We visit the Rudolfplatz every year with the family during the Christmas period. It's not the biggest Christmas market but definitely one of the most enjoyable. If you're looking for a delicious gluhwein go to "Rudi's dorfskrug' for good drinks and nice atmosphere. We love the place and the gluhwein is the best of the whole of Cologne. Enjoy! You'll for sure visit it a couple of times during your stay.

Hm I should review this square as a local? Apart of the strategic square (with its intersection of the tram/subway) I dislike this place in general. Esp. the subway buidling with empty and ugly spaces - it used to be a sausages corner, Starbucks and bakery. I hope the city of Cologne finally decided to renovate it and make the spot prettier.

It's a large traffic plaza in downtown Cologne. Several subway lines, trams, and busses serve the square, and it's at the entrance to one of Cologne's busiest nightlife areas.

A very common station, it has many land marks around it.

We went to the Christmas market last year and really enjoyed it. The market was way smaller than the one closed to the cathedral, but it was far less touristy so we could walk quite relax then stop in few shops. Although small, the market has the quintessential stuffs unique to German's Christmas market, from the sausages to some lovely decorations at home. We had a good time here. Oh, do not forget to bring cash, because most of the shops did not accept card, but there was an atm nearby there.
