The
South
Park
has
been
established
between
1891
and
1901
by
Adolf
Kowallek
who
was
the
garden
director
of
this
time.
Amids
the
meadow
where
the
playground
is,
the
fancy
South
Park
Restaurant
has
been
established
in
1910.
The
today's
tree
population
consisting
of
copper
beech,
plates
and
(sweet)
chessnut
trees
originates
from
the
time
when
the
park
was
founded.
The
symbol
of
the
park
is
the
black
panther
which
you
can
find
at
the
west
side
of
the
park.
It's
a
bronze
plastic
created
by
the
famous
sculptor
Fritz
Behn.
He
was
famous
for
his
vivid
animal
sculptures.
His
Marienburger
Panther
is
creeping,
lurking
and
obviously
ready
for
hunting.
An
interesting
fact
about
Marienburg
is
that
it
belongs
to
the
biggest
coherent
villa
districts
in
Germany.
