We had a very frustrating experience and highly unprofessional. My cousin brought her young son and daughter to the Johnson City Mall kiosk build a bear, they traveled 3 hrs to bring him for his birthday. We were later getting there but they close at 7 and we were 6:53 getting there. They looked around and within a couple minutes the kids had picked out what they wanted and was ready to go, only to be advised they were closed. So we asked when did you close? The young lady said 7. Ok I look at my phone and it’s 6:58, no offer to help them, just sorry we’re closed. All the time the kids were looking and picking out the things they wanted, not a word was said. From my retail experience you help every customer that is in your store by close. I understand it was close to closing on a friday night, but when a customer is in your place of business, has everything they need in hand before you are scheduled to close and you say you are closed is terrible business. Especially when that customer said they traveled 3 hrs to come to your business and all you can say is sorry we’re closed. I wouldn’t give this location even 1 star.

If I could’ve left 0 stars I would’ve. The girl that filled out bear told us “I walked away from you because I’m about to go on break. I don’t want to get stuck doing this because of you.” She wouldn’t do the bear ceremony. Wouldn’t ask if we wanted to put a heart in our bear. She wouldn’t explain any of build a bear for a friend who had never been there before. She had the absolute worst attitude I’ve ever experienced at the build a bear in all of the times we’ve been. For a friend who had never gotten to have a build a bear as a kid because of how financially out of luck they were? I’m very disappointed build a bear. Very. Disappointed.

I went a few months ago with a couple of friends. The worker that stuffed our bears was a bit shy but friendly and nice. When it came to checking out though, the other workers didn't seem as friendly as if they didn't want to be there. When asking what we wanted to take the bear home with, I told them a box. They placed two boxes on the counter and didn't bother to help us put our bears in, just expecting us to do it ourselves. I didn't mind doing it myself but helping the customer is part of their job. They just seemed like we were bothering them and seemed like they wanted us to leave. This is Build-A-Bear, not a funeral: Have some energy and spirit when working with customers. Be friendly and nice to your customers.

Skyler is incredible! She helped me make the perfect gift for my granddaughter- and she really made my experience special. Incredibly knowledgeable, and explained the whole process to me! Loved my experience.

Lots of staff to help whenever needed. I don’t think we got the full ceremony or a birth certificate, but everything else seemed to be in place. Not a lot of options. And just a “booth” inside the mall—not an actual store.

Went for a Month straight and even called and they were always "sold out" of the birthday bear.....always rude about it. never got to give my kiddo one was really looking forward to it ... never going again....wish I could give them a -1 (except for the first lady I asked she was really nice) you guys are a freaking kids store and you wanna be rude to potentially life long customers. Genius.

Was waiting for the VR place to open and decided to stop at Build-A-Bear. Haven't built once I was 5 but had a lot of fun trying. My younger sister wanted a minion, Bob, but we wasn't sure if the Hufflepuff outfit she wanted would fit on him. They was really helpful and took their already built Bob and tried it on him. Overall the experience was really fun and the employees were really nice.

I took my children to make a bear on Saturday and I can’t say enough how awful our experience was. First of all it’s not even a store it’s just out in the open. The choices of bears, clothes and accessories were slim. The staff was very unprofessional not helpful and not friendly. If you are looking to go to build a bear pick a different location for the full experience! Very disappointing!
