimised.

I enjoyed the event I went there for, I however did not like the state of the toilet at the stadium. They were not clean, and they smelled. Streets lights on the main street (Nasrec) don't work at all. That's a call for concern. But in a nutshell, it's a beautiful stadium 🏟 I loved it.

Stadium is still in good nick, could do with the boards telling you wher to sit or which block you need to get but thinking back in even forget what the stadium looked like before.

We were there for the Imagine Dragons concert. Got to any seats easy. Drinks very expensive

  • 5/5 Brian M. 1 year ago on Google
We went there for a concert, event was well organised and police presence made it safe for the patrons and they assisted with the traffic control. Parking areas are a bit of a walking distance but it's understandable for a 95k capacity stadium. Overall the stadium facilities were satisfactory even though some areas need maintaining here and there.

Was there for the Imagine Dragons show. It was amazing! Only bad things was that we were waiting in the line to buy food, waited an hour and left without food when the show started. Also when we were leaving, walking back to the busses, the gates were locked and we had to wait quite a while for it to be opened. But the show was stunning.

This is one of the stadia that was renovated for the iconic FIFA World Cup hosted in 2010. It is a wonderful stadium located in the South of Johannesburg that hosts soccer, cycling, running, music, expo’s and a number of other events. Whenever an event is going to be hosted at FNB Stadium, just know that it’ll be huge! This is a 90,000 capacity stadium. Should you attend an event here, get there well ahead of time. There is always plenty of parking available but, again, events hosted here are always massive so get here timeously. In terms of parking fees, some events make you pre-pay for parking, while others allow you to park at the venue. Always have change on hand to pay the car-guards. The venue is easily accessible off the M1 and N1 highways. Just check with event organisers whether any road-closures are planned. This venue is also popular with photoshoots. Should you wish to use the outside of the venue, you don’t particularly need a permit; however, should you require a photoshoot within the stadium itself, send a request well ahead of time. It’s a beautiful venue; a must-see for any visitor to the city of Johannesburg.

Also known as the soccer city, FNB stadium is the biggest stadium in South Africa by both size and capacity of 90 000 plus seater. Built in the shape of calabash, the stadium has hosted the finals of FIFA world cup in 2010 and also the preferred choice to host the Soweto derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Kaizer Chiefs football club currently utilize the FNB stadium as their home ground.
