Kagbhusandi lake is a high altitude lake in the region of Himalaya. It's situated at 4800 meters above from sea level. You can reach at Lake by trekking from Gobind ghaat. From Gobind ghaat to Bhyundaar village the Trek is same as Hemkund sahib or Valley of flowers. From Bhyundaar the Trek move forward with the Kagbhusandi river. It's a very tough trek. No facilities available after Bhyundar. You have to carry everything of need on your back. The path is very difficult and dangerous. 1st day - you can stay at Kargila or Samartoli bugyal. Both the places are beautiful and calm. After Samartoli you have to cross the river. This is very dangerous. Ahead the river there is a Gaddi Dera. From here you can see Hathi ghoda parbat. About 1 hour trek from Gaddi Dera you can reach at Raj Kharag. Here you can see the beauty of nature. Raj Kharag is a plan area with lush green grass and many water streams. After a tough climb you can reach at Macchi Taal a beautiful lake at 4100 meters. Then you can climb the Kankul pass which is 5100 meters high from sea level. After crossing Kankul pass you can see the first view of Kagbhusandi Lake.

This is a sacred lake in the Garhwal Himalayas. Kak is one of the 12 immortal characters in Indian mythology, who is believed to live here. To reach here one has to go for a seven day trek. The route has become quite dangerous. This is the most adventurous trek I have ever done. The lake is a huge glacial pool and scenic beauty is like heaven.

This was our first trek in Himalayas . We were sandbagged to this trek with folks who were seasoned trekkers .we went in 2014 and right before this trip there was cloud burst due to which trail leading to lake was all gone we had to follow path which wasn’t taken by regular trekkers . This made the trek difficult yet memorable. Route leading to lake is extremely beautiful and mesmerizing.
